"12.8.3.1 Minimum Amount of Competition. Any competition, regardless of time, during a season in an intercollegiate sport shall be counted as a season of competition in that sport" NCAA By-Laws
-
Never meant to imply otherwise.
-
That is exactly how it works. One second of one game counts as a year of participation.
-
He's already appeared in two games so he has blown his redshirt.
-
Just to add some more to to conversation. 10 of 20 started there college careers at third school. (Bold) 2 were Ivy League players (Miller, Maia) which doesn't allow scholarships to grad students. IMO, the biggest issue with the rule is the number of players who are transferring twice in there careers.

Seth transferred from Liberty to Duke after his Freshman year.

The point is that they had success (MAC title) their sophomore year, under a different coach and different scheme. To dismiss their success over us this year as seniors as a product of a scheme is just being short-sighted. That team has talent and winning experience.
-
It's more than just scheme. Johnson and Greene, along with a couple receivers/lineman, were starters two years ago when they won the MAC under Clawson. They've got talent and experience.

Detroit released their OOC schedule
zippyman23 replied to Valpo Zip's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
What a load of BS. Mississippi State started 19-5 that year and was rated #20 in the country before losing 6 of 8 to end the season. 3 of those losses were to 100+ RPI teams, so to even suggest it was the loss to #55 Akron is just foolish.Let alone that Stansbury is out there warning other coaches not to play Akron. It's laughable and you must think we are all stupid. Label it as TRUTH if you want, but most of us smart enough to see past it. -
Temple is in the AAC.

IMO, the 20+ win thing is just something to be used in the initial recruiting phase to get the recruit interested in learning more about the program. That's it. -

Nothing wrong with recruiting off 20+ wins, but there is a limit to which teams we can compete against. Besides Akron, Noah's only other official visit was to San Jose State. Our gain, but I really would like to see us start enhancing our recruiting position. We've been using the same 20+ win pitch for 6-7 years now? It's great that we can still use it, but frustrating that there isn't more to sell. -
New offer: Henry Baddley (St V)

Committed to Butler. http://www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1570997-source-henry-baddley-commits-to-butler -
Switching to quarters isn't the variable in that equation that is making the impact. It's the elimination of 2 TV timeouts. There's no need to switch to quarters to do that. Switch the TV timeouts to 15, 10, & 5, and you would have an even greater effect. The 15-10-5 format is actually already in the rule book as alternative to the 16-12-8-4.
-
Timeouts can now replace the TV timeouts, but that's obviously not the case with end of quarters. The stoppage for the end of is going to be longer than your standard TV timeout, so there is really no doubt the moving to quarters will lengthen the game.
-
I honestly hate the idea of men's basketball going to quarters. Just another way to break-up the action and kill the momentum of the game.

Holmes signs a multi-year deal with the 76ers. First two years are "significantly" guaranteed. 76ers sign Richaun Holmes
-
Couldn't disagree more. Holmes has your prototypical size for a NBA PF, and has skill set that will transfer to the next level. Far from a project pick, let alone a "long-shot" project pick.

Moving the shot clock to 30 seconds isn't going to change the game. Scoring has dropped in college hoops despite going from no shot clock, to 45 secs, to 35 secs., but 30 secs is going to change things? I'm fine with 30 seconds, but it's just one step closer to the clueless CBB media clamoring for it to be 24 seconds, just like the NBA. That's not a good thing. More scoring doesn't mean better basketball.

Selection process is the same as any other early season tournament.
-
I'll have to wait and see how this is actually going to be set up first. Not that big of fan of playing the road games. Hoping some will be at neutral site.

The initial "whistle-swallowing", although the same ref that made the technical call doesn't appear to be in position to make the call, was not calling #12 in blue for putting his hand on the back of the shooter. This easily could have been called an "and-1". Call the push, and no one questions his need to hang on the rim.
-
You really think other schools know the exact reasons why he considered them? They don’t follow his every action as we do, they just know he considered them. The reasons don't matter, because they don't know the reasons! It's a two-way steet. I know that KD has been mentioned for a job in the past by the media, but was never actually contacted about the job, nor was he on that schools radar. With what Akron is paying KD, I wouldn't be surprised at all at the number of schools that have checked to see if they can entice him with a little raise.
-
It's up to the ref's interpretation, but as a high school ref myself, that's not a T in my eyes. Grabbing the rim doesn't make it a T. Hanging on the rim is allowed if done to prevent injury. He did put himself in that position by grabbing the rim, but whether he had reason to grab the rim or not isn't a factor in determining if it was T.
-
1) Why he was tempted really doesn't matter. What other schools see was that he was tempted by Duquesne and a $650k/yr offer. Other's interpret that as being open to another job. I interpret it that way. 2) Right, but you said other schools knew he wasn't going anywhere? If you are suggesting that other schools have contacted him, but we just don't hear about it, that really doesn't align with the thought that other schools know he isn't going anywhere.
