  1. Found a pretty recent video of the info it shows the lights and scoreboard well.and here's another view: It's lookin great!!
  2. Hey my old alma mater! I don't remember hearing much about him, which I guess fits with the article, but I'm sure I can get some more info. I ran on the track team all through high school so I'm guessing he's made an impression there. He must have joined the track team his sophomore year, because otherwise I'd remember seeing him. Looks to me like he was underrated even on his own team with the way the zips coaches were drooling. The offense at McDowell over the last three years definitely wasn't a gunslingers offense, but things could change this coming season. I'll see if I can find out anything interesting...
  3. Looks like K.S.U picked up a decent qb verbal...Rivals Link...but who will he throw to?
  4. I think it has a lot of good ideas, but it almost needs something more simple to make it perfect. Simple and catchy.
  5. and their favorite foodthanks for the good work
  6. wow if I remember right we have a couple speedsters coming in!
  7. Doesnt that location have frat/sorority houses on it though? See, thats the problem I kept running into when looking for somewhere that the university could build an arena. Also, even if they can build in that spot... I don't know if it'd be smart to as it would block the main shot of the Info from Rt8, which I have personally come to love. No, not all of the area. Both Greek Village and an arena could co-exist just fine. And an arena would be seen on Rt.8 which would sell itself to the region without blocking the view of the stadium. One can't see the stadium from Rt. 8 unless one is further away from the entry/exit ramp. Also it's the other way around. A beautiful campus helps to build up the city. Research shows that would-be students and their parents look at the campus and make their decision based on its appeal and not the downtown area. Buidling an arena downtown would cheapen the campus and make it look try-hard and forced. No one likes a hustle and a joint venture comes off as a hustle.Well two years ago they both influenced me...Students want to go somewhere where they fit. I understand that in large part that has to do with the campus atmosphere, but you can't hide the surrounding area, either. Tons of students choose universities outside of big cities because they don't like the crowds, and tons choose the big city schools because they like the nightlife. In general, thought, most want to feel safe and not be surrounded by slums. Everyone is different! Sure some people only will attend a school with an on-campus arena , but there are numerous other ways to attract students (new library, green space, medical school). Oh, and to save me the time of having to type out a response: I do not feel that putting an arena on campus would cause the city to be nothing more than slums. I think the downtown arena has more short term benefit... long term I don't think we can really predict.
  8. hmm guess I posted twice...
  9. I think having a thriving city makes the University of Akron that much more appealing to prospective students. Who can say what location will have the greatest return? My thoughts are that a new facility in any reasonable location, done correctly, would be a huge benefit. I wonder what the basketball team would say. I don’t think they would want to play in Memorial really. who knows
  10. If only there was a huge, University of Akron sign hanging somewhere this would have been some killer advertising! Look how many views this video has lol. http://ebaumnation.com/2009/07/22/jordan-c...on-lebron-jamesViews: 2807183
  11. That's all I wanted to know, and I believe that’s where we disagree.I would be thrilled with any new arena (within reason) and see lots of benefits both ways. I believe that constructing an on-campus facility in the near future is ambitious to say the least, but of course I would still be thrilled!PS. If this post offended anyone please just offend me back
  12. I just keep liking Zeke more and more!
  13. i think they should tear down the old softball field and let us tailgate on the grass over thereI heard that may end up being the premium tailgate lot.I still hold out hope that there is a big event area in the Coleman Commons with all the tents and inflatables and stuff. The university would be stupid not to do that.I agree Coleman Commons would be perfect!! It should have been the plan all along.
  14. totally worth itJake you always keep me coming back for more, that's a fact! I'm just curious, but hypothetically speaking, if the city offered a joint deal that could cut costs 50% as well as speed up the process by about 5 years would you decline their offer?
  15. so now I can say how I really feel?
  16. It says CSO on the side of the truck so.....It's the Chicago Symphony Orchestra delivering 10 grand pianos for the team to play at half time!!!
  17. Here are some songs I think could be used during player/team intros. Sorry about the crappy videos, I'm just tryin to find some reference for everyone. I'd rather find something unique than borrow another team's inspiration, though I do think this would work as mentioned:I Put On - Young JeezyI can picture a team running out/being announced to any of these songs: (0:00-1:47) (1:14 makes me think of a team running onto the field.) (Not my favorite, but I'm sure some of the guys would love it.)Used before, but in my opinion these are perfect!Requiem for a Dream (Pretty amazing song all around.) (I even like the song at the beginning of this video, Ecstasy of Gold, though I'm not sure how it could be incorporated.)I think it would be really cool if each player on the team had the opportunity to pick a song of his own, something that would let him personalize the game intro to his liking. Then have a 10 second clip of the selection remixed into the opening so that the starting line-up is announced in both name and song. When each player has his name announced, his song clip plays. While it would definitely take some extra work, it would add a little variety and personality to the game.
  18. lol even he looks sick of the story
  19. I'm worried about parking, but I'm hoping for traffic. Thankfully I’m close enough that I can walk. By the way, how do you think they will handle the demand for student tickets? 5,500 seems way low to me. This isn't just a football game, this is history; students will be there!
  20. I think about this all the time and really think it's a great way to get the crowd into the game. Sometimes when I hear a song that pumps me up, I picture how it would look having players names called or a team running on the field. I think the slightest creativity could make an audio track the fans would love. I worry about getting the quality video clips being played over and over, especially when I look at the things posted on youtube, but know how cool it can look when done correctly. Throw in some sweet lighting effects and put a scare in the visiting team.I'll add some song suggestions soon.
  21. Pretty silly article, I forget what was mentioned about football.Makes us seem pretty intimidating ...but they don't know
  22. thanks for the great work
  23. I agree, but I don't see it happening for awhile. I'm a believer that if the team performs well, fans will show up no matter where the arena is. I think if one wants an arena soon, downtown is the best bet. For an ideal location closer to the heart of campus, we should buckle down in the JAR and wait for it to show up.I don't have my crystal ball handy...
  24. I could just as easily accuse you of lying, telling me I have a circle of bad mouthers. Please stop with your dishonest crap it's really quite annoying.I am suggesting that perhaps we should take advantage of potential partnerships when beneficial. Your views seem to be focused internally, which would thus seem to increase the distance between community and school. I too think the campus should overflow with pride. Why can't it do that with a shiny new basketball arena two minutes downtown and in the center of the nightlife?
