Really nice first half of team ball. No over reliance on LCJ. Everybody is contributing in one way or another. Love the energy brought in by the #BenchMob
-
Ali has had some nice post moves.
-
I'll tell you what, Reece sure does get some weak fouls called against him. Good on him for keeping his cool as long as I can remember.
-
Ty Groce must be 30.
-
Prediction: we shoot much better against the zone at home than Ypsi and kick their @ss. Go Zips

We were the only FBS school to offer Riley and he was ranked .7682 per 247, which is lower than any ranked member of our current class. How on earth was he highly touted?

Mike Neu didn't win until year 5. I'd love for our program to be in Ball State's position right now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Neu Chuck Martin didn't have a winning record until year 6. I'd happily be in Miami's position right now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Martin_(American_football) Lance Leipold didn't have a winning record until year 4. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lance_Leipold There's 3 current coaches who didn't "win" until at least year 4 and they should all be MAC competitors for the foreseeable future. Terry Bowden's only winning season came in year 4 as well.

I can't remember what exactly Groce was doing last year in that game, but I got into a verbal back and forth with another Zips fan over it. I believe we were intentionally fouling down 3 or less with like a minute left (or something of the sorts) and I just couldn't grasp giving them free points when we didn't need to extend the game at that point.Turns out they sucked at FT shooting, then X hit the game winning 3 as time expired and I looked like the idiot. I still wouldn't have done what he did, but I guess it worked.

As official news as we are probably going to get.
-
Well it seems like our 3 most impactful players from last year aren't going anywhere for the time being.
-
Yeah it'll be tough. More likely 3-4. However, falling one or two wins short of whatever baseline you think there should be (while still trending upward) isn't worth blowing it up if its believed there is potential for the program to keep improving. And if you are able to show improvement year over year, I'm not sure why anyone would think we can't keep improving until proven otherwise. The goal in my mind is sustainable competitiveness. If he can't compete in year 4 when he has a team filled with all his players, they're experienced, and with 2 more years to fix issues, then its time to shake things up. We should all be looking at the patience shown to Chuck Martin and Mike Neu. It took them a while, but they got the ball rolling and their programs look like they'll be competitive for the foreseeable future. It can pay off.

3-5 would have been doable if we played YSU, UMASS, and NMSU like we were supposed to. I expect some progress next year, but just don't see us competing for the MAC (not that I'm saying anyone does). Not to mention we have a tough schedule. I think year 4 is the year we need to at minimum make a bowl game/be bowl eligible. If he can't get it then with a very experienced team and 2 more years to fill holes on the roster, I'd say its unlikely he ever will outside of a random season here and there, and if that was good enough, we would have kept Bowden.

So by my count, 2 former Zips QBs are QB coaches in the NFL. Pretty cool. I would think if Arth were to get hired he would be the same, maybe OC I guess. I don't think the position was ever revealed. Speaking of the position, I thought Thamel said a decision would be made by the end of the week. So if its going to happen I'd think we'd hear by today and assume no news means he's staying? Football Scoop doesn't show any Chargers coaches being hired yet.

KD would've take him out after the steal/layup. Gotta stick to the rotations.
-
then he hits the 3 and shuts me up!
-
Dailey's shots just arent even close right now.
-
WMU is also down 5 guys (including their 1st and 2nd string PG) and they suck. We are also a deep team. I expect us to pull this one out.
-
We'd better wake the hell up in the 2nd half. Tolliver getting the rebound on that free throw in the middle of 4 Zips was embarrassing.

Why are these announcers calling Clarke "Gavin". Is the 'r' in his first name silent??

Trickett going to Marshall instead. https://footballscoop.com/news/sources-clint-trickett-joining-charles-huffs-staff-at-marshall/

I just think we should do better than vague comments about players not being used correctly and patronizing other posters if someone questions it. Be specific. I don’t know if Arth will end up working out. I like what he stands for and that he’s a local, so I hope he does. There’s a lot of bashing of coaches, many have shown something to someone to advance their career. There’s a lot of bashing of him, he’s being looked at for an NFL job. Those are facts. Recruiting definitely needs to improve and/or we better hope he’s great at player development. I think his grade on that is TBD since many contributors are still so young.

Boogie in Arth's first year was used in the slot, like Bowden, and had approx 4x the yards he had under Bowden.I thought he was an okay 3rd down/spell back for Dollard this year. He may have ended up with more yards rushing than he had receiving last year if we played a full season. Fine in both roles, but not a star in either. Boogie took a move for the team and I commend him for that...yes it may or may not have been his best/natural position (though he was a RB in high school). Morris never played once under Arth. He was out all of 2019 with an injury and entered the portal prior to the start of 2020 season. I don't know how Stewart was utilized incorrect. He was on the outside, same as he was with Bowden and I don't think anyone would disagree with him being there. I can concede QB play affected his stats, but can't really think of a time he made a play after catching the ball. He was a prototypical "possession receiver". Wolfley was also used in the same manner as Bowden as an H-Back type with the random route thrown in(and hurt seemingly every other play). I remember him being talked up under Bowden but it never materialized into anything. Dylan was a straight special teams player under Bowden. Had 5 tackles in his first 2 seasons. Had 47 in one season under Arth at DL. He was around an average MAC player, maybe LB would have been a better position, but it seems like splitting hairs. Chances are he won't be anything more than a special teams player at Florida so we'll never know. Most of this isn't opinion..its fact. How do you think these players named should have been used? One of Arth's former assistants is now a NFL head coach. Many of his assistants in his short 2 year period here have already moved on to better opportunities. He is reportedly being targeted for a NFL job. The proof seems to be there that he is a pretty good coach and other CFB/NFL programs see value in his assistants.Trust the process, or at least let it play out before determining if this is a success or failure. We want long term success (I hope) and that will likely take patience.

What players do you think aren't being utilized correctly?
