  1. I know this isn't much help because I forget the name (damn alcohol), but I was told a JUCO DB from Mississippi signed his LOI to play for the Zips today. NIU was one of the schools we beat out.
  2. unrelated, but I think it is worth mentioning...the QB at Eastern Illinois has shattered all of Tony Romo's record this season.
  3. I hope KD finally decides to get rid of starting Melo. Him only playing 3 minutes is a good thing, but starting him for who knows what reason really hurts the team by getting off to a slow start. I remember at least two turnovers by him in the first 3 possessions. They have no chance to get into any groove with him. Evans and Q need to be the only ball handlers. I'm OK with Deji getting the start because he has shown that he can at least contribute in one way or another. I was pleased with Tree's play as well as Quincy's. I feel Quincy really was that "floor general" that we need towards the end of the game. Kretzer was huge in the second half and Evans hit some shots as well. Pat didn't do much on offense, but I was pleased with his defense and rebounding. Pleased with the win even though it looked ugly for a half. Not pleased with the FT shooting of basically everyone outside of Tree and Quincy. Enough tinkering with the lineups, KD. Stick with what you have seen will work and lets get some wins in Hawaii.
  4. I would hardly consider the PAC 12 a "real" conference. There are mid-major conferences who receive more bids than them. I think it was two years ago where they were only a 1 bid conference until that team was upset in the conference tourney.
  5. Congrats to Quincy. Anyone know what he majored in?
  6. That's interesting. I was on Walterfootball not even three weeks ago looking to see where they had QBs ranked, and Bortles wasn't even listed in the top 30 or whatever it is they do.Link here I'm not saying I wouldn't be favorable of taking Bortles (IMO, its a crap shoot after Teddy), just that all of the love seems to be coming out of nowhere. A WR that just awes me with some amazing catch every game I watch is Kelvin Benjamin (RSoph) out of FSU.
  7. I'm aware. I assumed the author was insinuating it wasn't "OK" to do that now due to fan backlash.
  8. Hmm...my mistake. I would've swore I saw it reported last night that they were 12-0.
  9. Agree with this. There is plenty of evidence that you don't even need to spend a high pick on a RB (even probably better off not). Weeden was a reach. McCoy was drafted in the 3rd round. Let's draft a true first round talent at QB and worry about this again in another 10-15 years. This isn't the old regime. The guy in charge now is the guy who was in charge for the Eagles in the 2000s when they were in the playoffs every year and made the NFC Championship in what seemed like every year. He knows what he is doing.
  10. Consider the source. I obviously think the Zips will continue to improve, but I think BG is going to own the MAC (at least the MAC East) for the next year or two.
  11. I disagree with the first part of your excerpt about it not being OK to be a realist. I think it's a cop out. Fans have the ability to look at their teams rationally, but to each their own, I guess.
  12. Toledo is 12-0 if anybody hasn't noticed.
  13. Didn't Juwan's son play for WMU last season? edit: He did play at WMU, but it appears it was a few seasons ago.
  14. The Browns have most of the pieces in place. QB and RB are what need upgraded (PS- dont spend a top 3 pick on a RB), as well as probably ILB on defense. Don't tell me it isn't possible to go from trash to an elite team from 1 year to the next. Look no farther than the Chiefs. I can't believe Bess and Little were referred to as "talent" and Gordon not. Gordon has potential to be the next best WR in the league behind CJ.
  15. Likewise.
  16. Wasn't very pretty, bull I'll take the win. We have talent, but fundamentals such as foul shooting and taking care of the ball prevent us from being a great mid-major team. Bring on Detroit.
  17. we run the press and get beat time and time again. We get pressed and turn the ball over time and time again. Stop trying to be VCU
  18. Tree seems to be letting the game come to him instead of forcing some shots that he was earlier in the season. Huge positive.
  19. At MINIMUM Tressel will be named interim President. Take it to the bank.
  20. Now we both know that Skip likes to ignore facts when attempting to make his point.
  21. Xavier > Cinci
  22. I thought it was good. Andy Geiger came off as a true piece of scum who railroaded Clarett out of OSU, though I dont think Clarett should have got Jim Brown involved (not to mention Jesse freaking Jackson). Last little bit of Tressel talk at the end makes me think he is done with coaching. I'm sure the haters will poke their heads in here, but everything I see from him really makes me think he is a great person. Not perfect, obviously, but somebody who really cares about other people. The doc didn't change my opinion, just reinforces it. And one last thing- I think it would be awesome if Bowden did at Akron what Tressel did a YSU (focus hard on the area talent). I believe the doc said the attendance went from something like 2200 a game to 22000 a game after Tressel started focusing on the Youngstown kids.
  23. Tressel isn't going back to coaching, especially after he is named the President of UA.
  24. Watch out for this kid Ricquan Holmes when we play BG this year.
  25. We are completely on the same page.
