KD made more than that (with bonuses) his last year here, and he obviously achieved much less. -

You might want to look at how many players have transferred out of Duquesne since KD got there. Nature of the beast in a transition period. KD left on his own, was the highest paid coach in the MAC, and might as well have had a lifetime contract. Enough with acting like it was Williams' fault. -

Always been a big fan of Utomi, but I can admit he didn't step up the way I thought he would this year. Still hurts. I hope we get some good news, and soon. Tough to feel good about our program when we are losing likely our best player. -

The updates on Alvin are very encouraging. I saw corner as the biggest hole on the team coming into the season, but never really thought moving him there would be an option. Glad he has looked just as effective there. Probably a good thing for both the team and himself honestly, as I'd think he has a better chance at the next level at CB than S, due to his size. Maybe I was mistaken, but I always looked at him at the "QB" of the defense back there at S. He was an active communicator. I wonder who is going to assume that role.

Let's hope Matt does some lobbying for UA for the Chris Livingston recruitment. Hell of a player!

Many good, rational thoughts, IMO so far. I took a peak and just realized we finished the season with only 8 scholarship players Utomi, Ivey, Cheese, Banks, Poke, LCJ, Riak, and Roscoe. Williams sitting out, Toles injured, Gueye a waste, Marc transferring, and Sayles injured. I think if we're being fair, that isn't a lot to work with. Sure Groce is partly at fault. I saw the biggest need this year to be back up PG, consistent big man play, and a knock down 3 pt shooter. to create room for others. Do any of our newcomers give us that? I still hold out faith that one of Poke/Sayles/Riak can be at least a solid, consistent 5. It seems like Reece and Xerious can contribute to the inside game as well based on highlights. Williams is also a 3pt threat. Him, Utomi, and LCJ collectively may be able to get the job done in that regard even if we don't have a Kretz or McAdams level shooter. I firmly believe LCJ and Utomi are better than what they shot this season. I'm pretty high on Mikal Dawson and think Ali Ali is in line for a redshirt. I see the core of our team next year being LCJ, Utomi, Cheese, and Williams. LCJ flashed in the OOC and seemed to come along better towards the end of the season. He will always have to deal with his size, but he was also adjusting to "moving up" this year. If he can make smarter decisions and starts to shoot better, which i feel he can, I feel comfortable with him the next 2 seasons. Cheese is an off-ball guard, not a PG 2019-2020: PG: LCJ/?? SG: Cheese/Banks/Roscoe/Toles SF: Utomi/Dawson/Ali Ali (redshirt) PF: Williams/Reece C: Riak/Sayles/Poke It seems clear to me where we can afford to lose someone and where we need to fill a hole. This season probably didn't meet a lot of our expectations. I still feel confident in Groce, but he needs able to get next year's squad to be MAC competitors, barring unforeseen circumstances. We need a true backup PG and i think we're on the right track.

Turns out I was pretty spot on. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2019/3/11/18237536/uab-football-2019-preview-schedule-roster

I have not looked at the updated roster in-depth yet, but I did notice East's Jeramulin Suggs is no longer on it. If he's really the only loss from the transition, I think our staff did a hell of a job with player retention.

4 minutes of video for the first practice! I think I might see Alvin at corner. Spring prospectus also: https://gozips.com/documents/2019/3/8//2019_Spring_Prospectus.pdf?id=13688

Not the best example, but Milwee did it off the top of my head. For some reason I feel Amato did it too.

coaching staff finally official. https://gozips.com/news/2019/3/8/arth-completes-akron-football-staff.aspx?fbclid=IwAR0lFLTpEpGJQKVJC9pw3xBgpTj1I4LFE-XFE0AO9DsDie4lpP-JY6Rd9Es

Not according to our 2019 spring roster.

i got two better ones for you...Gardner-Webb.

Davis was top 5 in everything but bench and 20yd shuttle among his position group. Nice job! It might be time to start guessing where he gets drafted...

2019 Commit: Mikal Dawson (6-4 2G)

1000 points in a season?!?! Holy smokes. I am excited. -
@Illinois - L. Definitely a winnable game, but I think the Illini will be just a bit too much for the new look Zips. vs. UAB - W. I admittedly could be a little bit ignorant here, but IIRC, UAB lost a lost from their talented team last season. Being that its so soon since they've been back, I'm not sure they have equal replacement level-depth waiting to take over. @ C. Michigan - W. New high-profile coach, but they went 1-11 last year. No need to say more. vs. Troy L.. They lost their coach to WVU, but Troy is a consistent Sun Belt contender. @ UMass W. Its UMASS. vs. Kent W. Its Kent. vs. Buffalo W. Buffalo lost a lot. Not sure they have the depth to not have a decent drop off. @ N. Illinois L. @ BGSU W. Should not have lost to them last year, vs. E. Michigan L. @ Miami L vs Ohio W. Screw Ohio. I consider us retooling rather than rebuilding. We return a lot of younger talent who I have faith in and only won 4 games last year. I'll be disappointed if that isn't exceeded in Arth's first season. 1. 7-5 2. Kato. 3. Alvin Davis. 4. Tides are going to turn to the East this year and I think Chucky Martin or Solich (Rourke's senior year) finally get over the hump.

I have confidence in both Lubin and Riley, but they've each got very little experience. They could both end up being great players, but banking on them is pretty risky, IMO. With our depth of safeties (Davis, Featherstone, Hooks, Jacobs, Hall, Adetutu, and incoming Corey Thomas), I wonder if they don't look at moving one of them to CB at least for this year. I wouldn't mind one of our extra schollies going to a grad transfer CB to add some depth at the position. With what we have coming back and the recruiting class, I don't think I'm too worried about the front 7 and def not worried about the safeties. I expect the offense to take a big step forward. Our OL has another year experience and is healthy and some of our younger players who weren't ready last year should be ready now (RJ Kelly, Fonte, Devin Jordan).
