Williams played in the NFL??

I've never blocked anyone on this site, but there may soon be a first. Not because I'm offended, but because literally zero value is added and 100% of posts are combative...literally a waste of time to read.

If Rodriguez can do enough to convince the Zips to hire him, he sure as hell deserves it. However, that would involved at least winning 2 of the 3 remaining games. I’m not sure Saban could do that with this roster.

I would I think major donors at least to a large extent since it’s been reported they are covering the buyout… and to be clear really after 2.25 ish years considering the shortened season last year and the move being made mid season.

I can’t find the article based on a quick search, but I’m fairly certain it was as high as top 3 when he signed the extension a few years ago.

Both. We are calling them freshman because they are freshman. Just like every other teams has juniors and seniors who should technically be seniors and graduated without the extra year. We aren't benefitting from having 2nd year freshman because everyone else got the extra year as well.

I agree Bubba is gone. He’s an asset to the program without a doubt (and a great story), but I’ve always looked at him as a Joe Schoebert type of player. Stuffs the stats by making downfield tackles, but hasn’t provided much in terms of impact plays like TFLs, sacks, forced fumbles, etc…at least in recent memory.

I don't love the move, but I understand it. As I said yesterday, I would prefer to give him another year, but his record thus far is hard to argue against. I believe the ineptness of Akron's administration is at least partially to blame for us having to start over again. I truly don't believe Arth would be playing this many underclassman if he knew he would only have 2.5 years to show major improvement. He took the long game approach, and he likely did that due to expectations discussed with Larry Williams. There were also a lot of factors that made it more difficult for him, some he's responsible for and some not. Arth seems like a good guy. Best of luck to him. Many on here who have spent time with Guthrie speak highly of him. I sure as hell hope he gets it right. I do think Arth has established a foundation. We will likely lose a lot of players. Some that won't really hurt the program, but some will definitely hurt. There are also players who aren't showing much yet who will be really nice contributors for the program down the road. We need to get the new coach hired ASAP to build/salvage relationships where deemed necessary and to put together a recruiting class that is already falling apart. We want to avoid the Year zero sort of situation Arth had as a result of being hired so late in the process. Luckily for us, the MAC loses a lot of talent next year as a result of graduation, but we do not. We can also now bring in a max of 32 scholarship players. 25 regular counters and up to an additional 7 for players who enter the transfer portal on their own. We already have Blunt and Petereson there, so we'll definitely hit the 7 with the change in leadership. If all of the above is executed (hiring the right guy early, keeping the talent we have on the team, getting a solid class, and utilizing the transfer portal appropriately), we should be flirting with bowl eligibility next season. My expectations aren't any different than what they would have been for Arth. This should not be a complete tear down. For better or worse, there is no patience in college football.

Time to put your money where your mouth is, Guthrie. Your career depends on it.

That probably should be the case, but that isn't how it works in the real world. If it was, search firms wouldn't be a thing.

Unless Guthrie has a guy he is 110% certain to turn this program around on consistent basis into the future, firing Arth this season isn’t a good move for him IMO. Giving Arth the chance to make real progress in the year he had the highest chance to all along is like having a free bet. If it doesn’t work, he fires him and hires his guy. If it does work, well he gets credit for patience. Why not give yourself two chances to have success rather than one (which is all he would get if/once he fires Arth)?

That one hurts. A lot better than most other games though.

So why hasn’t Norrils been the lead back all season again? Offense looking okay. Need the D to step up.

Quan was a fullback at Wisconsin. He’d improve the talent level on our team for sure, but FB isn’t exactly a position we use, unless you guys think he would be better fit elsewhere.

The MAC is a bit late to the game …

The nice thing about tonight is that we get a game that doesn't count against high-end competition. Learning & Developmental experience and a chance to gel more before getting into games that count. Looking forward to watching all of the new faces and see how returning players from last year have changed.
