TDM obviously announced his intentions but several other players (Antino/Ty/Hughes) have had interest in going with KD and/or going to a "bigger" school. Two issues: #1 - A "bigger" school has to want you, #2 - Akron could decide to block the transfer. It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. I'll also note that many in Akron were upset that TDM announced he was going to Duquesne almost right after the news broke that KD was leaving because of how that appeared.

He was a walk-on this year and was expected to get a scholarship next year.

Ty Dalton WILL return next year

Groce interviewed Sunday, Akron started preparing an offer Monday. Williams never seriously considered any of Dambrot's staff. Jamion Christian was the only other major candidate.

It can save a coach from ruffling feathers. Say a guy like Jamion Christian wants to see what's out there but doesn't want it to appear like he is looking to go anywhere to his AD/players/donors/fans. A search firm can act as that "middle man" for coaches in this spot.

We should know who our new coach is within 24-48 hours.

I'll acknowledge Joyce might do well in recruiting but he's an average in-game coach. Dru III would be great to be a part of the program, although he'd need to work his way up like other coaches before we'd discuss HC.

Antino thinks he can play and be successful at a bigger school. He was not happy about sharing PG. Josh wasn't happy with how he was used, but primarily wanted to play with his brother. TDM is extremely loyal to the staff because they were the only D1 school to offer him and believe in him. Ty Dalton...who knows? Notice he still has Akron in his twitter bio, might have changed his mind.

It doesn't mean they didn't reach out to him. He might just not have been interested.

Why make that assumption?

Not saying it's right but it's common for players to leave when a coach does. I'll also point out that Josh Wiliams, Tavian Dunn-Martin, and Ty Dalton are the only one's that have formally said they're leaving. Williams isn't going with him (I think there's a better chance of him returning to UA than going there - he wasn't happy with KD). Dalton doesn't seem like an A10-quality player, so I'm not sure where he lands. TDM is extremely loyal to the coaches because they were his only D1 offer. As for the unsigned recruits, you see this with almost every coaching change. I'll note that zero of them signed with Duquesne to this point, so let's see what happens.
