these announcers are so biased.... Ashton Kamdem had a tremendous first half... Malik was incredible.... would be nice for Malik to get a goal in the 2nd half.... Mitch has a right to get the ball in the box. Mitch got there first....Dangerous play by IU. Let's go, Zips!!! -

nice article from student newspaper at IU as I mentioned earlier, Akron and IU both started the seasons very slowly...... but both have come on like gang busters during the IU streak when they went 8-0-1, IU scored 32 goals (more than 3.5 per game) https://www.idsnews.com/article/2024/11/indiana-soccer-ncaa-tournament-akron-iu-bloomington-hoosiers -

speaking of the Hermann Trophy....did I miss an announcement in Mid November...about Emil being one of the 15? Hermann Trophy Selection Timeline Mid-August – Men’s and women’s Preseason Watch list is released (Approximately the top 40 males and top 40 female Division I college soccer players from the previous season) Early October – The “Candidates We Missed” campaign. College SIDs can energize their fans to nominate a player who did not make the Preseason Watch List to make the ballot in November. Mid November – The semifinalists (top 15 men and top 15 women) are announced. The voting of Division I coaches begins. -

https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/article/?categoryId=21&articleId=54105&articleTitle=mens-ncaa-tournament-round-two-preview No. 5 Akron(m) (12-4-4) at No. 4 Indiana(m) (10-4-5) - Sunday, November 24th, 1 PM Eastern, ESPN+ Two of College Soccer’s blue bloods meet as Akron travels to Indiana. The story of this match is what Indiana can do, if anything, to slow down NCAA Division I top scorer Emil Jaaskelainen. And even then, the Zips have several more attacking talents like Malik Henry, Dyson Clapier, and Victor Gaumlin, who can wreak havoc. But Indiana is on a nine-year streak of making it past the second round, suggesting Todd Yeagley and his staff will have the answers. -

It is amazing how similar .....the seasons are for both the zips and the hoosiers Akron started the season 1-3-3 Akron then went 10-0-1....before a loss to Georgetown in the Big East semis Indiana started their season with a record of 2-3-4 They went 8-0-1 ....before a loss to Michigan in the Big Ten semis It looks like the zips....and hoosiers had 3 common opponents Notre Dame, Butler and Ohio State Zips went 1-1-1 Hoosiers went 0-0-3 One other interesting comment on the Hoosiers Hoosiers have a higher RPI than Princeton Princeton had an RPI of 17....and they were given a road game in the first round Indiana had an RPI of 21.....and they rewarded with a first round bye.....with a top 16 seed (14 seed) -

Normally, they post a separate video for the coach of the other team I just watched a video that was 16 minutes and 35 has Jared, Mitch and Victor at the start then has about 4 minutes of black screen Princeton coach and GK come on around 10:45 or 10:50 Princeton coach is very complimentary.... said that Akron is the best team that Princeton has faced this year Princeton has played #4 overall seed...Georgetown....and #6 overall seed Penn looks like youtube has taken down the video.... I will keep looking to see if Youtube posts a separate video -

Zips really played good soccer tonight. Very proud of them for winning an NCAA tournament game. Soccer is such a hard game. If this were a football game, it would have felt like a game that was 31-0. But the game is soccer....The zips and their fans will take a 1-0 win to advance to the 2nd round. The zips really dominated on shots and shots on goal. Zips just missed scoring 2 goals in the first 5 minutes. I thought that this was Ashton Kamdem's best game ever as a zip. He was absolutely fantastic. I do not know that if they measure interceptions. Ashton stepped in and corralled the ball numberous times to start the zips on a good break. I thought that Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal was aggressive tonight and helped keep the zips on the offensive. I was really glad to see Malik fire off a hard shot around 70 or 75 minutes. Malik might have been a little too much unselfish in the first half. Malik's speed and skill generated some great opportunities early in the first half. Zips are going to need Malik to score a goal or two to go deep in the tournament. Congratulations to the coaches and all of the players. Zips Nation is very proud of the Soccer Zips. -

https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/article/?categoryId=21&articleId=54085&articleTitle=top-pro-prospects-in-mens-di-first-round Emil Jaaskelainan, Akron – One of the best international recruits in college soccer, Jaaskelainan took the step up from LIU to Akron and finished with the best season of his career. His stats are incredible: 66 goals in 82 games, with 21 assists. He had 30 goal contributions for the Zips in 19 games, and is all but a lock to be the TDS Player of the Year. There’s certainly a level of pro soccer out there for him, as he turns 24 next year. That could be back in England, in his native Finland or perhaps even a USL spot here. An MLS team out there surely can’t overlook him after the season he’s had, though there’s little doubt that he will look to keep his college career going in Thursday’s matchup against Princeton. Daniel Ittycheria, Princeton – It’s been a banner year for Ivy League men’s soccer, with three teams in the 48-team tournament field. The Ivy League tournament champs travel to Ohio to face Akron. Ittycheria is a dynamic wide attacker who can feature through the middle. The PDA product has a good chance of getting picked in the MLS Draft, though he could end up returning for his final season next fall. -
my apologies I now see that you had mens portal date below the 4 ladies not being very familar with the players, I went to stats Sugar played in 3 games Kirsten played in 6 I did not Koly's name Langstaff played in all 18 games...She is a defender ...so no goals and no assists https://gozips.com/documents/2024/8/15/AKRON_WSOC-24.pdf

Dumb question.... did the womens transfer Portal open 1 week before the men's portal opens? I was thinking that I had seen that the men's portal would open on November 25.

Charles Guthrie has resigned
TennZip replied to TennZip's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Leaders do not make statements that make 80% to 85% of their athleties feel inferior. That is what Guthrie did when he told every non football player that they had to accept the fact that Akron is a "football" school. Georgia is a football school. Georgia swimmers have won many national titles. Georgia tennis players have won many national titles. Georgia tennis players and Georgia Swimmers respect Georgia football players because they are elite star athletes that compete at the highest level. Georgia elite athletes in their top non football sports respect that Georgia is a football school. Akron mens basketball players and Akron men's soccer players compete every year to get into the NCAA tournament. Those athletes do not want to be talked down to and told that "Akron is a football school" when they know that Akron football will win 1 to 3 games every year. Another Great example. - I worked for 6 years in Bloomington when Bobby Knight was coaching Indiana University (IU)men's basketball and Jerry Yeagley was coaching men's soccer at that time. IU was also doing great in swimming and diving at that time. Did IU football bring in more revenue than basketball and soccer? Yes !!!....However, the IU Athletic Director was a man of dignity and he appreciated all student athletes. The IU athletic director would never have told national championship winning athletes that they had to accept the fact that IU was a "football" school. Guthrie's bold statement was offensive and showed poor judgement and a tremendous lack of respect.
