  1. Good points. I like the term re-tool. The original plan wasn't working to his satisfaction, so he changed and it is working great. 5 straight MAC championship games and 2 of last 3 NCAA bids. Stick with football...you don't have a clue in bball. His plan is working. Why don't you have a talk with him about his plan.
  2. I think he is pointing out that we are #1 on 11.11.11 Will be easy to remember
  3. I was surprised to see a negative comment after the game about McClanahan's play. I looked up his stats and sure enough...he was 1-10. But there was only one shot I think he should not have taken...all others were shots he should take. But my impression during the game was he was having a great game. Hi defense was stellar and every loose ball had a #5 fighting for it. He made a great save of a ball going out of bounds and almost an incredible steal and save of a sideline pass where he lofted the ball down court. So...I agree with you nitro had a good game but he will have to make those shots in the future if we are going to be an elite team.
  4. The one thing that bothered me was we kept picking up our dribble and causing high risk passes. that should be easy to correct.
  5. I think KD1.0 had an idea of what he wanted to do with the team and the type of player he wanted on the team. We got those players. After a few unfortunate loses in the MAC Championship game, I believe he had enough and was changed his recruiting priorities a little. I'm not saying this, he said it. In comes KD2.0 and we see the results the other evening. It has nothing to do with a "building process" and everything to do with a coach who made a decision he needed to take his program in a different direction. He made the changes for the good of the program and didn't let his ego get in the way. What makes KD2.0 a good coach isn't his building process, but his ability to admit what he was doing was falling short and he needed to do something different. The building process wasn't actually working or had at least stalled. He made a decision to go in another direction and is making that decision work. I'll take an open minded guy before a "building process" guy every day. I have much, much, much more confidence in KD2.0 than 1.0. I also have much more interest in this team than I ever have and I look forward to watching them play as much as possible this season. This is an EXCITING basketball team. KD1.0 teams weren't very exciting and gave the fans more disappointing moments than they should have. Go Zips! That does not match the words coming directly from the mouth of Dambrot when I have spoken with him. Maybe DiG, Hilltopper or GoZips can correct my misinterpretation of what was said the one time he spoke to us as a group. The other times were one on one. I think you are 100% wrong....it is his process of building a sustainable program.
  6. shhhh....you just gave it away lol..I was going to post the week of WVU game that Zeke is questionable to play due to re-injuring the injury he had during the Mississippi State game....oh well lol (My apologies to GameChngr44 for joking about Zeke's health) Better you than DiG. You are a student. You can say you saw him using a crutch and limping. "Not serious but will miss a few gamse". We need to get everybody involved for the "great deception". They should not be on our board anyway
  7. i guess I expect to see that thread in a few weeks with your name as originator. Everybody better know to play along.
  8. Diop and Hollins are 2 more. Zeke will play in the NBA and stick around for a long time (assuming no injury). One more thing he has going for him is that he is not a punk or bad guy (and he is a genuinely GOOD guy...all the better). NBA Execs may carry punks and trouble makers if they are great...but not if they are role players. Zeke has upside that may be developed by coaching and 100% focus (without the distraction of school). How well he does will depend on him. And those options will multiply once he has the money from his NBA career in the bank.
  9. Could you imagine how good the Lakers might have been if Kareem or Magic was in the 6th man role? Diggs starts. Period. Remember when Kevin McHale was the best sixth man in the NBA? One second after the game started, the Celtics would send him to the scorer's table to enter the game. He was actually a starter. It was a joke. Diggs is the best player on the team and looks like what a D1A basketball player should look like. It's called talent and this program finally has the talent it could have had for years. I like Keith Dambrot Version 2.0 much more than Version 1.0. I might even start calling him KD2.0. Like GoZips, I believe Harney has greater upside and may reach it soon. Some writer commented that they can see him winning multiple MAC POY awards. I think that is why GoZips he believes Diggs should take the 6th man role. I think Diggs will always start. It is a nice arguement to have...too much talent and who should start.

  11. Statistical D.I.G pooh-poohing our #1 ranking? Did I log on to bizarrozipsnation.org by mistake? I understand it. People are starting to know who Akron is after we won the futbol national championship last year. Maybe we should get a list of upcoming games we need to root for and track like thay have on the soccer forum.
