The way the rankings look right now, it seems that the AAC champ is bound to get that bid no matter what happens, really. Hopefully the new playoff rankings tomorrow show something different, because we should absolutely hope for Toledo to be the highest ranked G5 team. I'm just spit balling here, but it seems like the MAC falls behind about everyone else in football budgets save for maybe the Sunbelt. We need all we can to attract better talent and retain coaches; and I'm not speaking for just Akron, I'm speaking for the whole conference. Based on the current AP poll (the CFP poll will probably be slightly different), the only way Toledo gets in besides obviously winning out would be for Temple to lose to CT and then beat the winner of Navy/Houston in their championship game. Somewhat of a long shot but certainly plausible. Houston being ranked so highly after losing to 5-5 CT is sort of a joke.
