We look like $hit

Dailey stepping up! This is the first game Ali is really sticking out in a bad way. He has had A LOT of shots made on him. Doesn't help that Toledo seems like they are shooting lights out.
-
Who else is going to step up and end the game with 15+ points? If nobody, Toledo wins. LCJ can't do it all. He has 20 and the next closest is 4 points.
-
M Jackson had 2 quick fouls and not he's back in tearing us up. Keep attacking him.
-
Very nice minutes from Clarke. Also liked the energy Reece and Marshall brought in that sequence.
-
they are calling them light
-
13 of 15 points have been scored on Ali. And nobody has scored except for LCJ................

Not to mention, it’s not like he’s been shooting at a bad clip or anything, at least based on my observation. We need people to be aggressive.

MAC Men’s Basketball - Catch-all Thread

medically disqualified and essentially a student coach. -
Good for Nate and good luck to him. He's the player who has left and done the most at this level, and he is still going down even though he has guaranteed immediate eligibility. Food for thought.

Keeping up with the Three D's (Dambrot, Dru & Duquesne)

The Dookies lose perhaps their best player. Unfortunately he ends up in Portage Co -
There's definitely a balance to be had, IMO. I think we may not have hit the portal hard enough the first 2 years and it shows, but having a team with a lot of experience the next 3 years will hopefully pay dividends. The staff so far in the late signing period seems to be focusing on filling gaps with transfers, both from the P5. I hope the majority of the rest of open scholarships are used in that manner with maybe 1 or 2 higher-ranked high school recruits (for us at least) if we have the opportunity to grab them. It remains to be seen if the model Jackson State and West Florida are taking lead to long-term success. Its probably easier to do at D2 due to the limited amount of scholarships. Use the scholarships on ex-D1 players and supplement the roster with non-scholarship players as you normally would. Who knows how this will go at Jackson State with Deion. I want long term success for our program. A Toledo or OU type of program. Not a program where we make or win one MAC championship and it all falls apart and we go back to the gutter for another 3-4 years.

For real..they couldn't lend us a hand and give us NIU and/or EMU?? We literally drew the top 3 teams in the West.

nepotism [ˈnepəˌtizəm] NOUN the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.
-
I was on the fence re: moving on from Bowden. I think nepotism was his downfall though. He seems to be putting together a new/nice staff. Good luck to him.
-
What a horrible loss. No excuses for this one. NIU program is in a bad state. Luckily all its ever been about is winning the MAC tournament and peaking at that time. We have the talent..just need to figure it out.

Watts was a dud from this staff's initial class. Came from a D2 program that dissolved. Got on the field a little his first year but I don't recall seeing him at all this past season.

Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. I would bet the house UL-M will not have a better record than Akron this year. Not saying ours will be that good, but theirs will be pretty bad. 1 or 2 wins I'd guess. They went 0-10 this season. I would think Bubba subjecting himself and the final year or two to the start of another rebuild is something he would look back on and regret. Hopefully our staff can convince him to stay. Nothing wrong with seeing a process through. Just look at the Browns.

Here you go. Excludes all players who are in the portal. You can trust what I post or not, up to you. The list is likely not 100% accurate, but its pretty close. Really its a group effort since there are some posters on here who know more than I do especially when it comes to walk-ons or players showing up after signing day. This list was started from scratch something like 3 seasons ago and there were some assumptions made. Zips Football Scholarship Chart.xlsx

Who knows what happened last season with a new coach and COVID, but this is an article hyping him up in camp during his true freshman season (2019). https://spartanavenue.com/2019/08/14/michigan-state-football-anthony-williams-jr-answer-rb/

Another Michigan State player! FYI - the same day we lose Boogie, we get a RB commit from a P5 transfer. Coincidence?
-
Bubba leaving would be a big blow, but I don't think it makes sense unless there is some strong loyalty to Bowden. At this point, the list of last year's contributors I'd be disappointed to see leave to another program: Randy Cochran, AJ Watts, Bryce Wilson, Janirr Wade, Bubba, entire starting OL, Dollard, Kelley-Powell, Corey Thomas Jr, MJ Horton, any TE, Qualls and Mathison. Those are players that I think losing hurts our team. Others are either too young/not enough playing time to make a judgment on or just aren't going to cut it. Scholarship numbers are important regardless, so we should be trying to limit attrition as much as possible so long as we aren't able to get up to the 85 limit.
-
So neither of these will count towards this year's counters due to the rules, but have strong reason to believe this tweet is in reference to Beckman and Bischoff receiving scholarships. Beckman started the entire year on the OL as a walk on redshirt freshman. Bischoff has been around a few years, and did somewhat okay at ILB next to Bubba. Started there ~half the games this season.

Boogie is another player I’d prefer to have stay for numerous reasons, most of which have been mentioned above. Coaches elected to move him to back up RB and play walk on WRs many snaps rather than keepin him at his starting position. With the WRs coming in, the prospects on getting Cole Gest back, and what Norrils showed against Buffalo, I don’t see where there was a route for him to get much playing time next season. He might go to another G5 program, but I don’t think I’d expect much else than what he did here. I think he’s a better fit for FCS or even D2 if he wants to get substantial playing time to finish out his career. Best of luck to him.
