  1. This seems to be academic focused rather than sports and does not show the $ amount of contributions. https://www.uakron.edu/development/honor-roll/index.dot?letter=K&donor_type=indiv I was unable to find anything like that for the Z Fund, which I suppose is the reason I created this thread - to learn more about who has the power behind the scenes on the sports side. If I were a betting man, I'd bet @Hilltopper and @skip-zip can provide some input there...
  2. Not a bad article by GT, to be honest. Bowden singling out the #2 QB (and a R. Freshman at that) as the having the most impressive offseason is a really good thing to read. Seems we will be set no matter what ends up happening at that position. I don't like hearing the Suggs news at all. @94zipgradI can't help but think you just dropped us another "hint". I like to be a little more direct - Is Robbie Kelley no longer on the team and/or did Johns leave/continue with the change of position?
  3. Just insane. I'm bummed I didn't see the game. First 16 seed win over a 1 seed in history.
  4. We all know that money rules the world. We know T. Boone Pickens basically runs Oklahoma State. Phil Knight and Oregon. The Wexner's and OSU. What I think we generally don't know is who the affluential people are that can make stuff happen at the University of Akron. Part of the issue with Scarborough was that he rubbed people the wrong way and we lost donations. Those seem to be going back up now under President Wilson. Who are the movers and shakers that influence important decisions at the U? I'll start the list, feel free to add or argue why someone shouldn't be included as necessary. I'm certain there are some businessmen I'm not aware of. Lebron James - Obviously not an alumni (yet anyways), but the global icon and soon to be billionaire has partnerships with the U and has remained connected in one way or another since high school. Matt Kaulig - Former Zips QB, race team sponsor, and successful businessman as the owner of LeafFilter. His involvement with the U and football program is well documented. Jason Taylor - NFL Hall of Famer who has dabbled some in the entertainment industry. Estimated NW of 25 million. Don't think he is very involved behind the scenes at the U, but there is at least a little bit of relationship there and I think his words would have power. Goodyear/Quaker Oats/Knight Foundation founders and descendants are or have been involved. Other names to consider who I am unsure of their net worth/involvement/power: Joe Gingo (CEO of A. Schulman) Yvette Nicole Brown (actor) Mary Taylor (Lt. Governor of Ohio, Governor candidate, former state auditor) Dan Auberbach/Patrick Carney (Black Keys) Chase Blackburn (nice NFL career) Domenik Hixon (nice NFL career) Jerry Hollendorfer (accomplished horse racer) Sandy Pianalto (Former president of the Fed. Reserve of Cleveland) Younger alumni who could maybe be players down the road: Alex Bliss (Alexis Kaufman) - WWE wrestler/champion, former cheerleader. DeAndre Yedlin/other professional soccer players Jatavis Brown
  5. He's got another chance to really impress with Kentucky up next.
  6. WHEW.
  7. They're coming for us. Hmm.....
  8. That wasn't just an upset win. That was an ass kicking. I'm beginning to think the MAC might be better than perceived.
  9. Congrats to Buffalo. They went out and kicked a blue blood's ass who just might have the #1 draft pick on their team. I want Buffalo to keep winning. Means a better chance Nate Oats is gone. He's been very impressive, even moreso than Hurley.
  10. Buffalo off to a hot start. Not sure if I should root for them or against them.
  11. Any many of us definitely thought it was a possibility throughout the season.
  12. Damn that was quick.
  13. Sometime around the tourney I read something about Steinbrecher wanting to scrap divisions completely and going to a 22 game conference schedule.
  14. i might have to make use of it for the first time ever on a message board.
  15. The A-10 is down troll and the MAC is better using your favorite measuring stick - RPI. Only 2 teams would have been in if it weren't for Davidson winning the tournament. HOW AWESOME. Get a life and don't forget to put your season ticket deposit for the Dookies down, troll.
  16. WMU is losing their would-be 2nd leading returning scorer for next season.
  17. Take your knob slobbing of traitor "ken lolla' dambrot to his thread please.
  18. If I am not mistaken, Manziel is playing in this league, so I'm sure the people that matter will be paying a lot closer attention than normal. Hopefully Jamal has recovered fully from his injury and can make the most of it. He is an NFL talent.
  19. Super tough draw vs Arizona. Highly unlikely.
  20. Wanted to bump this - Spring ball is 10 days away and all practices are open for our wonderful fans who'd like to go and report back their observations
  21. Did I say he didn't, troll?
  22. If you truly know as much as you claim to know about Toledo's recruiting practices, then you should turn them in to the powers that be instead of letting our alma mater and the rest of the MAC get cheated. If not, it seems a bit reckless to throw these accusations around routinely.
  23. UCF's loss is our gain. Continue kicking ass, prez Wilson.
  24. and thats all she wrote. We pulled a Western Michigan.
  25. The refs refusing to call the 5th foul on Thompson is sickening.
