It's official we are bad....MSU game was a fluke 14-6 to another terrible team give me a break No offense but people who said this team would make the sweet 16? get a national ranking? don't look very bright right now

I guess we just have to move on. It's obvious the refs gave them the game, but there's nothing we can do about it now. This will show up as an embarrassing loss on our resume. Only positive is that we we'rent going undefeated and the only real part of this season that matters is the MAC tourney. Whit that being said, I had us finishing 2-2 after this tournament. So this embarassment cancels out the MSU win and we'll head back home to play Detroit at 2-2.

They are Horizon refs, the outcome of the Akron vs Duq game is irrelevant to them. By they will hand Valpo this one. HAD to mute these squeaky voiced idiots "ahh we knew Valpo would keep this one close" yeah right...

and yet we're not playing too well against a bad Valpo team...it's too close for comfort

These announcers are terrible! Talk about homers... Go nuts when Valpo gets the ball and everytime Akron scores they say "oh well just a size advantage"

No loophole that I see. These are all 4th year students. Not only would they have to sit out, but they would run out of eligibility once they were done sitting. What about Russel Wilson of Wisc? Isn't there a rule you can transfer, play in your 5th year without sitting out as long as you already got your degree at the previous school? I could be completely wrong but just throwing out that example. I really doubt we'd be able to get that large of an amount of players from ND and they would all be able to play right away. Even if we did, it only serves as a 1-year Philadelphia Eagles-like fix. Stack with players that don't mesh well and backfires. I've talked to Gerry several times and he never mentions anything. Just an overall positive guy and great person that loves UA. If anything the arena and conference talks are a lot more intriguing but really don't believe them much.

Why? In the Preseason Coaches Poll, West Virginia received 13 votes, Mississippi State 11. Our win is every bit as impressive as theirs. And both wins were equally as convincing. People at Can't State say that their wrestler's national championship overshadows ours. So of course they would think that a win over WV is better than anything the Zips have every accomplished in any sport.

I was feeling good about this season until I heard about Can't winning. Pretty much makes our win over Mississippi State meaningless and will be overlooked by their win. Now I feel like we'll end up being a mediocre team, and like every year the MAC tournament is all that matters.

I'm glad they didn't get much press. I actually dislike them just as much as Can't, and I'd like to think we have a better chance of gaining the northeast ohio fanbase. Aside from a good sized arena, there's nothing about them I can like. Although I feel like we will probably lose to them...

I think we got lucky against MSU that they missed a lot of their 3's. If they started hitting them we would have lost the game.

Unless we could some how convince a big name coach to come in here, we will be losing immediately. Obviously someone who has won in the past but just let go at their school, Tressel? I'm not saying it will ever happen, but that is the only way. If anyone hears TW talk about football his first topic is grades. Everyone, please refrain from Can't bashing for a minute. Can anyone give me a good reason why this is the case? It makes no sense to me.It's really pretty simple:Can't had a better record last season than the Zips, Can't ended last season with an RPI of #67 to the Zips' #101, and Can't lost only one starting player while the Zips lost two starters. Both teams have added a couple of good transfers.Like it or not, Can't has another strong team that will probably be even more athletic this season than last, so the Zips will have to perform at a high level to beat them.What makes no sense is...why would anyone even want to play for the freaking school? it's mind bottling

Any word on the gift this year? I know last year they gave out bobbleheads which were pretty cool. The bobbleheads from this year were football related if I remember seeing online, with zippy in a Heisman pose. So, I doubt they'd give those out for bball. Something I think that would be cool is replica jerseys. Now hear me out, the Indians did this last year and they obviously weren't high quality. But to the casual fan I doubt it will make a difference.These giveaways are genius for the simple fact that what they give away usually isn't something you can buy in stores. Such as soccer scarves and bobbleheads. Replica jerseys are something along those lines that would be in high demand and exclusive to ticket holders.

We haven't had them since Dru, Wood & Rome played.I'm surprised they went with silver, but they actually have had it in striping on the shorts since they switched to Nike. It's kind of the craze now to add another color to a school. Oregon added black, silver and "volt", OK State and Syracuse added silver, Arizona State added black, WVU added black, etc. It's something the football team should have done a long time ago! Traditionalists will have a tough time adjusting, but the younger generations will find these awesome.
