  1. On Scarborough's front yard.
  2. They haven't advertised here yet.
  3. I would look at head coaches with college experience, who have been through recruiting and playing the transfer portal. And strong strategy skills. Able to recruit and get on the same page with coaches and scouts. I can't think of anybody off the top of my head. A LOT depends on just how serious they want the program to be. That starts with the athletics department. They obviously want the program to improve, but how serious are they? .500 in the MAC and go a round or two in the MAC tourney? MAC contender? If they have delusions of grandeur, expecting annual trips to Omaha in June, they need a geography lesson...
  4. Never really thought about it. If I did, I would have to take a close look at the other professional sports and start cranking out the conspiracy theories. Meh. It's more fun o just watch and be entertained.
  5. I keep forgetting I'm suppose to hate him...
  6. J.T. is 0-7 with a team leading 4.50 ERA and 65 K's, and a 1.37 WHIP.
  7. Chris pitched 8 scoreless innings tonight giving up 3 hits and 0 runs striking out 7 to help the Mets beat the Brewers 4-0. He's 5-4 with a 3.89 ERA with 81 K's and a 1.17 WHIP.
  8. Pitcher John Creel (went pro after 2021 season) is currently in A Modesto after pitching well in one appearance with AAA Tacoma in Seattle's system. Pitcher James Meeker (A Zip in 2014 and 2015) is playing independant ball for Wisconsin. All Akron alumni
  9. So it looks like the fall/spring split season isn't happening this season.
  10. Zips in the Pros: Chris is 3-2 in 12 starts with a 4.35 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. He has 21 K's in 29.2 IP. The Mets are 39-22. JT is 0-6 in 12 starts with a 4.60 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP. He has 60 K's in 58.2 IP. The Pirates are 24-34.
  11. Let’s see what you can come up with…
  12. If nobody has yet, I'd like to welcome you to the forum, and hope you become a regular.
  13. That crossed my mind more than once, but I was hoping it wasn't the case. Then not seeing any progress as time went on, in a weak MAC conference made me worry. The previous coach, Rick Rembielak, brought a moribund program into the conference tournament and put two players into the majors (and several others who got a good look in the minors. Some still banging around the indy leagues). The team was set to break .500 when the axe fell. I was a Zips baseball fan long before I attended Akron as a non-traditional student. A classmate at Doylestown high school, Ken Berenyi was an all conference pitcher for the Zips and later head coach. Anyway, if they're as successful at bringing in a new baseball coach as they were football and basketball, we're going to have some fun. Fingers crossed.
  14. Chris Bassitt and Mets finally reach deal for 2022.
  15. Hot off the wire... Pac-12 scraps divisions moments after NCAA paves way Interesting article, hope this is the right place to post...
  16. The game didn't go nearly as bad as I was afraid it would, going up against a top 25 team (RPI) from the sun belt. Pretty decent crowd, with some marketing it could be a community event. The U could stand some positive pub. Next year bring Youngstown State to Canal Park. Make it interesting and competitive. Friday I'll be at Skeeles Field, should be a competitive game. The temp could hit 90^, that'll be a shock after the last 6 or 7 months of weather hell.
  17. I see the Zips have added three games against Purdue Ft Wayne at home. Hmmmmmm. The MAC Baseball Tournament should be played at Canal Park. Not on fake turf at Mercy Health Stadium. Avon is a more neutral site, and closer to MAC HQ. I just don’t like baseball on plastic. And there’s more for the fans to do before and after games in greater Akron.
  18. I work until 7:30 a few blocks away but will probably stop in afterward. They’re doing a Rust Belt sweep (Ak, Kent, and three with Pitt) to warm up for the ACC tourney. Kind of interesting.
  19. It's Senior Day. Ten players are playing their last college game on campus. Quite a few key players to replace.
  20. Ouch.
  21. This was probably posted before, but brings back a lot of memories… https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/lifestyle/2014/09/21/local-history-acme-zip-game/10606501007/
  22. I hope so. I saw where the Cleveland Cavaliers store their courts, as in several different floors they use during the season based on what special uniforms they're wearing or what holiday or special occasion is going on. And we still have the Zoro logo on the floor.
  23. As far as longevity goes, tOSU have used the block O with changes in how the colors have been arranged for 64 years, and is one of the most recognizable brands in the world. Iconic. Yeah yeah I know, we hate the Worthless Nuts. But, we want our university to be successful, sometimes you have to look at what's worked for other brands, including our rivals. In other words, DON'T MESS WITH IT FOR AWHILE. If ever.
  24. 0-4 against the kitties. But look at the bright side, we're not in last place. By overall percentage points. 🙄 I'm hoping to make it out Saturday for the Miami double header. Every home series this season I have something that comes up. Monday night they're playing Georgia Tech at Canal Park, I might pop in after work for that.
  25. IF they replace the old floor, or at least replace the logo. Something they haven't done in at least three logos. It's certainly not the worst, and not really the best. I still like the pissedoff Roo logo on my posts, but they wanted ONE logo, one vision for the entire university. Not just the athletics department. It has to look unique and catchy to prospective students in all of the programs. They are the ones the University has to attract. Not sports fans.
