I’m not super excited about the names that seem to be in serious consideration, but that doesn’t mean they won’t/can’t be successful. The article also confirmed we are yet again using a search firm.
Probably right....just surprised he doesn't have a better position right now being that he should still be quite highly regarded. CMU was able to hire McElwain after Florida fired him, however. So hiring a recent retread from a big time program isn't unheard of.
Tom Herman anyone? He worked Fickell-esque magic at Houston, is from Ohio/coached at OSU, and really didn't do that bad at Texas (especially compared to his successor). He's currently an analyst with the Bears and will soon be unemployed again once Nagy is fired...not that being analyst in the NFL is hard to compete against anyways.

I'd bet my left nut Arth would have won at least 3 games next year (likely more). If that's all our expectations are, he shouldn't have been fired. In my mind, the right guy will be able to at least flirt with bowl eligibility in year 1. These players have a lot of experience and will only continue to improve. The right coach should be able to keep the majority of talented payers and can bring in the right pieces to supplement our weaknesses. Its never been easier to turn a program around quickly with transfers now being immediately eligible AND getting an extra 7 scholarships a year to account for players who voluntarily enter the portal. We have the chance to bring in 32 new should-be quality players as a result.
In my mind, the whole point of firing early is so that you can begin your search early. Guthrie needs to make a quick hire after the season concludes, and hire somebody who is going to focus on being HC of the Akron Zips right away and not wait until after a bowl season or playoffs. Early signing day is the 15th and we've seen the majority of players sign in this period the past few years. New coach needs all the time he can get to salvage this class or his first year will essentially be "year 0" like Arth's since he was hired so late.
Guys, there are still 2 more games you get to watch with that massive $30 you spent....always would have got the same thing out of it, the difference now is we don't have a chance to win this meaningless tournament.
Don’t mean to pile on the kid, but I really feel like every time I watch Tribble play he racks up the fouls on defense and is a non threat on offense. Just hasn’t seemed to develop at all since he’s been here.
We might as well be playing 4 on 5 on offense when Tribble is on the floor. I think our shots will start to fall and there’s not as much. Will the difference be enough to overcome the deficit is the question.
