  1. Spending 60k for some additional due diligence to potentially save you hundreds of thousands or possible even millions down the road seems like an okay use of funds to me, especially when nearly everyone else does it. All Bob Dyer had to do was spend 10 minutes googling the use of search firms in college sports and he wouldn't have to waste time writing and researching that piece and looking like a fool. I agree there were some good tidbits in there, but he is just uniformed.
  2. This guy isn't blessed. AND he had the nerve to call us Akron U!!! Revoke the offer! @K92 I wonder how blessed Blake Dennis was?

  4. I think what he is saying it that it is good for the coach to help get the kid a D-1 offer, which is what I take from the mention of the relationship with the Quincy staff and ours.
  5. Sucks the MTB is out again as he may have been our best receiving threat. I believe this is now 2 years that he has missed with injuries. It is good to see he plans on coming back, though. Hopefully Sands can get it together health-wise if we are going to be running a lot as he should be better than Edwards and Morgan.
  6. That scholarship was taken by the new freshman PG who needs a hair cut.
  7. I agree that it does seem late in the game and it probably is, but Verbal Commits shows that there have been 655 D1 transfers this year and 255 of them have yet to commit to a school. So nearly 40% of this year's transfers have yet to find a home. My comment had a lot to do with it seeming like Groce has knowing what he is doing or getting it right by recommending these guys to go (or however you want to word it). Dalton ended up at Juco and now Williams at a Big South program. Sidenote: Robo has yet to find a destination. Williams may be an outspoken Christian and him going there maybe played a part in that, but I'm not sure if he had a better spot he would have chosen Liberty. I mean he did pick Akron this first time around.
  8. Pretty interesting fact. I would not have guessed that would be the case. Thanks for sharing. Also, we are now technically at 11 with Lane getting signed again.
  9. Makes ya think!
  10. I do not believe I called you out sir.
  11. Ahem.
  12. Does anyone know when fall camp starts? Getting antsy to see what new additions or losses we may have....
  13. Hopefully it will be a good game in which the Zips come out ahead. Iowa State is still not very good, but they seem to be trending upwards (if even very slowly) under Campbell. I recall reading positive things about them this offseason. We get them after Iowa and before Texas at home on ESPN. Hope they look past us. We beat them out for a few recruits this season. We need this game.
  14. No doubt. Football and basketball are all I really care about (soccer too to an extent), but it is nice to have the best overall men's athletic department in the conference.
  15. This is cool I guess. http://gozips.com/general/2016-17/releases/20170531lq61ko
  16. I think they did it a half time. I recall stopping and paying attention to listen.
  17. I didn't cherry pick anything. Recent history is what matters. You're just flat out wrong if you think a kid gives a damn about what a program did when his dad was barely alive. You are putting a lot of words in my mouth. I didn't say players would rather play in the MAC than the Big East, even though its not an absolute like you're making it out to be (Zeke Marshall, anyone?!). I never made a single comment about Coleman-Lands. Depaul sucks and that is that.
  18. Can't wait til you contrarians try to sell us on Duquesne being a better program than us too since they won a few tourney games back before your parents were born.
  19. Hey skippy...how about you compare conference championships, wins, and NCAA tourney appearances between Akron and Depaul in the past decade. After you do that, quote me on "defending OSU basketball's rich tradition" and whatever else you're trying to say. The only thing I've ever said is that OSU basketball is better than Akron after our championship team couldn't beat their 2nd to worst team in recent history. I know it hurts, but its true. After you do both of those, then we can talk.
  20. Are we really citing achievements from the 70s (or earlier) to try and say a program doesn't suck? Hey I am pretty sure our football program is the last Ohio team to beat OSU.
  21. I think there are a bunch of "if's" which can make this a nice year or another year like lasts'. Nothing is a given with the program unfortunately. Regarding the PSU game...PSU is really dang good so I expect it to be...not close.
  22. Thanks Balsy. Much easier to follow something like this.
