  1. ...your tone suggest you might know...
  2. ...This is what happens when you give old people the internet
  3. I think you can chalk this one up to the fact that Fingerbutt wants the "historical" four corner universities to attract and attain more out of state student population. The funniest part is, I heard somewhere that 90 some percent of Can't's student population comes from a 100 mile radius. Calling Can't one of the "historical" campuses in Ohio is disgraceful. When out of state kids come to see the crappy seventies architecture, the completely homogeneous student body, they have to wonder how in the heck it's considered historical! Then, add to that the fact that Can't was established FORTY years after Akron was, and one has to wonder...what in the **** is Eric fingerbutt thinking? OU, Miami, yeah. I'm unbiased enough to realize that they have gorgeous campuses. But BG and Can't...nope.
  4. I'm pretty sure that's team member Michael Tokarz's plate and he's from West Virginia, so he also had a custom front decorative plate.Yeah, I think I remember West Virginia plates on a puke green car.
  5. This topic isn't even worth the dead horse.
  6. Payne is nowhere near having a final three teams. Heck, he really hasn't even begun to sit down and strongly consider what schools he might want to attend. His reasoning on Payne eliminating Akron is a little flawed. Yes, Rivals did remove Akron but they did that to add another BCS school on his list. Rivals only lists 15 schools and Akron got the bump.If Rivals decided where Payne went to school than Ohio State would be getting an extra honorary scholarship to make up for the two it lost.
  7. Nothing can help our ranking. We can have the world's greatest educational institution but we would still be in Tier 3 because of two factors: open enrollment and the "reputation survey" conducted by USNWR that counts more than any objective stats that they have. You're completely right, as a university we can never really rise in the rankings with all of the restrictions that open enrollment throws on our back. But I was referring the Business week rankings of the nations top b-schools. If we managed to get on the list with open enrollment, I'd imagine adding more facilities would raise our ranking. Now just imagine if Open enrollment was dropped..*dreams*...ahhh
  8. That links not working^^In case you were curious, I saw a post on another forum and the guy claims it's just a funding issue:http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=8063.newThere's the link^^That would really help our ranking if that building ever panned out!Edit: That guy is you! hm, well, I suppose this isn't news, then...*facepalm*
  9. I never who it was that tops OSU in academics. Miami University has a stronger undergraduate focus then OSU.
  10. That was the only program that had potential, too.
  11. psh, I don't care if they dropped open enrollment, OSU will never be a very strong university. Shoot, their not even the best public school in Ohio!
  12. EXACTLY! Thank you!I sure hope the athletic department is reading this. Every one of those ideas are awesome.
  13. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/multip...own-2013-a.html^^^I routinely go on these forums...there's never any mention of Akron because these kids get off on prestige and selectivity(something Akron COULD have )Typically you only see Miami or Case mentioned(and OSU every so often), but when NEOUCOM acceptances and rejections come out I like reading what schools kids pick as their first choice(Akron, Can't, or Youngstown State( )). This class I thought it was interesting to see most of the kids picked Akron as their first choice. Can't only had a couple kids. I'm sure it's gotten even more lopsided in recent years with Akron's additions to campus. My point? If UA ever instituted tougher admission procedures kids from all over this state would be fighting to come here! Can't's campus just doesn't compare!Right now the more competitive students just see it as a joke. An open enrollment city institution. And so does U.S News and World Report.
  14. Yeah I agree completely. I want to see more stuff like that ROO TOWN siding on the Indoor Practice facility.I think it would be cool to put on the face of the bridge going over Route 8 at the Carroll St. Exit. Maybe another ROO TOWN sign covering the whole thing. It can't be that expensive and like B&G said, it puts UA in the minds of everyone who drives by.
  15. That wont happen without a winning program. You have to remember, we're talking about Northeast Ohioans. The front runners of a lifetime. If Ohio State weren't guaranteed a BCS bowl with their weak schedule then you wouldn't see nearly as many OSU t shirts around here.
  16. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Coleman commons has been completed. It's even in some of ME87's pictures. It's the green space between the baseball fields and Buchtel Hall. Then again, maybe it's not, because I could've sworn I read something about a fountain of some sort and an amphitheater...hm..
  17. that makes us second in the MAC East haha How is CMU ahead of us Haha, because their student body isn't obsessed with ohio state like many of the ohio mac schools student body. Holy crap, miami hasn't even broke 50 yet? I thank god every day I didn't enroll there. I was THAT close too...whew...
  18. I can't wait to see the responses to the Ohio.com articles after the opener. Those people can find reasons to b**** about anything.
  19. 15. The demolition of ZLB Plasma center.
  20. I think it's obvious that most of the people driving to the game will be taking a trek from downtown. As for myself, I'll be staying on campus after my classes are over and wait until after the game to drive back to the apartment.Spicer and Sumner are going to be crazy during pre game.
  21. Don't be so modest. This will be one of the nicest stadiums in the country(notice I said nicest, not BIGGEST). Our athletic department is looking beyond the MAC, and rightfully so.
  22. Not sure what the OP's thoughts were, but maybe they were looking at things economically. Sure, BE and B10 are(arguably) equivalent in the product they put on the field, but the Big Ten rakes in a lot more dough annually. Is it right? No. But that's why the Big 10 may be a more lucrative option for many Big East teams.
  23. If you're interested, Dr. Donovan in the Chemistry department told us in lecture that he was giving up his "AK Rowdy" license plate and would give it to the first taker. I could probably contact him if you're interested. On a side note: I've seen some creative Zips license plates in the parking lots before. I can remember, "UAROTC", "ZIPSRIFLE", and a few other variations of that sort.
