So no? I would like to see a proper statistical analysis to be presise.
  3. Uhhhh, not really, second half stats more important.
  4. ...and the stadium looks like a giant toilet bowl. Funny stuff
  5. JJ made a comment on Monday nights show also, but no details. I'm interested to hear your comments ZW. I thought Akron football was on the right track years ago with Mike Thomas, but the plan seem to go with him. Akron basketball never seem to put much effort into it.

Did you factor in the quality of opponent? Out of conference vs MAC play? Zone vs man to man defense?

When Brett was on the Keith Dambrot Show a couple of weeks back, he admitted he is having a hard time adjusting not being able to set his feet and shoot this year. You could sense his frustration. PS McNees was 2 for 7 from three point land against ND in the NCAA tournament last March. We MUST produce in the paint to win big games.
  8. Won't the Zips be running the same offense as Northern Alabama did last season per Coach Bowden? Didn't they have a playbook?
  9. I keep forgetting, when was the last time the MAC had two teams in?
  10. Right on both accounts. I don't know why, but I was abnormally frustrated by this loss. I guess my expectations were getting up due to the proximity of the month of March. Back to reality. And from the above comments on KD, I think he has been very realistic about an at large bid all year. If he gets excited about it and pumps it up in the media, so be it. That's his job. Good for him.
  11. If I wanted to be the starting QB of the Akron Zips next year, I'm pretty sure I would find coach Bowden and have his playbook the second day he was on campus. I might sleep by the door of his office the first night.
  12. I'll take a 15 seed if we get to play Columbus State (2 seed).
  13. Speaking of Morrison, I thought the game plan of guarding him with a bunch of different Zips was solid for most of the game, then it seemed like he decided he wanted to win and it didn't matter who guarded him. He is a PTP'er. I was impressed how well OR played defense in the paint against us, seemed like they made a concerted effort to take the charge against us. Wonder if that resulted in the staff studying some tape, or just coincidence. I enjoyed the announcing yesterday, nice informative job. I enjoy the games a lot better with a good tv crew. They did a good job of explaining a few things (violent action review), and the analysis of plays was fair and intelligent. One last thought, I read here somewhere that OR didn't play good D against our 3 point shooting, the Zips just shot bad. I'm not sure OR was real worried about our 3 point shot since they went to a 2-3 zone. They pretty much baited us into shooting threes and the Zips obliged by missing. Is that good D? Seem to work. A couple of quick threes and they would have got right out of the zone, but there was no need because we couldn't hit a three. I hope the team and staff can regroup, learn from this game, and put a run together.
  14. Thanks for stopping by OT, always good to hear what the other side thinks. Your second bullet has been questioned by many Zip fans for years.
  15. Printed in Bud Shaw's column. I could never put my finger on it, but Marla nailed it, Tree does look like Willie.
  16. HZ is right, we wanted UB & Ken+ to win, and then smack them when we play them!
  17. Teams do one of three things through the season...get better, bet worse, or stay the same. Sometimes you can blame it on injuries, sometimes you can't. After watching the VCU game, and the Oral Roberts game, I'm cautiously lowering my expectations. We are not rising up for the out of conference big games. That doesn't bode well for my NCAA tourney hopes. I am still hoping for a Columbus State match up in round two though, I'm just not betting on it.
  18. Best game Nic has played in more than a month. Aggressive play in the paint and hustle down the floor. He passed up on multiple open threes, so I'm guessing that KD's open criticism seem to work. The next thing I would tell him is quit thinking, and react. When he dribbles more than twice in the half court...well let's just say that when he lets the game come to him, good things happen for the Zips. I hope he continues the rest of his Zips career like he did today.
  19. Staff needs to prepare the team better. Too often we are behind early, make good half time adjustments, and wear the other team down late. Today, shots didn't fall late. We need to start better to become a better team.
  20. Shades of the VCU game...coulda, shoulda woulda. Team is not ready for the big time yet. OR was well prepared for the game. They did the hard work to win the game, congrats to them.
  21. I haven't seen Morrison or OR play, so I don't have an opinion if this is right or wrong. I usually stick to "find what a team does best, and find a way to stop it." If I had to guess from previous KD defended games, I would guess he tries to stop Morrison the first half and adjusts at halftime. It will be fun (or maddening) to see how it works out though.
  22. How do you fall asleep in the drive-thru?
  23. Thread already started

  25. Let's hope it works. I think his minutes will become critical come tourney time. Getting back to "his role" might just be the difference between the Zips being great or just good. Let's see how he responds to KD's open criticism tomorrow. I want to see a worm-like performance.
