  1. Depends on what you consider "turning around". We have won 3 games in 3 season. It is unrealistic to think this team could have a winning season.
  2. Its a pretty simple concept really. College programs arent turned around overnight no matter how much we hope and wish.
  3. ever heard of Juco, or transfers, or you know...players actually developing?
  4. He is a solid player that made some dumb mistakes. (Throwing the ball at an OU player down in OU). He had his bright moments along with his dumb ones. If whoever replaces him will be in that middle ground, I will be content.
  5. I like OU* *assuming they get some guys in the secondary back
  6. right off of AKron Zips facebook page. Fans come out to Johnny J's Pub & Grille in the Valley for an Official Zips Soccer Watch Party. Enjoy Food and drink specials as your Akron Zips take on the Ohio State Buckeyes, Tuesday, October 23rd on the Big Ten Network. 7. If TB can motivate this team, which may be really tough to do, I like our chances this week.
  8. Or maybe..just maybe Ok State is struggling because they are replacing their top 2 NFL WRs and a QB? Maybe WVU is struggling because they are actually playing decent teams now? Texas and Baylor are NOT good teams. Nobody is "catching up" The spread is very common in CFB. Its not like these 3 teams made up this offense this year. Lets break it down a little bit for the Zips. UCF- Good team. 14 points FIU- Horrible team 38 points Morgan State- Horrible team 66 points Tennessee- take away the pick 6 and the long TD by Hines, the offense mustered 4 field goals Miami- Horrible Defense- (111th ranked)- 49 points. Bowling Green- 19th ranked defense- 10 points OU- only undefeated team in the MAC and we score 28 points against them, and played bad. NIU- probably the best team in the MAC and we score 7 points. Breaking it down...we have scored points on the teams we should have scored points on, and have been pretty much shut down by the teams that should have shut us down. I bet we score 35+ on CMU this week. So much for the MAC catching up.
  9. Brandon Weeden played in the same exact system in college and he is hardly what I would call a running threat. The MAC hasn't "caught up" IMO. We are just playing better teams. The MAC is a quality conference now. Maybe the best mid major... The only not very good MAC team we played was Miami. We had no trouble scoring on them.
  10. Thats really not my point. I knew it would have been a very long shot for us to win. My point is that the team did NOT come out ready to play for the second straight week, IMO. Penalties, turnovers, piss-poor tackling (Commack getting straight up ran over by the QB on that "attempt". Akron didnt play anywhere near their best yesterday, thats what I am upset about.
  11. he had all day to throw it and decided to force it into double coverage. Bring in Pohl.
  12. how many times are we going to stack the odds against us right away and start with the ball inside the 15 on KICKOFFS
  13. Looking like we are getting back to our bread and butter and getting some rhythm. Quick and short passing game. Rely on your WRs to get YAC and make the Dline pressure of NIU virtually ineffective.
  14. lovely. had a chance to get points there.
  15. very lucky to be down only 10-0 at this point. No complaining about the defense so far from me. Lets get something going offense!!!
  16. I'll say it again, we look like shit.
  17. Williams doesnt even know the down. 3rd and 13 he scrambles and runs for a yard, and then tries to go back on the field for the next play.
  18. Dont get your hopes up. Merely a product of the system. See Zac Robinson, Colt Brennan, Graham Harrell, Case Keenum, etc, etc.
  19. I think we need to have a decent amount of concentration on JUCO guys again, more specifically defense. We are thin and weak on that side of the ball. I dont see any harm in getting some guys that can come in and play right away. And to be clear, Hines wasnt a one year guy targeted by TB. He has planned to come here since Ianello was coach. He attended classes in Akron while sitting out last year.
  20. Thanks Captain Obvious. I think we all have a consensus understanding that if a team from the MAC gets an at large, its because they will have dominated conference play and done well in the OOC.
  21. Agreed. I'd like to see Pohl get in there. I do still think every game is winnable though. How many personal fouls do we average a game? 4?
  22. Will you shut the hell up? Its obvious you are either biased and/or clueless about football.
