You are stretching my words quite a bit. Though I will say I think players value the opportunity to play against Penn State much more than they do Arkansas Pine Bluff.
There were the same complaints when he was here. Do you think Groce is making this year's schedule too strong? The Zips are largely in a rebuilding year under similar circumstances and our OOC blows their out of the water (and we only know half of it).
You guys realize this isn't like basketball and the schedules are made years in advance, right? It really is impossible to predict how ANY team will be 5 years from now. Hell even OSU had a year where they won the Sugar Bowl and then had a losing record the next season (and almost lost to Toledo). I can't be the only one who remembers Ohio beating Penn State a few years ago. I can't be the only one who remembers when we came within a few inches of beating ranked Michigan. Yes it turned out Michigan sucked that year, but there was no reason to think that team was going to suck going into the game - same with Penn State. I wonder if Appy State fans are complaining about the "slaughter" games. That "slaughter game" made them famous! Going against good competition makes you better and will prepare you more for conference play. You play the games for a reason. I bet our players are loving the chance to go on national television with a chance to shock the world. Go Zips!
I am admittedly not to impressed with his tape, but I did find this, which could explain why he wasn't offered by others. He was offered to WVU as a freshman - Dana's first ever offer to a freshman.

"At 6-3, 225 pounds, Wolfley will switch from fullback to linebacker at Akron, a position that he likely fits better at."
He is a class of 2017 3 star recruit (whose only offer was interestingly WVU). Looks like an early enrollee. I'd guess he has to sit out since he enrolled?? Not really a negative though as he is a true freshman.

^^ That is interesting! I recall hearing he was sticking around as a business professor (as ironic as it was). For some reason I didn't think that ended up happening though. I figured he would be back in Texas by now.
It really is nice to have a President like Mr. Wilson. Such a night and day difference compared to Scarb. Not that I'm defending him, but I don't really think Scarby ever had a chance though. Somebody had to be the scapegoat for the hole Proenza put us in.
Maybe his most insight ever! I liked that article. Sampson is apparently transitioning to LB, which is surprising to me. Hopefully he ends up contributing more than the last ST V. DE converted to LB (Junius). Two players getting academics straightened out. Can't help but guess one is Bell. The other??
If I am not mistaken, we know of Marshall, App State, Dayton, Cle State, and 3 games in Maui. That should be just over half of our non conference schedule right there.
