52.4 BILLION. Holy smokes. Quite an interesting investment considering how ESPN has been hemorrhaging money.

I've seen Balsy do it on bobcatattack O_O

Creampuff candidates on last year's schedule: YSU - Finished near bottom of Horizon. Horizon ranked 29th out of 32 conferences last year, using RPI. American - Finished last place in Patriot League. Patriot League finished 27/32 last year. Radford - Finished middle of Big South. Big South finished 30/32 last year. GA Southern - Finished middle of Sun Belt. Sun Belt finished 25/32 last year. Mercer - Finished middle of Southern. Southern finished 19/32 last year. Adrian - Not D1. Enough said. Coppin St - Finished middle of MEAC. MEAC finished 31/32 last year. MD Eastern Shore - Finished middle of MEAC. MEAC finished 31/32 last year. Candidates for this year's schedule (usng last years results): Cleveland St. (though this is a game I have no issue being played no matter how good they are) - finished near bottom of Horizon, Horizon ranked 29/32. UT-Martin - Won OVC. OVC finished 20/32. UT-Chattanooga - Finished middle of Southern finished 19/32. IPFW - Finished middle of Summit, beat us in post season a few years ago. Summit ranked 17/32 Appy State - Finished bottom of Sun Belt. Sun Belt finished 25/32. MVSU - Finished middle of SWAC. SWAC finished 32/32. Concord - Not D1. Enough said. Bolded is who I would consider cream puffs for each year. The MAC finished 10th in RPI, FWIW. If you want to consider UT-C a creampuff, fine, but then you would have to do it for Mercer last year as well

One of George's better articles, IMO. Maybe I expect too much, but this false statement stuck out to me. "This won’t be wide receiver Kevin Gladney’s first bowl trip. The Akron native, who also played at Firestone, began his college career at Nebraska, where he took part in two bowl games, before transferring to UA for his final year." This is Gladney's 3rd year in the program, 2nd year eligible.

I'll add this: It may very well be a 1-3-1. It looks like one no matter what, but in high school we ran an inverted type of 2-3 that looked like a 1-3-1, so it is possible it is really a 2-3. I'll have to pay closer attention the next time I see it.

Damn...I am jealous!
-
Good insight. I love throwing the zone in for a little wrinkle. Also helps our players rest some.

I count 2 real cupcakes on the schedule in MSVU and Concord. Maybe half of what has been there in recent years. Considering the timing of both cupcakes (right before finals and ending OOC), and especially the make up/expectations of our team this year, I have ZERO issue with it.

Let's all play nice I've enjoyed the FAU visitors. They have been mostly respectful. I think we would have similar feelings looking at stats, records, conference championship results, and point spread if we were in their shoes as well. Same thing I said before OU. We play the game for a reason!
-
Lavar comes from Lavar Ball, considering the apparent similarities between the two.
-
It was a joke based on your emoji usage in communication. I am assuming you got the Lavarr Nelson reference.
-
Could very well be ignorance on my part, but I haven't seen anything that makes me have much respect for the C-USA in recent years. What was the conference's best OOC win this year? What was the MAC's? I don't think we (as in the MAC) had any notable OOC wins this year, but have beaten ranked OK St and Arkansas very recently. I believe we've strung together multiple years with wins over B1G teams as well. What I do know is we set the stadium record for points scored against Marshall last year. Different team, but still. I respect FAU. We'd all kill for a 10 win season and conf. championship. I'm just not sold that they are some Toledo-level team all of the sudden when they have historically been pretty dreadful and Kiffin has only been there one season. This is fun though playing a team we have no familiarity with who the media is somewhat infatuated with. I hope our players are up to the challenge.
-
Have you been hanging around Lavarr Nelson?
-
Who would have thought we would have seen this at the beginning of the year? Go Poke!
-
The future looks bright at QB...
-
Couple questions for the FAU visitors: 1) What do you think the chances are that Lane is there next season? 2) What do you think about that horrible TV contract C-USA has, and what do you think the conference is going to do about it in the future?

Akron's SOS to this point is 236. You might have it mixed up with our old coach. His squad is 347 out of 351. https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other

I know Keyondre White mentioned signing early (and enrolling in Jan) in one of his interviews shared on here. -
Duquesne Basketball Coach Keith Dambrot

I hope he has more important things to do than read this board, even though I believe at least one of his family members do. All I did was post an update of how the season was going. Don’t believe I was critical one way or the other. -
Yeah she seems pretty good. If I recall correctly, they mentioned on the first broadcast that she used to be an assistant for our women’s team.
-
Actually Skip, I didn't do either of that. All I did was post facts. 1) Comparing scores really means nothing. There are countless examples that prove this. If it did, we probably would have finished in last place in the MAC last year after the opening game loss to YSU. 2) I recall you predicting somewhere between 10-15 wins this season and being one of the most critical of the Groce hire. So why are you moving the goal posts and finding it "concerning" that we might not look as good as the MAC favorite?
-
You mean the MAC champion favorite beat them by more than us? The humanity! I didn't realize we were supposed to be contending for a title all of the sudden. If it makes you feel better, WMU beat Cleveland State by a whole 1 more point than us.
-
We kind of got bailed out on that last foul call. The guy didn't really touch Sayles and it would have put them inbounding the ball from a very favorable spot on the court. Don't know how good App State will end up being, but they brought their A game tonight. Well earned victory and an entertaining game to watch to boot. Its just fun watching this team without expectations.5 true freshman contributing and only 3 players from last year (1 starter) if anyone forgot. Heck of a game by Duvivier. Big shots by Utomi. Ivey really seems to be finding himself. You are also already seeing some improvement out of Virshon and Kostelac. Huge improvement out of Poke, IMO. That can really make a difference this season if he can continue to be a threat inside. Cupcake next Saturday and then off to Hawaii for a chance of a big win or two. Go Zips!

Now they are starting to let them get away with a lot more contact than us.