  12. I don't always agree with DiG. But I can say that he has never "made up" anything. But...I do know he can spin a yarn as well as anyone on this site
  13. Not "made up".. "Nicknamed "Hondo", (a name inspired by the John Wayne movie of the same name), Havlicek revolutionized the "sixth man" role, and has been immortalized for his clutch steal in the closing seconds of the 1965 Eastern Conference championship." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Havlicek Easier to get a definition of a common word than a sports concept. Although I think Q should start, I respect the idea that he come off the bench suggested by some posters. Dambrot can pick when to use him and the best time. The best pitcher in baseball is not always the guy who starts...but who finishes. As long as Q gets his 25-30 minutes and is in at the end of games...I don't care. Someone mentioned that Jordan would have made a great 6th man (sarcasm I think). But he would have. And I am sure that is what he would have done had he believed it gave his team the best chance to win. Jordan was ALL about winning. I think Dambrot will use Q to his greatest impact on the game and I trust his instincts and decisions. But...don't underestimate the 6th man role...Havlicek did not and is in the HOF.
  14. I agree 100%. JD was a great guy. I rooted harder for him because he was such a class guy. But...I did not think he was a great HC. Some guys are not cut out for it. Look at Dave Wannstadt...great coach but not a good HC at any level. I wish JD nothing but the best. I do think that the type of guys he recruited set us back. How much is just a WAG. iCoach now has the team and all the success and failure needs to belong to him...right or wrong. He has made many mistakes. Hopefully he will figure it out soon because having him succeed is our best option. I returned to Miami last week to watch the game. Miserable weather the day of the game…but every other day was beautiful. Saw Treadwell walking from his home on campus to the stadium. It was a different feeling seeing a guy content and happy to be the HC of the school he dreamed of coaching (Miami grad). He was passed over twice before and finally got the job. It does not appear that he will be going anywhere anytime soon. Contrast that to Haywood who only stayed 2 years and iCoach. Both see their current job as a career stepping stonewith no need to be overly involved with the community. Just build a winner and move on. Look how much better the futbol and basketball programs are perceived by the Alumni and students at UofA. I am more convinced than ever that we should turn to Paul Winters if iCaoch is fired. Bring in Hixon as a WR coach and get people here that want to be here and love the UofA. I know some will say that will set us back if they fail…but most older (and wiser) Zips know that we never had success so there is really nothing to lose….just delaying the climb up. Just my opinion.
  15. ....and congratulations to the coach and his staff for being in a position where you get asked for interviews by a girl who looks like that Hence the smile
  16. I enjoy reading your comments and opinions on the Zips. +1 Don't find anything passive aggressive.
  17. One of the Rowdies should dress up as this guy every game and do an imitation of the question and let our crown follow with the response. I think it would be great on breaks and before the game.
  18. I agree with almost 100% of your post… but there are going to be people who it seems should have known but did nothing but were expected to look closer. When a squeaky clean guy like Paterno (and maybe even Sandusky)is involved and no accusations have ever come to light most are just going to trust that things are OK. So...we need to investigate but do it in a calm, rational manner rather than a lynch mob looking for the next victim on the tree. And...leave the Federal Government out of this. They have no jurisdiction here unless the boys are from out-of-state and that does not appear to be the case. They can't even investigate Holder or Solyndra professionally. It is the United STATES...I like it that way ;-)
  19. +1 Well said. I don't think Paterno is a bad guy and will realize what a huge mistake he made. Hopefully he can spend the remainder of his life correcting this error.
  20. She knows pre-season stuff is worthless, and it's what you do during the season that counts. You mean like last night? Not "Turtle" wax tho...inplies that he is slow. More like "Zip" wax. Or...just "Wax" He protects the paint and definetly wax some balls outa here!!!
  21. Sorry...age is no excuse. This line of thinking is just lame rationalization. And really...he was a spring chicken age of 74 when the issue occurred and 70 when the very first issue took place. Next thing it will be the hair...bald people are more sensitive and understanding. This is a "Yes" box and "No" box issue. I believe PSU will do the right thing....anyone involved will no longer be employed by the university.
  22. I would like to submit that if my esteemed colleague from Green had a chance to design a form that would allow a University employee to report child rape, along with a six month procedure that would explore every possible avenue of wrong doing before acting, this would have never happened. Not funny.yea....the villiage idiot from NC is in rare form today. Some topics are off limits for jokes. For GP1...jokes about illegal immigrants are fighting words but it is ok to joke about rape. My guess is he does not have kids...no parent could be so insensitive.
  23. To be fair...previous Zip teams did not have the talent level and depth of this team.
  24. I like people who can apologize. But the poster was wrong thinking you should research something in his post before your respond. Sarcasm and humor are not always understood in the printed form. that is why we have icons (smiley faces and others) to let the random reader understand. Oh yea...what about "at"?? As in "where are you at??" That is the one people from the Midwest butcher the most.
