The NCAA is allowing schools to add these players without it counting towards the scholarship limit for this season, it would just be subtracted from what scholarships are available for the 2013 recruiting class.

Hey Terry Bowden: Lets snag some of these PSU free agents.
-
I will agree that you have some good suggestions. However, I do not understand your logic that everybody else got what they deserved, and PSU should be let off. I am too young to comment on SMU outside of what I saw in 30 for 30, however was Tressel at OSU when they received their bowl ban? How about Pete Carroll and Reggie Bush? They werent at USC anymore and the program was still hammered.
-
Okay, I get that you dislike the NCAA. What is your suggestion to be done in this situation? The legal process will work itself out. It is clear that this situation has shown that PSU has/had a serious lack of institutional control. It is sickening that this was covered up by EVERYBODY involved, clear to the top. I am not a fan of the NCAA either, but something needs to be done. Everybody associated with a program has to deal with the consequences. Not everybody at SMU was given free cars, not everybody at USC was given free houses, and not everybody at OSU was given tattoos in exchange for memorabilia. There is a great chance that any player who wants to leave PSU may, without having to sit out. That isnt punishing everybody. Their new coach? He knew of the possibility of this happening when he accepted the job.

1) He WAS 3rd on the depth chart. 2) He will only be around one year, because he is a senior. Also, whats it saying if a QB "that has never had success" and a freshman QB can come in and beat out our starter from last year?

there is/was a vegan restuarant right next to Euro Gyro. I dont even know the name of it, but I do know Ive never seen anybody in there.

agreed. a verizon store buying out their contract isnt a good example. All the other restaurants seem to do fine during the summer.

I will not hide that I was in the Clayton Moore corner, but I trust TB's judgement that Dalton Williams give us a better chance to win games than Moore.

I see his only other offer was from VMI.

Might want to take your hate blinders off. It's clear your dislike for OSU/B1G is clouding your vision to have a mature discussion. "M10","Luckeyes"...try concentrating on making some valid points and less on corny, unoriginal nicknames. -
seems to be pretty moderate discussion about Akron football in this forum. Open your eyes.

What does a football playoff mean to the MAC?
LZIp replied to psc2009's topic in Akron Zips Football
1st highlighted point: The Big 10 has numerous teams that are ranked throughout the year. They just beat up on each other. The B1G is more balanced instead of a top heavy league, like the SEC. If you beat Alabama (who Michigan plays next year, so much for not scheduling big time OOC's), and lose to MSU and OSU, that game is shown to be meaningless. It is what it is. Also, OSU has played Texas and USC in recent years OOC. They just finished a series with Miami who was supposed to be their big time OOC opponent. They cannot help that they flopped. 2nd highlighted point: The SEC is on a great run, I give the credit. However, two teams from the same conference being given the right, without a playoff, to play against each other in the NC game is a joke. Is it any coincidence that the system has been reformed the offseason after this happened? 3rd highlighted point: I am quite aware of OSU's all time record against SEC teams. .500 I believe in bowl games. Who cares if they self-vacated an exhibition game. Tattoos did not give them some competitive advantage in the game that they beat Arkansas. -

Interesting, some on here believed that nobody cared about Cant's run in the CWS -
Pitt doesn't win with their kids because nobody wants to play for Pitt. They don't win with anybody. Look at PSU,OSU, most B1G teams, and other big name programs around the country and you will find programs winning with WPIAL talent.

Wow! Finally an official word on Commack. Hope he works out for us! Thanks GT

I suggest that you watch some football. The SEC doesnt win anything because of superior SOS. They play their fair share of Georgia Southern's, Citadel's, etc. Playing a couple of tough road games OCC in soccer doesnt make or break your season like it would in football. If OSU, Wisconsin, MIchigan would have went undefeated they would have went to the national championship. The scheduling is fine. Not to mention OSU, a 3rd place B1G team, beat the #2 SEC team a few years ago in the Sugar Bowl -

why? Is the NFL regular season worthless in regards to post season? What about high school? This change is making it so that more of a "true" champion is crowned. Coincidence that it happens the offseason after 2 teams from the same conference play in a rematch in the national championship? I think not. -
Are you implying TB doesn't know what he is doing?

I don't think it means anything for the MAC. We don't have a Boise or TCU "type" -
you expect him to get some guaranteed gems before even coaching a game? He did what he could with the few weeks he had at the end of the last recruiting season. So far, it seems like we have already made progress just by his name. Landing a couple of players who ACTUALLY HAD OFFERS FROM OTHER D1 SCHOOLS.
-
No. Maybe Milan. Not Tristan.
-
seems like a solid grab!
-
Did the MAC not win the Bowl Challenge Cup or whatever it is last season? Also, OSU doesn't have a talent problem man. Last year they had a ton of problems. This year, yes they do lack Urban's "type" of talent. Remember they are installing a completely new system that requires different types of players. Let us also not forget the Urban has also said publicly that there is great talent in Ohio
-
It should be IMPROVED. But I dont see how we can be in that position unless our program is the level of Ohio State. OSU is the flagship university of Ohio and they cannot even get all of the elite talent. There have been very many elite players from Ohio (NE Ohio as well) who have chosen schools like UM, MSU, ND, etc over OSU. The state of Ohio isn't just a competition between OSU and the MAC schools, its a national competition. Agreed. I dont think GP1 realizes that Ohio is highly recruited nationally. They may not be top 5 per capita, but they are top 5 number wise. That is still pretty damn impressive. Like I said above, it's not just a race between OSU, Cinci, and the MAC schools. A more realistic goal, IMO, would be to steal a few recruits a season that have offers to B1G schools, maybe even one or two from OSU or another elite school. As well as being the the #1 option in the MAC for kids to choose.
