  1. Hey, interesting piece of data I just found on that site. Since 2001, Akron is --- get this ---- a whopping 13-0 when they score 40 or more points. So all we have to do is put 40 on the board and, heh, you can add a another W for the zips. Alright.giggity giggity.
  2. first team in the east to 5 wins in the mac will win the division...cuz whoever wins thursday still only has 2 losses and the tiebreaker on head to head...the best anyone else will do is 5 wins...AND Brookhart probably keeps the job with 6 wins so this gets huge...to beat buffalo will take the zips playing their best game of the year..see ya there...How could you question Brookhart's job security at all?
  3. Would that be Riverside High in Painesville? I went to Perry, haha.
  4. And as you mentioned, Jacq looks great. I remember starting a thread a while ago about replacing him if he doesn't progress and mature. Well he has shown that progression more so than I could of ever dreamed of. What a game for him! It also helped that UT couldn't stop DK. The O Line just kept pounding away. Every play was 3,4,5 yards a pop. This offense has really come together.
  5. Not trying to start a flame war, but I wish you all would realize that we don't have "homestands" we aren't YSU and we aren't a high school. We have West Stands (press tower) and East Stands. I mean the south seating area (the berm and the 2 adjacent sections on both sides of the field) is going to be designated as the student section. There is reserved seating on both sides of the field. General admission is going to be from the 30 yard to the goal line on both sides. Please people we have to get out of this low class mentality.Okay.This is probably a stupid question, but what is all of that yellow that was put in on the back of the west stands? I saw as I was walking by and was just curious.I feel so high class.
  6. I personally expected it to be a close game. The only thing that aggravated me was the fact that we showed we were capable of running all over this team in the first quarter. Then, in no time, we let them right back in the game. But don't get me wrong. Like I said, the D came up big when we needed them to, and the TEAM came up big when we needed them to. If we do beat Buffalo next week at the last game in the bowl, then we will most likely win the East. How exciting would it be to go into the new stadium next year with a MAC East title and possibly a MAC title!
  7. I couldn't agree more. Can't we ever just blow out a team? First Can't, then BG, now Toledo. This whole team needs to learn how to finish a game without giving their fans a heart attack.I guess the only positive for the defense was that they came up big when we needed them to.

  9. Oh i was totally being sarcastic. I figured someone else would say it seriously though. I have learned from my mistakes of scheduling fall classes at night just for that reason. I have had to miss a few games in the past (not to mention a few classes ). Of course school is way more important than football, though i guess it's a fair argument to say that missing one class to be able to say that you went to the last game at a legendary stadium is alright. Point is, it sucks if you have class that night.Really though, if it came down to the last game at the rubber bowl or a class where I have a test, I would be honest with that professor and let him know that going to that last game means alot to me and see if i could take the test at another time. I'm sure he would understand....unless he truly was a Can't stater Then I sincerly apologize for making you the basis of my rant. I know I can go off sometimes when I shouldn't.
  10. Lets just be content with having a team to really be proud of. Our soccer team has the potential to actually compete(and win) a national title!
  11. wow...just... wowyeah...I'm a student at UA...please don't be fooled..not all UA students are this naive. The open enrollment allows a lot of kids into the university who are immature enough to believe that a football game trumps the importance of their actual coursework. On the same token, the great facilities, academics, and professors tend to attract a lot of top tier students like myself, who realize what is more important(i.e. the honors college).I'm proud to be a student at UA, and by nature, I will root on my home team. I only wish they would stiffen the admissions here a touch, and finally allow the caliber of student reflect the caliber of the university. Unfortunately, it seems that if issue 8 passes, we will see the exact opposite occur ...
  12. Damn! Nice pic! This is becoming more of a reality everyday!
  13. That may not be as much of a "key" game if we lose to Toledo Nov. 5th. I believe it's safe to say that every game in the MAC East is a "key" game from here on out.
