I think we will need him too. We lose Camara and Copeland and only have Boxen and Williams with any real experience. Brimage to me seems to be really the only other interior DL on the roster. Maybe Hanson, but he is on the lighter side compared to the others.

I think most will agree the past 2 classes have been his best yet. It will be interesting to see how those players contribute throughout their careers.

I would honestly be shocked if anyone previously thought anything different, though I would say that we competed with the top in the Sun Belt pretty well. FWIW, I am not a fan of seemingly patronizing the top of the MAC. I think Toledo and NIU are up there with the best G5 programs in the country most years.

I'm out of likes!

Fonte also had offers from Buffalo, Kent, and BG.

Looks like the first NLI is in! Whoever is running the account sound act a little more excited, though.

Always like hearing your opinion, B&G. I guess my counter to that would be why did we place such an emphasis on running the ball if our run blocking is known to be weak (and running game in general). I didn't understand 2 straight runs and then you're looking at 3rd and 10. Seemed to happen multiple times. Kato was 9/15. While that isn't great, I don't think its as ineffective as the run game was.

Do you think we were prepared on defense? Couldn't stop them from scoring on multiple 4th downs (nor bother calling a timeout to prepare) and didn't force a punt until the 4th quarter. Oh yeah, and we gave up 50 points. The pass that Amato gets amazes me.

They usually do the announcing of the commit on twitter once a signed NLI is received. I would guess logistics from the game ending late last night sort of throws a wrench in things. Lets hope they are just running behind, because I don't think it would be good if our top commits like White and Hooks had a change of heart and decided to put it off until Feb.

Just came here to check in. Haven't seen anything on the recruiting front yet....plenty of news for other schools on twitter though.

Well said and I agree completely. I'm excited for next year's team. No excuses in 2018.

Kiffin rubs me the wrong way with his classless coaching, but props to him for giving us an ass-kicking. Looking back, I'm glad I didn't end up making the trip down to FL. Congrats to the FAU fans here on the success, you deserve it, but I hope Kiffin falls flat on his face. History tells us it will happen. On to next season.

Last night was embarrassing. With that said, I think I would extend him, probably 2 years as I don't think 1 year is realistic. He is deserving of it based on what he has done with the program thus far, and it still seems to be trending up, albeit very slowly. There has been nothing that warrants a long-term extension in my eyes. We should have a better team next season. Some posters bring up good points that the deficiencies in the coaching staff are ultimately on him, and I agree, and it could end up being his downfall. I think I would try to force some assistant coach changes. Milwee is a favorite of criticism on this site. I've normally defended him, but last night was bad. However, I think he has done a solid job out developing the starting QBs and creating depth at that position (outside of last year, of course). I would be in favor of trying to bring in an outside OC and demote Milwee to just QB coach. As bad as the offense was last night, the defense was right there with them. Amato seemingly gets a pass on here due to his 2015 defense. That unit has been bottom to middle of the MAC probably every other year. I could go either way on wanting a change there. I do not see any changes being made to the staff unless somebody decides to leave. Good ol' boys club could end up being his downfall. FWIW, for as good as an athlete as Kato is, he's had one good game and that was vs OU. Miami, Kent, Toledo, and FAU were not good. He has quite a bit of improvement to make if he wants to be the future. He is not as effective running the ball as I would have expected. I wonder how long it will be until Kendal Briles gets a HC gig?

Damn..I graduated a few years too early! Coulda finally got me an athletic scholarship!

Woah Woah Woah. There was no robbing done by the officials on Sunday, sir.

Kiffin just signed a 10 year deal.

Game day Zipsnation! Let's shock the world!

IPFW beat Indiana by 20. Akron beat IPFW. Duke only beat Indiana by 10 when they were #1. Clearly Akron is better than Duke, right?
-
IPFW just beat the fighting Archie Millers in Bloomington by TWENTY points.

Does Balsy write for them For real though, it would be nice if the powers that be for both sites were "in it" together.

I would expect an article maybe, but I don't expect a presser, at least the day of, since it is the day after our bowl game. Another random thought I had about early signing day: I wonder if one semester is enough for the "non-qualifiers" (Bridges, Corner, etc) from last year's class to become eligible and officially sign? Even more, would players that could come back like Jest and King already be eligible and able to sign again?? Once again, I don't expect to know much or anything until the spring game or even fall camp because thats just how it goes here, but it would be nice to know that now if able.

Tamatoa Neher and Shane Johnson within the past week per @MACProspectus on twitter. Both look to be from Snow College (JUCO) and have Kent as their only FBS offers according to their twitters and were offered prior to Haynes being fired.

Timely Hustlebelt article discussing the state of the program. Maybe they can take one for the team and we can add Marshall back in their place? I wouldn't mind us getting the pick of the litter of their players as well, assuming we'd be a popular choice based on proximity alone. I'm sure they have a few worth a scholly... https://www.hustlebelt.com/2017/12/18/16787526/kent-state-university-football-division-one-midamerican-conference
