Point taken. I guess I should pay more attention.Just trying to be a little sarcastic with a poster who has posted the same thing for the last 4 weeks. I probably should have just repeated what we did last week...just provide what was for dinner (I know... is poor grammar)

What I like about this year's team is the flexibility. KD will be able to go big, small, fast and long range. My hope is no one gets discouraged because the minutes will be spread a little thinner this year (except for Zeke). I hope both freshmen get red shirts.

Akron Soccer Attendance - 2011
Doug Snyder replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
thats an interesting point as we all know that attendance lags when the weather is crappy...HOWEVER.... we had a pretty large crowd during the playoff game against Cal last year... But that was deep into the playoffs. Despite what people may think...sports are entertainment and will always draw a significant amount of "casual" fans. Weather will keep many away but "casual" fans will want to see big games. -
You paying more attention in English class??Grammar smack is about as lame as it gets......sorry professor...apparently not everyone has the impressive IQ that you possess....his point it well takenthe team sucks, the coach is abysmal...and some posters are dbags When someone posts the same thing week after week after week I think a little sarcasm is justified. So...respectfully KMA

Akron Soccer Attendance - 2011
Doug Snyder replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
It seems that chasing a National Championship is strong motivation. Your analysis would be improved if you added weather conditions for both years. I am wondering if weatehr played a bigger role this year over the last 2 games. -
That's not the dictionary definition, but while I disagree with you, I can appreciate and respect your viewpoint. The victims to me are the people this person left behind who now must search for answers, while likely being emotionally scarred for the remainder of their lives. We can agree to disagree though. +1

QB Kiel Apparently Decommiting from IU
Doug Snyder replied to johnnyzip84's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Which is something that always boggled my mind...as an athlete I was not positioned with the option (I played NAIA basketball) but given the choice, I would much rather go to a little bit of a smaller school, mid major, get a chance to play sooner and have a chance at success than go to a school like Indiana, who is never going to be competitive in the Big Ten, wait to play and then endure five losing seasons.I get you get more gear, maybe a bigger fan base, and it's a "name" school....but I will never get why borderline players choose that route. And we have lost a bunch of kids to Indiana over the last couple of years in our foot print. That HAS to change.I hate it when a kid just can't work up the nerve to admit he changed his mind because he has decided he doesn't like a teams uniforms. If that is your way at taking a dig at me....I guess it would be a tad late to say grow up?Not sure I see any intentional insult.Thought that came to my mind was that Alabama probably offered the kid more moneynow that they see him having an outstanding senior season. Just a thought. Sarcasm often does not play well in the written form and can be misinterpreted. Lots of pissing matches on here start with less. -
A reasonable position shared by many, including me. LR8's stats are in line with the on-field performance we've seen. As low as those stats are, I believe LR8's QB rating so far is still somewhat above PN7's from last season. So it's not like the Zips have a true QB controversy. Neither has shown they can carry the rest of the team on their shoulders. It's about that point in the season when even the most patient fans are expecting to see a better performance out of LR8 and the whole team. The truth is...if Moore had not chosen to attend UofA and Nicely was the QB with exactly the same stats and we were winning...no one would notice. It really is about winning. When you are not winning things get testy. The season has gone about what I expected except for the EMU game. We are 1-5 vs 2-4. Since there is nothing I can do to make them better, I will just watch and keep an open mind to what is happening on the field. If we completely fail this year....next year will be brutal. We must win 3 games or it will effect everything. Even if we don't, I do not think iCoach will be in danger of losing his job...even if he should be. The financial cost is just to high for our program. So...of the options available at this time, supporting the coach and hoping for improvement is the best....and it is what I will continue to do.
-
Fun? I couldn't think of anything more depressing. This isn't about LR8 vs PN7. Zips fans just want to see good play out of the QB position so we get to watch some wins.I'm tired of losing. Yea...fun was definitely the wrong word. Interesting is more accurate.I agree with you...I think we are ALL tired of losing. Since I can remember I have been the biggest Indian fan on the planet. So I know what it is like to follow a loser. i will say this...it makes that much more sweet when you eventualy win.

You can probably get tickets from some in the tailgate area. Not all are used (unfortunately)

LR8 has shown he can run for a 1st down when the pocket collapses. He's a tough kid. Other than that, he hasn't shown much positive. If he needs to rely on the actual play-call, rather than running around like Fran Tarkenton, he's struggled. He had the chance to lead the team to wins against FIU and EMU, and the Zips offense fizzled in both 4th quarters. LR8 needs to pick up his game. Big time. Butchie could win, Frye could win, Getsy could win...even Jacquemain could win. It is tough watching such terrible QB play after a string of pretty decent ones. You guys got me again. OK OK let's use your facts this time and make it official!!!. We will compare first 6 games with the last 6 games and see how far he improves. (I will even get all the info for Nicely and make it a fun comparison at years end!) I marked these down:101/119 overall116/119 completionGame on!!!

I think if the Zips lose...it will be time to avoid the Football forum. It will be brutal in here.

Juwon played injured against FIU. I guess you didn't read that information. Not surprisng.

