That may be to their advantage. They played the core guys exclusively so they would get better chemistry. That will be our biggest problem....chemistry and rhythm. I really think we will have a great year but I am not expecting a victory in this game. I hope I am wrong.

" He was named a team captain two weeks ago, joining Chad Barson and Scott Caldwell." Wasn't there some debate on whether he was a catain?? He is now.
-
Probably Luke Fickell too....Zach's golden boy.

I firmly believe that if all are healthy, and the Zips are losing by 17 in the 4th quarter...and score a TD with 13 minutes remaining, Ianello will...I dunno...take a knee on the extra point?

The following left the Miami game due to injury:1. Sconiers2. Price3. Dillard4. Marcoux5. StraightDoes anyone have information about the availability of these players for Saturday's game??

With the ball placed on the 25, it is already within FG range. There have been occasions where many more points were scored in OT than during the regular game. The points have never had the same quality as regular game points ...IMO. But that is a personal viewpoint. I would prefer to keep score like they do in soccer. If the game ends 0-0 and they go to penalty kicks, and the score after penalty kicks is 5-3, they do not list the final score as 5-3 but 0-0 with team “A” winning on PKs. I hate that a game can end 13-13 in regulation but the final score may be 53-52 after OT. Again...just my opinion.
-
OT points should be included. I should have also listed the totals with OT points. 1.9 points per game increase and a 14% increase over last year.
-
The basis of the thread is about average points per game and the end result if we continue at our current average points per game. If we don't average more than 16.3 ppg the remainder of the season, we won't have more points this season than last season. I don't know if you have a language barrier or not, but this isn't that difficultIt is statistically dishonest to use averages for 12 games vs 9 games. No language problem here. Check with bobbyake...he is great with numbers. All his comparisons are based on apples to apples (same # of games). Isn’t that difficult?? Apparently it is for some.

No. Just wanted to correct the facts. The debate was based on us scoring less than 2010. That is not the truth. And it is 2.6 points per game increase over last year (excluding OT points)...a 20% increase. But statistics do not tell the whole story and can be manipulated. I am not suggesting that we are better than last year. Bad is bad…but let’s at least take the time to use accurate information. The whole basis of this thread is wrong.

Odd...I was told Clayton Moore's passer rating is much better than what we had in 2010? How can we be scoring fewer points? We even have a better running game in 2011?We are not. Please consider the source. In 2010 we scored 121 points through 9 games and in 2011 we scored 138. The 2010 total included 13 OT points. Obviously GP1 was not a finance or math major. There is noting inaccurate about my facts. Are you saying mine are wrong?? I know you are not because mine are correct. You are just manipulating the facts to support your case. You are comparing averages of 12 games against 9 and we both know the 2 "pay" games are in the beginning and would skew the date in your comparison. Since you are wrong and we are on pace to score more...what does that mean to your analysis??

+1Someone in another thread talked about the clowns on ZNO. I think this song is more appropriate..."send in the Clowns......don't bother, they’re here".

+ 1If it were up to me....this thread accusing fellow Zips students/fans of being "traitors" would cease to exist. I just don't understand a Zip publicly calling another Zip student/fan/athlete derogatory names. How does that help??

MAC Soccer Tournament
Doug Snyder replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
It always seemed to me that the highest seed should play the first game. They get an additional 3 hours of rest and can watch game two without a later game on their mind. Did the Zips get to choose?? -
Zach, you have just described your personna on this board to perfection. Everytime I make a post on ZN.O, I use spell check. The spell check always wants me to change your name to Schlep. How appropriate. Why don't you find a new windmill to flail at. + 1

The Band and Soccer, is it necessary?
Doug Snyder replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
quote of the night from the band: "damnit every game we go to the team loses!"How many home games a year are there?? 8 to 10?? Then this kid has been going to school for langer than 5 years. Maybe we should write off his cooments to "frustration". ...or does the band travel with the team?? -

