  1. He might have been off on a throw or two as every QB will, but his completion % is higher than its ever been. That's saying something with this group of WRs and their drops.
  2. Woody being washed up is BS and you know it. It's okay if you're wrong.
  3. I've actually thought a lot about this, but have not said anything being that we still have 75% of this season left. I do not think the cupboard will be bare, at least for next year, assuming 2 things - Woody's replacement is competent, which I think is likely and WRs WRs WRs WRs. Which I think there is potential with Stewart, Williams, and McGriff. We have more young players playing than ever, seem to be putting together our best recruiting class yet (who knows how it will end up), and we really don't lose much of value from this year's class outside of a few key players, but I think they have capable backups or backups with potential.
  4. I attended the game today with somebody who used to be a GA in recruiting. I'm not airing it all out there as I don't see how it helps the program and outside people read this, but I will say the lack of success (at least then...to me it appears to be changing, whether it is too late or not I don't know) was a result of laziness and being full of themselves, meaning thinking they can recruit at the last minute off of name and reputation alone. Would explain why many of the previous classes did not get filled up until late....
  5. Decided to look at some comments on the ZipsFB page on Facebook. It's not hard to see where Kato gets his apparent lack of class from........his father seems like a handful. I mean he truly believes we would have beaten PSU if his son was playing.
  6. I'll bite....because we got our asses kicked when we shouldn't have against a not very good program, and a lot of it was a result of us beating ourselves. But hey Keener, it looks like you're right if thats what you want to hear!
  7. Where to start.... Iowa State is a program that I think is on the rise but they are not a team that should have beaten us as bad as they did today. This is a game we could have won if we played our best, and at worst should have lost by the 9 or 10 points the spread was. We showed the ability to stop them and drive on them WITH EASE. Their DL (I don't know if they are any good or not) seemed to dominate our O-line as we were not opening up any holes in the run game. I am still not impressed with our WRs. I would credit some sacks to them. Those I believe are our two weak points on the team, but I do think we have enough talent to have another bowl season so I am not throwing in the towel yet. We do play in the MAC... With that said, my patience with the coaching staff is wearing very thin. We are still dealing with the same crap that we have been since year 1. Numerous costly penalties and turnovers. We always seems to make the worst of situations. Going for it on 4th down? Offensive line jumps. Ball gets deflected right in your hands for a possible interception? Drop. Fumble in the open field? We try and pick it up and run instead of jump on it and the offense recovers. Blown coverage. Subs look confused everytime one comes in on defense. Hell our defense always looks confused and its rare they are lined up on time. Time after time after time. These are not the plays of winning football program. No offense to Nick Johns, but I have trouble believing a player who was a QB not two weeks ago is one of our best 11 players to put on kickoff. He got knocked on his ass time after time and their wasn't even a return! Were Wolf and Bickley healthy enough to play or not? If they were, I see no reason why our best WRs did not start the game. If they weren't, why did we play them at all? Makes no sense to me. Darian Dailey in my opinion is a pretty darn good player. I see no reason why Jordan George (who I like, but think is playing out of position - even though he did have good coverage on that first TD), is getting so much playing time over him. I thought the Alvin Davis targeting call was a joke in real-time. It looked like your standard football play to me, but I did not see a replay. It was apparently egregious enough for the refs to uphold. That is another play that cost us. I didn't see the Kato taunt as I left before then, but that is very disappointing on multiple levels if what I've read is correct. Like I said, based on getting a read on a similarly talented opponent, I think we have enough talent to have a bowl season. We still need a WR or two to step up and I think holes will be there for Ball come conference play. A lot of our issues, to me, are a result of poor coaching. Injuries can't be used as an excuse (yet anyways). We need to beat the teams we are supposed to beat and finally get over the hump vs a decent team or two. If not, it's time to start looking for fresh blood to lead the program.
  8. I agree with most sentiments. I'll elaborate on my thoughts in the game thread.
  9. JT will not be in attendance as a result of Irma. Bummer.
  10. I was under the impression that $60 for a GA season ticket is nothing new.
  11. My thoughts: We are going ride Warren Ball on the way to victory!
  12. Yes.
  13. Can you share this? This is something the University should do anyways..... And for the record, we did see Stewart some, at least against PSU. edit: Nevermind. I see it in the ISU game thread.
  14. Yep. Containing Montgomery and Lazard seem to be the keys to victory for us. I wonder if Dailey will shadow him or if the coaches trust Brown as well to do the job. I am expecting Warren to have a good day. Pumped for this one!!
  15. Not a single MAC team on it. That HAS to be a first.
  16. I am not counting on any nonqualifer's personally although Bridges does intrigue me, but I have been following East and Brimage just looks like a man among boys. Storied Rivals (@StoriedRivals on twitter) has been dropping lengthy highlight videos in middle of the week after their most recent games for anyone who wants to follow.
  17. Hopefully it will not be needed. We have some guys who look like they could be the future at the position in Williams, Burkhart, Stewart, and McGriff (sitting out). MTB should also be back for his 6th year. Kwad Smith doesn't look like he'll ever round into a good overall WR, but he still has his use as a deep threat.
  18. That's a loaded question... Williams, Stewart, and Burkhart just because we need help at WR. Sands because he looks good and potentially better than Edwards. I actually assume he is, but am surprised by him being #4 on the depth chart. Sampson because we need better/more of a pass rush. Its good to have so many younger players showing potential.
  19. Agreed with both of you. I don't know how good they are, but they don't look like a joke and it'll be a tough game. Looking forward to getting more of a feel of how good our Zips are. Come out of non-conference 2-2 and I think we are well on our way to a bowl game. Troy and ISU will be good challenges as we all thought.
  20. We already have Northwestern and Illinois on future schedules.
  21. So far in the first 2 games the following true freshman have gotten playing time: Meeks, Williams, Burkhart, Brimage, and Sampson. Seems like more than freshman than usual. I like how Sampson looked on that series. Came away with the sack. edit: add Kobie Booker to the list.
  22. Yeah, no offense to Robbie Kelley, but I think at this point I'd like to see Kato get as much reps as he can now that he has established himself at the #2 and the future.
  23. this. /thread. all we need to say about this game. hopefully some back ups get some experience in the 2nd half and impress.
  24. She is good to look at though.
  25. It was only a play, thanks to Gilbert's INT, but Brimage and Kish were out there on the DL.
