  1. If I had to pick 3 and it gets us there from cost cutting standpoint, its hard to complain too much with the choices. Get to keep track, swimming, football, soccer, and basketball. Nice job. Of course its sad for all the student athletes and coaches who lose the opportunity. Hopefully we will at least honor the scholarships of the athletes as we otherwise would. One thing I do have to complain about is we just completed the near campus tennis facility a few years ago. That seems to be pretty much a waste now. Tennis program did spend quite a bit on travel and international recruiting, though.
  2. We should have never added baseball back and lacrosse, considering out financial position. Maybe its on Williams (I don't know), but my view from the outside was that was primarily driven by Wilson.

  4. ^^ I see the self serving academia nerds are trying to ruin sports just like they ruined us getting Tressel as president, accelerating this embarrassing mess we are in.

  6. I wonder how they'll go about scheduling. Hopefully us playing the likes of Buffalo, Kent, and OWho every year is preserved. 20 game schedule means you'd theoretically played 10 teams twice, so there would be one team you wouldn't play annually. Wouldn't make too big of a difference - but it would be nice to see some strategy behind the scheduling for NCAA tourney resume. Ex - projected/prior year top team doesn't play the projected/prior year worst team.
  7. What about Clemson and NMSU? Seems odd UMASS would be cancelled but not Miami. Maybe the MAC is looking at a conference only schedule this year?
  8. I fail to see how this link shows that my statement is factually incorrect.
  9. The only thing that matters regarding conference record is winning your division, as I believe that guarantees a bowl bid. Anyone outside of that is theoretically at the mercy of the bowl selection committees', assuming there are more bowl eligible teams than we have contracts for.
  10. I mean, he seems incredibly athletic considering his build. Doesn't seem like a Big Dog type to me, outside of figure. He can shoot.
  11. Good. Now lets fill those last two schollies with some damn good players.
  12. There are 645 tickets left. Chances of winning are pretty good!
  13. I'd be lying if I said that thought hasn't crossed my mind. High schools are even doing "co-ops" at the sports level while keep schools separate. It would surely suck partnering with that school and changing nicknames, mascots, etc..but maybe a step in the direction of what we all want athletic wise? http://www.exploreclarion.com/2019/01/15/feature-c-l-clarion-merger/
  14. I dont know....it certainly sucks that our better sports are the less popular ones. Soccer is not super prevalent in the NCAA and seems to be dying. Unlike football, where our coach is definitely paid in the lower tier of FBS coaches, I believe the soccer coach is upper tier. We did just give him a raise to keep him from leaving for Louisville. I would be legitimately down about the program being discontinued, but if i had to pick one of football, soccer, or basketball to go away, it would be them. I definitely had fonder memories at those matches than football, however.
  15. Clarification. The sign said Akron exploits black athletes. Apparently the whit or brown ones weren't/aren't "exploited".
  16. When It rains it pours. It’s no wonder nobody has any pride in this school. Constantly treading water.
  17. From the video and what I've read, the whole '6 of 11 colleges' statement needs some context. Seems like they are looking at some consolidations (ex. CBA and law school as mentioned above) to reduce administrative overhead that probably isn't really necessary. Doesn't seem like over 50% of the majors are being cut, which is what I think somebody would take from that comment on its face.
  18. Maybe it was just me, but I kept reading the article waiting for the answer that doesn't involve cutting sports and all they could come up with is salary cuts (not to mention it would supposedly save "millions")? Does not compute.
  19. "Stay in FBS? Meh. FCS or D2?! Sign me up!" Such an odd take.
  20. I've seen nearly every assistant coach post a recruiting graphic on twitter today. The optimist in me makes me think we might be 'okay' on the football side. The timing of these posts seems too coincidental.
