  1. As am I. Indeed it isn't our job, but what exactly are we complaining about here? What specifically do you think could improve and what is the end goal with this improved marketing? I suspect the best way to get to the end goal is simply winning, something we've never really done in a meaningful way for revenue sports outside of soccer, and I'd guess the soccer program has a respectable attendance compared to the rest of the country. If having a successful marketing campaign was a substantial part of putting asses in seats in college sports and realistically doable, I'd suspect there would be a much bigger emphasis on it across college sports as it would make universities a lot of money.
  2. This forum will talk about marketing, new arenas, and the zips logo until the end of time, but its all just complaints without any real solutions IMO. How do you finance the new arena? How do you make football games a "community event"? How do you improve "marketing"? I just care about winning in athletics and I care about running a fiscally sound university that provides a quality education and isn't an embarrassment. If we're doing that, its hard not to believe some of this stuff will solve itself. I attended a board meeting for an org this morning, and educational institution in fact. The CEO was stressing they need to shrink and stabilize before they can grow. We've done that university wide the past year or so. Looking forward to better days.
  3. I remember when we were told not be salty about Dambrot taking our players because they were "just guys". Mike Hughes had a very solid career at Duquesne as did TDM (he won 6th man of the year in the A10) and is obviously doing well at FGCU.
  4. Where do you think Te'Sean Smoot falls within the names you mentioned? I know the previous staff was recruiting him and believe he ended up with Rich Rod at Jacksonville State. Also had a number of G5 offers as well.
  5. When has the MAC ever beaten "anyone" in OOC? Unless you want to count the occasional P5 win over a middling/low tier program. There has been no increase in games. Only differences I can find is that is appears we play two more conference games and two less OOC games comparing this season to the 15-16 and 16-17 seasons.
  6. Top teams used to get a bye until the MAC semi finals, now they don't, so that is one more game that's played (though it obviously hasn't happened yet this season). Fact of the matter is Toledo and OU are having pretty darn good years. Maybe the MAC, at least the contenders, aren't as "down" as some think.
  7. Albeit against inferior opponents, that's two games in a row where we've looked our part. Refreshing. Big one Friday....make me a believer Zips!
  8. Off game for the 4th best 3 pt % shooter in the MAC. Thankfully he's bringing it in other areas. On a serious note, Mike Dawson is 4-7 from three and is contributing in other areas like usual. We don't need Trimble!
  9. OK Clarke!
  10. Dawson is making the most out of getting extended minutes.
  11. We gonna defend the paint or what?
  12. Outside of a couple air-balls to start, nice first half by our most talented player.
  13. I liked Mike Wynn before it was cool 😎
  14. Agree. Utomi was good enough to transfer to USC. He was good and a big loss.
  15. For this year - sample size is obviously very small, but I liked how we played against EMU. For next year - gives us the ability to start Aziz, Enrique, Ali, X, and another combo guard...whether it be one of these freshman or a transfer. I don't think Clarke is the answer. I like X off the ball..he shoots a lot more consistent than Trimble.
  16. Project manager is my guess.
  17. Who dropped the ball in this not going to Akron?!? Seems like such low hanging fruit, and we somehow missed out on it on a national stage. To our rival nonetheless.
  18. I don't know if this is accurate, but if so...impressive.
  19. I want one of those hats.
  20. After reflecting, my comment may be an exaggeration caught up in the moment. I think he just makes some real "what the heck" plays sometimes where its clear he misjudges the ball or loses control of his body, but I suppose you shouldn't expect much more out of big men. Love Enrique, his story, and looking forward to see his growth the next two seasons.
  21. Wonder if Neal Brown regrets leaving Troy. Money obviously talks, but whether you've essentially got a lifetime contract at Troy if you maintain status quo or get paid at WVU for a few years, it's not like you're hurting either way.
  22. As much as we all love Freeman, he is uncoordinated as hell. Effectively gave up the game after being forced to foul after he whiffed whatever steal attempt that was.
  23. This team sucks.
  24. If he didn't though, we wouldn't have anybody that would try creating on their own. Haven't looked at the stats, but I don't think he's necessarily inefficient. I think he has the talent...he's shown it, I just think he's naturally not aggressive and it doesn't appear he can turn it on consistently. The team just desperately needs a dynamic combo guard. It is the missing piece.
