  1. I agree I hope Christian stays for a long time. Then OU will consistently go 0-2 against the Zips every year...
  2. Sometimes I get bother with extreme court designs. But then I remember that we've seen this in the past: Honestly I think that for visibility of a playing field/court, less distraction the better. I don't mind having giant logos or designs faded on the court. I wouldn't mind seeing the JAR have a cool modern looking court. Maybe a giant "Z" at midcourt or "AKRON" similar to how the Q had "Cavaliers"
  3. I completely forgot that UA is taking control of the building. I'm not sure if it's been covered here, but will they completely remodel it? Seems really out of place with the new campus buildings.
  4. Would have to think he'd have better options than Akron. Penn State, Cincy, Ohio State, Maryland, West Virginia... Plenty of big schools reasonably close to the city in western PA.
  5. Unfortunately if 2012 taught us anything, it's that a good QB means nothing if you can't keep the opponent from scoring. Hopefully the coaching staff can turn it's focus to stacking the defense.
  6. Really...I guess you mean Akron and Can't State then. Although I don't see Can't as very tough anymore.
  7. Darlington Nagbe just had a nice goal for the Timbers on ESPN. Gave them a 1-0 lead in the second half. I wish I could root for the Timbers led by Caleb Porter. But I get the same feeling of when I watch Lebron play for the Heat.
  8. I wonder who I'd rather date, Kerri Walsh or Kate Walsh?
  9. Bob Huggins coached at Walsh in the 80s.
  10. I've given up on a dream of a new arena. Just doesn't look like that's happening. Hopefully UA can do enough to keep Kest happy and keep her with the Zips. Maybe it's just me but I feel the women's basketball is definitely gaining popularity. We won't ever have a program like Notre Dame, UConn, or Baylor but their games are actually fairly entertaining. I will also say that having girls like Skylar Diggins doesn't hurt either.
  11. lol I would be happy to see 2 wins!
  12. Exactly and we've seen that it's very possible for any team to get into a BCS game. So this throws the "play in the spring" logic out the window. I have no problem with trying to get exposure playing on a Wednesday, Thursday, or even Friday night. But separating ourselves from the highest level of college football would be pointless. People call me negative, but I have hope that brighter days are ahead for our football and basketball programs. Moving down and giving up should not be an option.
  13. Please, please get drafted by the Cavs. My biggest fear is he gets picked by the Heat, but both scenarios seem very unlikely.
  14. Nevermind.
  15. Here's the thing. Lebron went to St.V's and I have no problem with how much money he gives them compared to UA. In reality his only connection to us is that he is from Akron and has close relationships with coaches/players. He knows, like the rest of the country, that UA is not Duke, Kentucky, or OSU. But he does give the Zips credit when they have positive accomplishments. Anytime a small school like UA is mentioned by Lebron it gives us exposure and in return gives the program a bump in credibility. I really don't mind if he doesn't directly bring in recruits. But it's his involvement in the Akron community that I support.
  16. We'll he's from Florida, so I'd assume he'd want to stay at a bigger school down south. If he's graduated does that mean he gets to play immediately? regardless of how many years it actually took.
  17. Clint Trickett is probably the skinniest QB I have ever seen in college football. Would have to say he has the build of most kickers. I think it would be tough to get a 5th-year transfer. Most likely if they are leaving their current school, they are looking for a starting position. The impression I get is that Bowden wants someone to push Pohl not take his position.
  18. I'm very glad he got picked up. My only question is, was his success a result of talent or the system? Very often spread quarterbacks are able to put up big numbers due to the system. A good example would be Brandon Weeden. Put up big numbers at OkState but nothing in the NFL.
  19. All I remember from last years spring game was Clayton Moore's long run. Seemed like our offense didn't seem very impressive then, but when it came time for real games they had improved. Hopefully the same can happen this season. I'm not worried about the offense, since this team's success will all ride on how well the defense plays.
  20. So I take it they aren't streaming video online of the spring game? Probably a smart move trying to get people down to the stadium to watch.
  21. He was the biggest coaching name available. He had already turned down the Suns and just about every other team with a vacancy was interested.
  22. Mike Brown is headed back to the Cavs. They didn't really have a big search, but I doubt KD would have been considered. Gilbert has always been a "big splash" kind of guy and couldn't see him taking a coach out of the MAC. If anything at least it will end the Lebron Cleveland return conversation.
  23. I can't imagine the offense is much different than last year. It was our strong point and the fact that the defense seems to be outplaying them should be a positive. If anything it will force the offense to get better. The one thing that does worry me is the concerns about the O-line. It doesn't matter how good the rest of your offense/gameplan is, if they have no time nothing is going to happen.
  24. I really do want to get excited for this season. So much of what we have heard is positive. But, I can't help but remember the optimism surrounding last season and how that turned out. After all this is only spring practice and we're watching Zips vs. Zips. Just too tough to judge right now.
  25. The worst part is...in 4 years this is the only concert to be at the stadium. No I don't count marching bands.
