  1. I think Cincy is a good example of what we can compare to. They lived in OSwho's shadow but still managed to move up, and only because of their basketball team. I'm not sure, but I don't think their football team was ever anything spectacular. But a big conference would never accept a winless MAC team...that is a fact. Sad though because we have more potential than any other mid-major program in the country.
  2. Man our football team really killed our chances of ever moving up. So sad that terrible schools like UCF and Houston can move up instead of us....
  3. Having been to both I can tell you, it's not. It's not really even fair to compare the two, they are not really the same, close, but not the same. Especially since one doesn't even exist. I think the people that made a stink regarding the football golf outing attended the basketball golf outing. Thanks for checking in TW. I bet if the football team still had their golf outing they'd be undefeated right now! my point was that when a pointless event gets canceled everyone around here cries, but when a good event goes on no one gives a crap. Always go for the negative, you waste your time complain about parking spaces and ticket prices when there are a lot of positive things happening.
  4. woops my blame goes to coach porter for being out coached, the official for blowing the call, and CSU for playing the game of their lives....that is all. *hides* I know that game for CSU might as well be "their" championship. They won't even make the tourney, and prob won't even finish above .500. The game meant nothing to us, so if any we should be glad the loss came now and not when it really mattered!
  5. name someone who has all of those?
  6. I guess there's no more offsides in soccer? the zips need to at least try here, Cleveland State is terrible....shouldn't even be close
  7. Who let Jon Jankowski do play by play for this game? haha I can't even listen to this guy anymore. I never knew our goalie's last name was Miyas, and #10 is Anthony Amwong...but hey at least he pronounced Kitchen right
  8. just says "off air"
  9. I had a friend that went to Halloween Hoops, they said it was a great time! I'm surprised no one around here went, there was such a big stink about not having a football golf outing. This event seemed better and more of a full family event...
  10. You should know by now, Suckeyes fans are not the smartest. They always believe their team is the greatest, and no matter how many games they lose, or haw many times it is proven, they will not accept the fact. They are just flat out overrated. ESPN said it themselves, fine you are better than Akron thats something to be proud of....not. There's a reason no one likes OSwho fans. Fair weather and no matter how bad Akron does, you'll never see us crying on the street corner like I saw so many people do in their stupid red and gray, that night they got spanked by Wisconsin. I even saw idiots turning their jerseys inside out! please get real.
  11. so what are they finally tearing down that high school stadium on campus?
  12. I thought you guys wanted someone with head coaching experience....evidently that's why JD and RI have failed...
  13. I'm sure our locker rooms are sweet, ask someone on the team...
  14. Plenty of thoughts on that subject before iCoach was announced, just use the search button. Nov 9, 2009 Coaching Thread Nov 16, 2009 Coaching Thread I love reading through these old threads. Everybody knows some credible source who told them this and that. You beat me to it. I was about to do the same thing. Yeah, none of us are coaches or AD's. I think we could have done a better job though. As an AD, I certainly wouldn't have hired a recruiting coordinator from a losing program whose HC was just fired. As the coach, I certainly couldn't do worse than losing every game and getting destroyed doing it. Wow, how exactly are you related to TW or icoach? I never said I was related and I couldn't do a better job. Next time there is an open coaching position at UA, go try to get that job! I'd love to see them laugh right to your face...
  15. Name a coach you would have rather had, with a legitimate chance to hire and don't give me any of that Mount Union crap I have to hear about... there's a reason none of you are ADs or coaches. Just because you are a fan you don't know more than them. Of course I don't agree with some of RI's play calling and I HATE losing. But think about it, this is not his team yet. He did not recruit a majority of these people. A good coach can't win if he doesn't have a good team, and he absolutely can win if his team doesn't care about winning. Not you, but actual Zips fans should stick behind our team, we ARE NOT band wagon fans like those from OSwho.
  16. I mentioned it in a different thread Are you kidding??? the 5 straight run plays in the 1st quarter (1st and goal at the 1) didn't excite you. But you can't blame RI, if the run didn't work the first 4 times, who would have thought the 5th time wouldn't work either? Throw a play action pass at least once...they knew the run was coming every time!
  17. Are you kidding??? the 5 straight run plays in the 1st quarter (1st and goal at the 1) didn't excite you. But you can't blame RI, if the run didn't work the first 4 times, who would have thought the 5th time wouldn't work either? Yeah, and on defense...who would thought that #83 for WM would be able to continue catching wide-open passes after the first, oh, half dozen burns? I wonder if #83 was ever even mentioned at halftime. But this is nothing new with Ianello. There ARE no in-game adjustments, so if a team wants to keep going to the same well...ROCK ON, baby! It's like we have a blind man on our sidelines. Or at least clueless. Even Eric Wright could have covered #83...

  19. Glad to see Michigan's cheering section of 5 fans made the trip, bunch of loudmouths wouldn't shup up at the beginning of the game. Looks like we shut them up...
  20. People need to stop complaining. If you want to be a fair weather fan, go root for Ohio State...
  21. dear Steelers fans get rid of rothlisberger he is a rapist
  22. Their "tradition" is alive and well today in Pittsburgh. James Harrison is a real good example of a Can't State athlete. Josh Cribbs is a good example in the other way (talks with the grammar of a 4 year old) but at least he's not a classless loser. Which hit would you describe as classless? I assume that's what you're talking about. The one on Cribbs, he was a running back at that point, so totally legal. Or the one on Massaquoi, when he took 3 steps before getting hit by Harrison? Anyways, I would describe him as more of a winner than a loser. At least Can't sucks though, I'll agree on that Neither hit was legal. They were cheap shots and Harrison deserves to be fined! Cribbs was already going down, so he lead with his head and wend right into the side of his helmet. MoMass was exactly the same as the TJ Ward hit he got fined for. Just goes to show you the extremes a team goes to in order to win. I guess the Browns could have targeted the steelers running back, but we're not that kind of team. We don't feel the need to knock guys out of the game to win. Want a comparison, remember Singletary's punch on Linhart? Punch our best player? refs missed it until they looked at the replay...wanted to ignore it... Can't state is classless the steelers are classless oswho is classless
  23. It's a RIVALRY game, of course they are going to get people there. I bet you all the rest of their games will be empty. Ticket prices do not keep people away, a bad team will. If someone wants to go to the game $5 and $15 is not a big deal. That's like saying I'm going to pay $45 to watch the Browns, but not $55. Don't blame our marketing/athletic dept we have a terrible team, just leave it at that. It's the process of coming to the game, parking, walking, sitting on hard bleachers, poor weather, and a bad team. It's not the money, it's the thinking "do we really want to go all the way there to just watch them lose again?" and the answer will always be NO. Another pro example, look at the Indians attendance this year. Terrible! Do you blame their marketing dept or ticket prices? no, they are terrible, but guess what when the Yankees come to town they draw a large crowd. It was a rivalry game, so people are going to be there. A good team fills the house, a bad one empties it. Everyone knows Akron has a football team, and they know all too well how bad we are. Until that changes, no one will go to the games, even if it's free.
  24. Ampi's in 2nd place now...really some person from Elon is in first. We need to step it up, no way that Ampi should lose to this guy...
  25. The difference is that we suspend our players for more than one game for minor transgressions while they either do nothing or suspend them for a single game for getting out-and-out arrested. Exactly, I don't understand why it is so difficult for them to comprehend the difference....