@ yaznastyI live in Bali most of the time. Although it is a Muslim country, Bali is 90% Hindu. I know many Muslims and consider many friends. Since we do not get typical US TV (I went 5 years in the US without TV), I get most of my information over the internet. I do read and watch a little Aljazeera and Sky News, BBC, CNN as well as others that are available in Bali. I think you are wrong to assume that no one does their homework. Life's experiences will play a huge role on how people view issues/events. People often say that the media is biased. Yea...sure it is. The question is are they lying or manipulating. I don't think so. Look at the recent World Series games. Game 6 was a classic. The St. Louis papers made Freese out to be a hero. He worked the count and drove a pitch he could hit. Clutch player. The Dallas papers wrote about the failures of the pitcher and the right fielder. Chokers both. Now...did the journalists lie?? Nope. Told from a different point of view. Unless journalists are manipulated, I think most try to tell the truth...as they see it. Same with the Middle East.I like you and your posts. I did not intend this to become a huge political/religious debate. I do think the professor was wrong and should be suspended or terminated. He ambushed a respected guest and made politically insensitive comments prior to walking off. Me?? I would have assumed he quit because he abandoned his job without notice and force him to fight his way back. Here is a dilemma I have with the current political climate with regards to employment. You can oppose abortion with every fiber in your body but are not allowed to withhold your efforts if you work for a health care facility that may perform an abortion. But you are allowed to withhold your efforts if you oppose something politically...the firemen that refused to get on a truck that a US flag was attached to....this professor who walks out after insulting a respected guest of his employer. Me?? I think if you are n health care you can't pick and chose what you are willing to do (and I am against abortion) and I think you better get your ass on the F-ing fire truck. People can always get a new job if they disagree with the legal views of their employer. One more thing. When looking at the history of Israel...you need to go back to the very beginning. Prior to air travel, trains, and ships and long range communication...Israel or Palestine was the key spot in the earth. All trade going from east to west or south had to traverse through Israel/Palestine. Why to do think Jews are good at law, banking and trading??? The people sitting on that land have been conducting those professions before the birth of Muhammad or Jesus. The fight over that real estate has be going on since time began. It will not be an easy solution. In may last job, I had 2 co-workers I considered friends. One was an orthodox Jew who lived 8 years in Israel on a Kibbutz and the other was a Palestinian who emmigrated to the US in his late teens. Both are very bright. It was interesting to listen to each on views of certain events that took place. If you only spoke to one...you would for sure line up behind that viewpoint. And most of the time the viewpoints were 180 degrees from each other. I don't believe either was lying or intentionally manipulating the facts. But personal experiences and culture affect one's point of view. The understanding I gained from that experience was this: The Jew made me aware of how difficult life is when your neighbors #1 goal is to eliminate you and that scud rockets could fall on you or your family at any time. You live in fear. Fear makes you do things a little differently. The Palestinian made me understand how living life with no status or voice made life unbearable. The PLO was corrupt and provided few services and took what little money they had...and the Israelis had no use for you. You were nothing and had even less. This is not an easy problem to solve. Anyone who believes that is not looking at all the facts objectively. And my final word is...fire the professor at the school in Portage County

can you imagine if a college professor went to a black college students meeting and yelled "death to all (N word)"?! Or if i went to a muslim students meeting/muslim speaker and yelled "death to islam"?Yeah...what a disgusting double-standard.This loon has been doing crap like this for years though.I don't usually like to get into this kind of debates on this board but you leave me no options.Israel is a political state, not a race, not a religion. So your comparison to someone yelling death to N word/Islam has no ground.Yelling death to Israel compares to yelling death to Saudi Arabia or Iran or Palestine, which, by the way, happens everyday and nobody cares.I am not denying that what you are referring to does not happen...but can you give me some specific instances of professors doing this?? I want to write letters to those universities as well. ThanksDoug, I do not have any instances neither am I interested in finding them for you or debating this topic any further. I was merely stating that opposing a political state is not the same as opposing a race or a religion.Hate is hate. Teachers and professors should be held to a higher standard and should never espouse hate. Period.

3-star WR commits to Akron
Doug Snyder replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
I predict we will convert him into a defensive back. Last year we converted a corner to WR and this year a WR to corner. Seems like the next move would be from corner to WR. Maybe your Ouija board needs repair. Overuse can cause problems. -
You give DiG to much credit. I could do it with Zipmiester and 4 armadillos.