  14. Great points. The bottom line being: On campus stadium=higher student turnout. You have to take the freeway to get to the RB from campus, yet visiting teams comment on how obnoxious our student section is. Or take a look at the Can't game this year. The Rowdies made more noise than anyone else there. I can not WAIT for ICS!
  15. You do realize that of the 1200 AK Rowdies, 90% are now freshman. Most of these kids will be coming back next year. You add to that another monster freshman class in '09, and you have yourself a very large student section. Maybe we won't fill the whole designated area, but I think you guys are underestimating the student turnout as well.
  16. I think as the campus keeps expanding, and as football games are played on campus, ABJ will be somewhat forced to cover it, because the city will be talking about it.Not to mention the front of the ABJ sports page from a couple days ago was covering the mens soccer game win over UM.
  17. Galluci Hall aka "The Gooch" is by far the ugliest residence hall on campus. You are correct, a lot of Holiday Inn logos can be found. My thermostat still Says "Holiday Inn" and looks like it's straight from the eighties. It's easily the biggest party hall on campus. I've heard that the UA police have designated a few officers just for the gooch...and I believe it. Last night my roomate had to be carried into his own bedroom because he couldn't stand up straight. The next morning I found a trial of beer can tabs leading up to my door.Seriously though, I hope you heard right about Galluci's end. Personally, I'd like to see Galucci, Grant, and the townhouses all torn down and replaced. Othere than the newer exchange halls and the current housing projects being worked on, the South Quad needs some serious help. Yes, I understand that UA had to turn down a lot of kids due to lack of housing. I just found it hard to believe that they turned down that many kids! It's crazy how much this school is growing. It's evolved from a school were students avoid it, to a campus that no longer has the supply to match the demand(and that will soon change!). Good times at UA.P.S: By the way, dont get me wrong. Galucci is a party hall but I still love it here on campus. It's fun, growing, and constantly chagning. I'm so glad I picked UA over Toledo and OSU. At first I came here for the money, but I'm quickly realizing that I made the right choice regardless of how much money I get in scholarships. The student life seems to be improving constantly, and we are finally starting to have that REAL D1 college atmosphere.(an on campus stadium will sure help! )
  18. Okay, so I've driven past the site of the newest exchange res halls construction site, and I just recently heard how all that trash on spicer will be shut down for more residence halls(good riddance). Now, if I'm not mistaken, this new exchange hall is almost identical to the first exchange hall, so it will aproximately house 500 students. Then, add the additional 500+ students(it looks like more than that in the drawings, but for simplicity's sake) that will live in the Spicer housing, and you have room for atleast 1000 more kids than this year. That being said, wasn't there only about 150 kids that they didn't have room for this year? So that would make 850 spots completely unaccounted for(again, all estimates) next year. So that eiether means I'm completely overestimating how big these new halls will be, or Akron really had to reject a bunch of kids in this fall 08 class due to lack of housing. Does anyone know exactly what the situation is with this? Are my estimates way off, or did UA really have to deny admission to that many kids this fall?
  19. And just imagine if UA can actually get home field advantage this year. It would be nice to really show not only how beautiful this campus really is(most other schools have no clue) and show how crazy our fans really are.
  20. Temple looks like crap out there. If Akron were half as consistent as they should be I'd take UA by double digits later this season. OU doesn't look bad at all. Definetly going to compete in the East.
  21. Good riddance.I can't believe that guy(the former bar owner) pulled that "poor immigrant" crap. He inherited the stinkin place from his old man, and sells beer to Akron's low life's for a living.
  22. How many times must people repeat the same piece of information before it registers in some of your heads...
  23. shoot? Next week? I bet we wont lose for a few weeks. I have confidence in this team. Not to mention bye hasn't won a single game in the history of the NCAA. Talk about a lost program...
  24. Well, that is true, assuming UB loses to Army. Last I saw, 10-3 Army, 2:55 into the 2nd.
  25. thanks!
