Well the AP vote was fun while it lasted. Combination today of getting our opponents best game and our defense playing sub par. Unsure how Toledo is barely above .500. Good wake up call, though.

Ya'll, I get Joe Moorhead is beloved in Akron for what he did during his time here, but he was fired from Miss State in just 2 seasons (despite 2 egg bowl wins) for a reason. His overall record was 14-12. 8 of those wins came last season win an immensely talented roster he took over. He didn't have control of his locker room. His starting QB got punched out by a teammate during bowl prep - and was out for the game as a result. Obviously I don't have a crystal ball, but "the stars not aligning" may have very well been a blessing in disguise long term.

Any additional insight you can provide? I just noticed one of our coaches like on of Williams' random tweets. Seemed odd there would be any sort of communication based on what we know, so I would think it may offer some hope. If Williams were to come back, I believe he should be a Redshirt Jr. with 2 years of eligibility. I wonder if he would count towards this year's 25 or not?

LCJ has just improved so much since even the beginning of the season. Fun to watch.

We don't talk enough about how elite this team is at taking charges.

While we will lose a lot after this season, I'm not too worried about having to reload next year with the additions of Dailey, Trimble, and Currie + the improvement of our younger players. What I didn't realize is that we still have the opportunity to add not one, but two players who are going to make our team better. We also finally have freshman who look to have bought into the system and will be here throughout their career (fingers crossed). Sustained success in the foreseeable future looks pretty realistic at this point.

Both players and coaches said how much they appreciated the crowd last night (with students on break, mind you). Akron basketball is back, its time for the fans to be back and get out and support them for the rest of the season.

Jackie is great. Like most ( and Banks as well), I was pretty dumbfounded by the double dribble call on LCJ when the ball was kicked by a UMASS player. According to her, since he sort of caught it in his chest first and then dribbled, it is technically a double dribble. Not sure that rule makes much sense to me, but its definitely something I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Good win for the Zips. Yet another game we wouldn't have won in both of Groce's other seasons. Nice to finish off the OOC on a strong note - on to the MAC!
