Congratulations to Emil. He is the best #9 that Akron has had in the past 10 to 15 years. Great scorer, very unselfish passer. -

writeup from the Georgetown men's soccer site https://guhoyas.com/news/2024/9/28/mens-soccer-hoyas-fall-to-zips.aspx Head Coach Brian Wiese "Credit to Akron, they're a good team and they started off strong. But that's the main disappointment for the day because for the next 70 minutes I thought we were very good. Their goalie had not just eight saves, but eight great saves, so at the end of the day, the main complaint is the start of the match and the inability just to push one past them. Now we need to move on quickly to Providence. They're one of the top teams in the conference and we need to be a little more lethal in front of the net if we can." -

I would be remiss if I also did not talk about Beto Ydrach. He is an absolute warrior. Georgetown really concentrated their attack ....using their left winger to attack the zips right back..... Beto was constantly in the right place.....and he battled all game against Georgetown's big, talented front line. -

Mitch Budler was absolutely phenomenal He had 2 one handed left handed saves that were out of this world. the first one was world class The Georgetown coach will definitely be voting for Mitch for Big East GK of the year Mitch also had 2 other pretty solid saves The zips had excellent defensive positioning on a corner kick....as Emil was on back line and saved a goal with a header out Right before Akron goal, Beto had a kick save on the right side that saved a goal. Georgetown easily could have scored 3 to 4 goals......but Akron was excellent defensively This was Mitch Budler's audition to be first team All American and he passed with flying colors it is impossible to describe....how good that Mitch Budler was today -

Solid first half for the zips. Beto Ydrach was fantastic in the first half Hot, humid day...I would like to see some subs in the midfield (Maximus Barboto, Nicolas Beier) to start 2nd half Georgetown is really concentrating their attack on their left side (against RB Josh Hardin) hopefully, coaches can make some adjustments at half time to help on left side -

Wow....I knew absolutely nothing about St. Francis University I had no clue that they are the Red Flash...... St. Francis is a private Catholic university with 1,639 undergraduate students St. Francis is located in Loretto, PA . Loretto has a population of 1,302. Loretto's main claim to fame is that industrialist Charles Schwab was raised in Loretto. Charles Schwab built a 44 room mansion in Loretto. Loretto is 17 miles west of Altoona. 25 miles southwest of Johnstown Ok back to soccer...... The Red Flash have a YTD record of 2-3-1 St. Bonaventure 3-0 win #3 West Virginia 4-0 loss Wright State 3-1 loss Robert Morris 2-1 loss Bucknell 3-0 win Canisius 3-3 tie as of 6:30 pm on Sunday night, the Red Flash were #133 in RPI zips (as of 6:30) were #63 in RPI

With Ashton Kamdem out due to a red card, I hope that James Buebendorf gets a chance to play a lot of minutes against St Francis. I really like the speed and potential of James Buebendorf. It is always hard for freshman to make an impact on an experienced team but I really like what I have seen from James Buebendorf and Jack Roman.

Beto has been a great addition to the Zips. Maximum effort all of the time.

The zips players and the zips coaches should all be extremely proud of the effort and determination tonight. They could have hung their heads numerous times during the match....but they battled their keisters off. Embick did well to substitute Nicholas Beier and Jack Roman at half time. Nicholas Beier played very well and almost won a PK. Jack Roman was absolutely fantastic. The young man really impacted the game. Malik Henry deserves a lot of credit for moving to the back and doing what the team needed to get a win. I said after the Temple game that Emil Jaaskilainen might be the best #9 that the zips have had in many, many years. Emil showed once again tonight that he is a very talented, hard working player. It was super to see the zips get a rebound goal in the first half. Great job by WKWK to step up. This was a truly team win. Sleep well, tonight.......zips WELL DONE !!!

announcers are wrong.....Hardin does not have a yellow card live stats only show the 2 yellows for Kamdem Hardin got a foul that resulted in a PK....Hardin did not get a yellow
-
very soft 2nd yellow on Ashton Kamdem..... ref should have gone to VAR to look at the PK call against Akron Zips will have to do a lot of chasing in 2nd half.... Embick needs to use subs in the last 15 minutes of the 2nd half
