Interesting that George mentions a walk-on RB (ball) and a Rb who is no longer here (AFAIK) in Childs.

For whatever its worth, sometimes I'm known to carry a loaded, concealed gun around. I don't intend to ever shoot anyone, but its nice to know if I ever need it that I have it. Sherman St in Akron is probably a place it would make sense to carry. The difference for me however is that I do it legally. Of course there are also some hoops to jump through to be able to do that, which consist of age, time, and financial resources. The situation is a bad look regardless. Just offering a different perspective. Whatever the intent was, I hope Dollard gets and stays on the right track or he might end up throwing away an opportunity that could change his and his family's life for generations to come. Its not worth it man.

I can't find what their assistant salary pool is offhand, but their HC gets paid ~4x what Arth does at 1.7mm. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Everett at least doubled his salary. What would you do? I hate to say this thought is creeping into my head, but can we really expect to ever be consistently competitive outside of our conference if we can't keep up financially with peers across the country?

This all just sucks.

Preston doing his M Jackson-esque post season impression. Needs to be more aggressive if they want a shot to pull off the upset. -

I try and talk the MAC up, then Toledo and UB go out and let us down. Maybe Ohio can pull off an upset or two, though I feel conflicted in wanting it to happen. -
2021-2022 Akron Zips Basketball- Looking Forward

Tribble being a top 150 player out of HS would be news to me. I don't remember him having any other offers. Maybe 1? I was a big fan of his based on what he showed his freshman season. Year 2 was a disappointment in my eyes. Didn't see much, if any improvement. I agree his shooting is biggest weakness, specifically his FT shooting considering his physical style of play. Need to be able to capitalize when he gets fouled. Not that his 3 game doesn't need a ton of work, I just don't think everyone necessarily needs to be a threat from there if they can contribute another way. -
M Jackson doesn't even look like he wants to be there. 5 shots the whole game with under 3 mins left.

ESPN2. Looking good against the mighty A-10 so far.

Marshall didn't do much this year outside of those huge baskets late in the BG game. Not saying he wouldn't have developed, but I think the staff was expecting him to come in and contribute more right away considering he came from JUCO. -

Assuming Freeman gets put on athletic scholly instead of full-ride academic scholly and nobody else transfers, yes. I don't know think either are a guarantee and suspect we'll have at least one new addition we don't yet know of for next season. -

Yup. Looks like we finally got our answer. Best of luck to him. -
Some did. There are still 50% less teams than are usually in it.

To piggy back on my opinion of where the MAC is, we get two NIT bids for the first time since 06. Thats also with a shortened field and no auto bid to the regular season champ.

We need creators. I think our role players are suitable, but we need players. and more than one, who can create. I think Ali, Clarke, and Dawson can be creators, but they aren't proven. We are also bringing all freshman in for the first time in Groce's tenure. Any additional scholly's that open need to go to players you think can step on the floor right away and create their own shot. If one of the 3 mentioned don't step up and we don't hit on a transfer, we are middle of the pack next year while some of our underclassman gain more experience. -
The A-10 really doesn't do it for me, and that isn't even considering what it would mean for the football program. Like B&G, I get genuinely excited about playing Portage Community College, OU, Buffalo, and Toledo no matter the sport. Those are good, regional rivalries we would lose by moving. I also agree the directional MIchigans and NIU bring little to the conference. I would much prefer the conference find a way to elevate themselves to a two bid league so it all doesn't come down to the tournament. Marshall and/or JMU would both be great additions for football and basketball, but I don't think adding quality programs is going to change national perception. I think it boils down to what the conference does in the OOC and tourney. Meaning make some noise consistently for a few years in a row. Buffalo went to the Sweet 16 a few years ago and hasn't fell off a cliff after losing two coaches to P5, OU took IL down to the wire, PCC took VA to OT this year. Also avoid the losses to the bottom feeders in conference play. I don't think the conference is too far off, just need to find a way to take that next step. Unfortunately money is the reason likely preventing us from taking it.

Buffalo doesn't have anything left after playing us. Oh well, I'm not sure we would have beaten OU the way they are playing anyways. -

I think Ohio is the favorite in the conference next year. Young and a lot of talent... -
Thank you LCJ for being a key part in bringing Zips basketball back as well as the way you represented the university and program on and off the court! Its too bad the last two seasons were affected by COVID. I'm not ready to see his time in our uniform end, but it sure seems like it has. Still feels like there's a void in his legacy (though no fault of his own).

Good game....rough loss...

Poor Freeman....he lost his hands the past couple minutes.