I didn't mean to be personal. I am just tired of the same thing every week. Moore can't throw deep. Moore locks on to one receiver. Moore can't see over the line. Moore can't throw over the line. Moore is inaccurate. Moore makes bad decisions. And when the facts don't support the argument...make something up (the receivers get yards after catch). iCoach is an idiot. iCoach used the wrong offense. iCoach calls the wrong plays. iCoach keeps his plays in his pants. iCoach is not respected by his players. iCoach can't recruit. and yada yada yada. What annoys me the most is the selective use of facts to crucify both. Do you remember "iCoach is an idiot for not using the most explosive player on the team (T. Williams - red shirt)" Well...he has not been that explosive. Maybe he should have kept that red shirt (hmm…I think I have seen that too). I think anything iCoach says or does will be considered wrong by the anti-iCoach crowd. I should have been direct in my post instead of using sarcasm. I was hoping to show how annoying sarcasm can be. But although you have been a vocal critic of iCoach, you are a rather small voice and are not the biggest problem. I have always respected your posts and your opinions. I am sorry for not taking the direct approach with you. I do disagree with your approach...I think we should wait until the end of season to make a rational and informed decision. That is always my approach. I believe it does not help to continue to grind iCoach down. But that is my opinion and you can have yours and do as you feel is best. But in the end...who really cares. Do you think Proenza cares that 80-90% of the posters on ZNO hate iCoach?? Look at the poll predictions over the last few weeks...40 votes?? FORTY!! Yes they are 40 interested and vocal fans but I doubt it has that much of an impact on their decision.Unless iCoach totally fails this year he will be back for year 3. It is just not financially prudent to pay the 2M it will cost to cut ties. Our best hope is iCoach succeeds. That is my hope. I will hold out hope until the end of the year. For me...last year was always irrelevant. I had 3 performance levels for this year: 7 wins would show great progress. I would be extremely happy. 5 wins would show we were making steady progress. 3 wins was the minimum. I am still holding to that initial analysis and will wait till all the votes are counted to make any real judgements. You may choose to do what you want. But I will continue to support the team and coach.Go Zips!!!

Great site.. thanksIs there any sites that provide minutes played by individual?? I thought GoZips.com used to provide it...guess not.

Porter to coach U-23's
Doug Snyder replied to TheTank123's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I think Porters ultimate goal is to be coach of USMNT (wrote about this a year ago). I think he can accomplish his goal without leaving the Zips. I still believe that he will stay until 2014 when Kinsmann's contract will be up and the US may be looking for a new coach. I hope it plays out just as coach Porter envisions. Even if we have a new coach...the publicity that comes with the World Cup will be more than anyone could imagine. -
You have the greatest pics that are perfect for the occasion.

I respectfully disagree. There is nothing wrong with going up to a guy 4 seconds before half, winning 42-7 and saying, "You know. Theoretically, we could beat you guys 84-14 if the second half goes the same way the first half did." Or, "Did you guys just find out about this game yesterday?" Or, "You guys are going to get that guy who gave you a scholarship fired." Or, "The way you guys are playing tonight is a disgrace to college football." Or, a very fitting smack for the way UCLA's defense played last night, "Is this your first tackle football game?"I'm not a fan of one player telling another, "you suck", because the UCLA players already know that and there is little creativity. The average fan might be shocked to know the amount of trash talk that goes on every play. It's hard to hurt the blimp sized ego of most of the players with a few words. It is not OK to talk smack when another team is playing well and with pride in a close game. UCLA deserved no respect or sympathy for the horror show they put on the field last night.Get out!!! No way!! Your telling me football players have huge egos?? Get out!!!

i dont care because i am an akron zip fan. the program has gone nowhere and i would bet it holds our mens team back financially speaking. just like football to soccer or our track sports. besides, if you all cared, then you would be sure to show up so my sisters freshman squad doesnt beat the womens games in attendance. or maybe you are the dozen or so non parents to be there.@mes102Come on man...sometimes you have to consider the source!!! My nephew is mentally handicapped and nothing he says ever offends because I know he does not have the capacity to know the difference. Not saying this guy is mentally handicapped but I also would not be worrying about anything he says. If he is your friend...you need to find a better class of friends.

We need to look for someone who knows what they are talking about and talk with them.Excuse me.You really did not want to discuss football did you?? You wanted to discuss the failures of ICoach and Moore.Just reviewing sarcasm #1:..................YPR...........R/PCincy...........3.8..........34/36VMI.............6.4..........49/29 EMU............4.6...........32/29FIU.............3.9...........30/23 note: Moore "ran" the ball 11 times. Started as pass playSo...it does not appear an over commitment to the run. Based on the adjectives used and the tone of your writing, you are once again complaining about the type of offense we run. I totally agree that you have a right to bitch, whine and complain but it is others right be get tired of it and speak up. No?? I am really tired of the lame criticism of Moore and ICoach, the negativity and sarcasm on ZNO lately in regards to football. I agree we need to start winning. I get it...you want to use the "spread" and throw the ball all the time. I don't. I want to run the ball about 50% of the time and expand our options.
-
Your point? Just because someone asked you that question about WBB on a MBB thread, you are going to try and stir the pot on a football thread? Yeah. I care. A lot.sorry about that post...i thought i put a rolling eyes emoticon on this and try to turn my anger towards certain posters into jokes, but it didn't really work and I lost it completely when I saw your post and didn't look at mine to see I forgot the emoticon. Sorry about that...This is a good lesson: Sarcasm does not play well in the written form.

Downtown Wooster has a lot of nice restaurants. It's really surprising, actually.Give me some names in Woster. Also...if you are in the Hartville area...give some names ther too :-) Thanks in advance. We go to the Hartville Kitchen once a week. They have the best fish dinner...would not have considered them for fish. Trying to get more fish in my diet so we go often. And my wife loves the sweet potato dish. Great place for families.

Need to find someone else
Doug Snyder replied to mes102's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
See...I am telling you this is a strange ZNO day. Sarcasm at an all time high and we are potentially losing good people. We REALLY, REALLY need a victory Saturday and for the soccer team to find it's Mojo. The sarcasm and negativity needs to abate and that is the only thing I think that may work.mes102 is one of my favorite posters.
