  1. Harney has such a bad shot. Use your legs..
  2. I think this ones over. These white farm boys are too fundamentally sound to blow this lead. By far the best team we have faced and will face this year.
  3. McDermott is on pace for about 40 today
  4. how hard is it to defend the pick and pop...especially when its going to an All-American...
  5. These hicks are out hustling us. Another game with another one of KD's patented long period of time without a bucket.
  6. I will wait to judge until we play them.
  7. Its sad that there is better audio for WBB than MBB. Seems they did something right though...syncing 1350 with the video.
  8. So how do you gauge how good a conference is or isnt if nobody cares (BS), like you say?
  9. Alvarez is. I mean I figure Can't understands where they stand, though. It figure feelings would be different if Hazell was leaving Can't for Marshall or something.
  10. Saw Hazell is still coaching Can't in the bowl game. Class act.
  11. In his defense, he was out almost all season due to injury. I'm fine with it, though. I dont see him making the WR rotation with the guys in front of him. Just another scholly opening up, in which hopefully TB can get a quality player out of.
  12. Dylan Potts leaving the program according to facebook.
  13. Not MAC related, but nobody wants to coach Tennessee. I dont really care, but I feel their pain from last offseason.
  14. AkronMaction is too much... mAKtion
  15. Now I'm hearing Hazell isnt taking the Purdue job. Maybe Wisconsin?
  16. haha, I actually have class with 2 rifle team guys. Pretty cool dudes
  17. I'm hearing Hazell to Purdue.
  18. It would be a small factor, IMO. But I think Bobbyake summed it up pretty good. There is more that goes into it, such at Porter going out of his way to recruit students to show up or build relationships with the Rowdies. Hopefully that is maintained with the new coach. The players as well are a factor, which I'm sure reflects back on Porter again. The players are very approachable and friendly. Not self-entitled dbags (sorry) like athletes in other sports. I recall them going into dorms, and knocking door to door to recruit students to come to games. I also have to argue that what has already been mentioned, the quality of opponent helps attendance as well. People want to see us face WVU, Michigan, OSU, Michigan State, etc. Getting "name"programs is a factor in drawing attendance. However, unfortunately, getting a name program may not be the best for our team, in terms of killing our RPI. I will agree that it is a good point that students should want to come because of our team, and not who we are playing. All that you have to do is look at the soccer program to realize good student support is possible at UA. It is even more impressive that we are looking at soccer, a sport that is nothing impressive in terms of popularity in the United States.
  19. OK OK....I am going to really simplify it here.. Our soccer team has probably the best student support in the country. What separates the soccer team from the other sports?
  20. That's how it worked at my high school, although we only had 60 something boys in high school
  21. Really? Didnt bother reading the article, but all I have to say is hell no. What was that commercial..."ninety-something percent of college athletes go professional in something other than sports". Nowhere near everybody is good enough to go pro. It is a major injustice to them to have them major in "sports". Much like students getting art degrees or something. Athletes choose to come to school for an education. If they dont, they can go to some knock off league before they are eligible to go pro.
  22. I'd be a little more impressed if he wasnt doing that against JV/freshman teams.
  23. good points. Name of opponent is more important than quality. Same can be said in all sports.
  24. No. They are already hard enough to come by lol.
  25. Im not going to get into a lot of detail (prepping for finals) but a theory/suggestion I have is this... Akron has the label of a being a commuter school. I know the University is making efforts to get more kids on campus, but it is infact still a commuter school. This is obviously going to hurt student attendance, especially on a Sunday afternoon when nobody is on campus. I believe with the students we have on campus, more of an effort needs to be made by the RAs, (yes I said RAs and not marketing deptartment) to get the kids on their floor to go to games. Getting a group of people to go to an event works. It provides a social setting with people that you know and are friends with, and has a good chance of creating a few new "regulars" when they actually see the product we are putting on the court. My freshman year, I went to many things that I never would have if my RA had not organized it for us. Skating rink, rock wall climbing, EJ Thomas, etc. The upper class-man need to do a better job with getting the younger students aware and involved. Akron is in a unique situation. There is only so much the University can do so fast, but there is still a little that the University leaves left on the table.
