Is anyone going to watch the LeBron On Larry King Live?
Dr Z replied to lance99's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Another photo from the silly disaster. I'm not a fan of the landscaping on this end of the stadium. Can't somebody make this look classy for a couple thousand bucks? -
Is anyone going to watch the LeBron On Larry King Live?
Dr Z replied to lance99's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Four thousand people AND LeBron show up. "Akron is my home, it's my life. Everything I do is for this city. I'm going to continue to do great things. I love every last one of you all. Akron is home." --LBJ -
Voters aren't that smart either. I think the heat is melting some brains in SC. Sounds like an easy way to get reelected, make sure you run against a homeless guy who can hardly speak. You like watching train wrecks GP1, hopefully this guy agrees to some debates.

I agree. I'm hoping that iCoach and staff are really focused at the task at hand (upcoming season) and they see this extra stuff as a distraction right now. Hopefully after being here for a year, things like this will be addressed next year. I'm kind of giving them a pass this season. But if I see a crummy product on the field, my feelings are going to change. I would never turn down any NFL Akron player that wanted to help the U in any way though.

Maybe Charlie tried and it found it's way to the same pile as the football golf outing.

For those of you that put your faith in rivals rating, PN7 is ranked higher. I had to check because I thought I was unaware of something. Skip, you seem impressed with the fact he plays in "the big ten", that doesn't impress me at all. He would be playing with mac players around him at Akron, PN7 has proven he can do that, this kid has not. I don't mind if he ends up here, but I don't understand your "solve our woes at QB" comment. Do you think that PN7 will not improve his numbers this year after being thrust into last years situation as a true freshman? PN7 also has more completions, tds, yards and experience than Jacob.

FLA$H MOBS Akron gets a mention on Extra Mustard. (one of my favorite sites other than ZN, but only if you like sports, chicks and humor)

I'm dressing up as Lebron, renting a limo and driving around the block taking donations to "stay in Cleveland"

I know it's been posted here before, but will we EVER see Akron in headline number four? Link ------------------------------------------------ AKRON, Ohio -- LeBron James' hometown is throwing him a big party. Nobody knows if it's a farewell bash yet. James' contributions to Akron will be celebrated on Saturday at "LeBron Appreciation Day," an event organized by community leaders to show the local superstar how much he is loved as he approaches free agency. The three-hour rally is being held at InfoCision Stadium on the University of Akron's campus, across from Rhodes Arena, where James accepted his second straight NBA MVP award last month. Organizers said James is aware of the event, but don't know if he'll attend. James can become a free agent on July 1 and consider offers from the Cleveland Cavaliers and other teams. He is not expected to announce his plans before hitting the free-agent market.

After watching our defense last year, IMHO, there isn't a spot (DL, LB, S, DB) that we don't have holes. This defensive unit has the potential to "make" our season. When I start seeing, tight coverage, QB sacks, stuffed runs, turnovers, three and outs on a consistent basis, I will reevaluate. I read a good article in the Post Gazette the other day that reminded me of the Zips. The gist of it was Polamalu claiming that last years pass happy Steeler offense was hurting their defense by not giving the defense a good rest so they could play at a high intensity level. Hopefully the Zips new pro style offense will be able to provide some clock eating drives so that our defense will be well rested and be playing at a high intensity level.

"Good" is a relative term, you might have to be entertaining also to attract a crowd. People like to have fun.

I'll vote football since it is the most popular and my favorite.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giants wide receiver and return specialist Domenik Hixon is out for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the team announced on Wednesday. Initially the Giants believed Hixon had hyper-extended the knee when his foot caught in the new FieldTurf during the Giants' first practice in the New Meadowlands Stadium on Tuesday. Later in the day, Hixon underwent an exam and MRI that revealed the torn ACL. According to the team, Hixon will undergo surgery in two to three weeks. Hixon fielded a punt during Tuesday's practice and crumpled to the ground untouched after getting his foot caught in the turf. Hixon lay on the turf clutching his knee in pain for several minutes, but walked off under his own power. Giants blog Giants Looking for more information on Big Blue? ESPNNewYork.com has you covered. Blog Defensive end Justin Tuck said the turf was soft and the players had to get accustomed to it. Head coach Tom Coughlin also said the team had questions about the turf even before he learned of the severity of Hixon's injury. It's safe to say that a major injury in the Giants' first practice at the new stadium was enough to cause additional concern. "Listen, you got to go over there and go on it before you can make some judgments about it," Coughlin said. "We will be better served now because of the shoes that we recommend. I said he got his foot stuck in there. You can see on tape he is turning a little bit and he does have a little hyper-extended kind of thing. We are aware of it [the softness of the turf] and we are continuing to work with it and are asking the turf people to take another look at the field and some of the thoughts we had about shoes and stuff." When asked if the turf conditions are such because it is new, Coughlin answered, "Yeah, just because it's new." Coughlin said Hixon was wearing shoes that had been recommended for use on FieldTurf. Hixon, a fifth-year pro, was the team's return specialist. His injury opens the door for another returner. The Giants have used the likes of Sinorice Moss, Antrel Rolle and Aaron Ross at times during offseason workouts on punt returns. And with Hixon's absence, another receiver such as second-year pro Ramses Barden will have a chance to climb the depth chart.

I know how ZN loves to vote (responsible for Zippy winning mascot of the year). This takes 2 minutes, but I know the lead singer and he REALLY wants to play with Kiss. He's a good guy and his band is pretty good too. Go here: Click Here Click [Demand it!] on Love Turns Hate Fill in Zip and other BS, don’t be afraid to falsify this info. Thank you.

I scanned this in after I found it in my junk when I moved a few years back. I posted it then, but here it is again. Enjoy.

To me it's a no-brainer, but the second vote might be Dr. Luis Proenza.

If you read 1,000 sport figure tweets a day, would you learn a thing? I may be bias, but I'm going to stick with ZN.

A Zips' take on the World Cup
Dr Z replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Speaking of World Cup. I watched the highlights of the US game on Youtube (see below), looked like a good game. If somebody can do this for the Zips games this year, I would appreciate it. Thank you. -
I can see why they dropped the football golf outing for events like this.

I would love to have Marshall back in the MAC. Some of the best Akron football games I have been to. Fans travel well also.

Miami Redhawks hold football camp in...
Dr Z replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
I wish iCoach would do this, five in Florida, five in Texas. They can use this years Lot 9 revenue to pay for the trips next spring.
