  1. How does Can't State get players like Dri Archer? man.. Very impressive what Hazell has done with that team in 2 years.
  2. The run defense unit as whole wasnt good. Our D-line actually had our better players, though. Caponi, Grice, Presley, and Griggs. LB corp was kind of meh. March will be solid I think, just kind of small this year. Mangum was slow but seemed to at least be able to tackle and plug the middle on sure run situations. Gilmer was just bad. I think we have some younger players at LB that will develop and we will be solid there. Who do we have coming up in the secondary? Commack was by far our best. I like Ford as well, but I see him as more of a hitter than a coverage guy. I dont think Holmes is good at all, same with Freeman. It seemed if teams wanted to pass on us, they could have (cant get the Miami (OH) game out of my head. I could be wrong, but I remember 3 interceptions this year. The one by Commack against Tenn, 1 by our DE against UMASS, and the other by Mangum against Toledo.
  3. missed this, nice breakdown. I think my biggest concern next year will be the secondary, as it was the weakest link this year, IMO.
  4. Pretty ironic post considering Bowden was the media a few years ago and thats where Mangini is now.
  5. yes. But its a little hush-hush. My problems with coaching last night off the top of my head: Fake field goal, passing the ball on 3rd and goal from the 1-2, wasting the last timeout to call a 2pt conversion play (should have been ready), the 2pt conversion play (a corner pylon fade is a very low percentage play), being too conservative by not going for points before halftime and kicking on 4th and 1 from around mid field a few times. Football isnt a hard game to understand people. I support Bowden, but dont act like he is perfect and that "some message board posters or media" dont know anything about the game. Depth was an issue this season, but it wasnt the only issue.
  6. I'm confused, Can't State IS in the title game and the game IS in Detroit? Am I right or wrong? edit: derp I see it now.
  7. Really not a fan of the second half play calling at all. Same story as the whole season, though. I'll give our staff a pass this year to get re acclimated to coaching D1 ball. I expect big improvement next year.
  8. Watching Akron football is just like watching the Browns. A slow, painful, and inevitable death.
  9. you have to be kidding me with this play calling. WHY NO USE HUNDLEY?
  10. Im so damn tired of blown coverages and so damn tired of Bowden doing his best impression of Pat Shurmur in clock management.
  11. Pohl looking good. Though I do admit, I dont see the point in Bowden playing Williams the first 2 drives if he was planning to go with Pohl.
  12. Starting QB and RB out for Toledo.. looking better for the Zips all of the sudden.
  13. I could say Williams could have thrown more TDs if he wasnt busy throwing so many interceptions, but I wont. You guys can keep being hypothetical, Ill keep using facts.
  14. Clayton Moore threw the ball 25.75 times per game last year. Williams has thrown the ball 47.09 (2nd in NCAA) times per game this season. Looking at that, Williams SHOULD have approximately double the stats Moore had last year. 77th in Total rating. Behind Denard Robinson lol An even better stat, Williams is leading the NCAA in interceptions this year. He is so good Take your blinders off, he is nothing special.
  15. Pretty sure Nicely and Moore each transferred on their own terms. Bowden didnt "get rid" of anybody. Williams isnt that good. The coaches will admit that Pohl is more talented. The reason Williams was the starter is because of his leadership and prior understanding of the system. Keyword, "system".Williams would have started over Jacquemain? Give me a break. Weeden is shit, as is Gabbert. They are starting because the teams dont have anyone better. Though Chad Henne looked a hell of a lot better last week than Gabbert has all year. Not sure why you bring Dalton up. I have never said anything about TCU producing system QBs. I really dont understand how hard it is to see that a QB who throws 47+ times per game is going to put up decent numbers.
  16. He didnt get rid of Nicely and Moore. Nicely and Moore did not fit the system. If Pohl is the starter next year, he will have similar or better numbers. Bank on it. There is a reason Williams was a career back up at 1-AA. Its called a system QB. OK St, Hawaii, Texas Tech, Missouri are examples. All have QBs who put up big numbers every year, but dont amount to anything else once they get to the NFL.
  17. Every QB who comes out of TB's system will have similar or better numbers. Take it to the bank.
  18. I dont think it is fair to compare the two, honestly.
  19. going to be expensive with that huge buyout the big east just implemented.
  20. Ill keep my coach (as will UA) who has a proven record for turning programs around and taking them to the top. You can take your coach that has a history of making his program a bottom dweller in a mid-major conference.
  21. The move was not made because of how good Maryland's football team is. You do realize Akron is in the Midwest?
  22. We fired a coach that has an overall record of 2-22. We currently have a coach with a record of 141-72-2. Get a clue!
  23. because I feel that is Walsh's greatest strength he brings to the team on the offensive side of the ball? Just like Zeke is our best shot blocker, Tree best rebounder, etc. Each player has something in-particular (their strengths) that make up a TEAM.
  24. I'd consider Walsh an effective 3 point shooter.
