  1. Just looked at RPI's.... our first round opponent (princeton) has a better RPI (17) than the seeded team in the 2nd round IU has an RPI of 21...and gets seeded number 14 NCAA committee....has a mind of its own
  2. Princeton was 17 in RPI and they have to go on the road wonder if they did not put in a bid to host? I am amazed that Princeton blitzed Penn yesterday...and Penn got a 6 seed. I like that the Zips got in and they have a home game Gaucho Dan did not do well with his deep dive. Fordham and Akron got in.... #35 UNC-Greensboro was only snub... #39 UCLA was only team above cut line to get in
  3. more recognition for the incredible Emil very happy that Matt Dreas was recognized...... Matt improved so much from year 1 to year 2
  4. Soccer is such a hard game for the best team to always get the win. Let's look at the current RPI Georgetown is #3 overall Would you believe me ...if I said that Georgetown only WON 55% of their games this year? Georgetown is #3 in RPI and their record is 11 wins ; 4 losses and 5 ties.... Akron with a record of 11-4-4...has a better record than Georgetown Pitt is #4 overall would you believe me if I said that they lost almost 30% of the games played? Pitt finished with a record of 12 wins and 5 losses Denver is #2 and they only won 63% of their games they are 12-3-4 Personally, I think that the zips get in........ I think that the tournament is wide open this year....... If the Zips get in, I hope they get put on the opposite side of the draw from Ohio State. Ohio State.....is just so deep, so talented and so physical. It is going to be tough for any team to win a game this Thursday night and then go to Columbus on Sunday and beat a rested Ohio State team. Personally, I am hoping that Akron plays Michigan on Thursday night...with the winner...then playing Pitt on Sunday.
  5. I do not know who was the commentator....I was at the title game in Cary, NC. Very cold, very wet day. A dry field might have benefited the ball control team. A huge group of AK Rowdies made the trip down to Cary. I still remember the driving force of the rowdies....stting on a sidewalk outside the stadium.....uncontrollably crying. That 2009 team was 23-0-0 going into the semis. They did not allow a goal in any of the 5 tournament games and yet they did not win. Mikey was not healthy for that game. Ampai played but was nowhere near 100%. Virginia just beat the living tar out of Ampai and knocked him out of the game. 15 years later, Diego Restrepo still makes me mad.
  6. To add to the unbelievable nature of Gaucho Dan's deep dive......he has Fordham not making the tournament and he has Fordham as the 6th team out he has them no where near making the tournament according to the final actual RPI.... Santa Barbara is the last team in...26th rated at large team Stt. Louis is 25th rated at large team NC State is the 24th rated at large team UNC Greensbro is the 23rd rated at large team Akron is the 22nd rated at large team Oregon State is 21st rated at large team Michigan is 20th rated at large team western Michigan is 19th rated at large team Fordham is the 18th rated at large team and Gaucho Dan says that Fordham and Akron will not make the tournament (in his deep dive) who would take their place.....according to Gaucho Dan? High Point....the 28th rated at large team....according to official RPI and he has Monmouth as the last team in...Monmouth is the 31st rated at large team to normal people....Monmouth would be the 5th team left out of the tourney
  7. it is a loss....when a team loses in the first or 2nd over time only a draw when it is decided by PK's (in every tournament game ...other than the NCAA final) Akron loss on PK's to scum bags Virginia in 2009 final ...counts as a loss in that incredible season. yes, I am still bitter...I can still see dirtbag Diego Restrepo running over with both middle fingers toward the AK rowdies. and Restrepo was screaming obscenities
  8. Marshall jumped from #13 to #8.....with a "tie" on the road. Despite the PK win , WVU stayed at #16 in RPI Good news that Akron stayed ahead of UNCG. UCLA does have a 2-1 win over Ohio State .......and a regular season tie and a PK loss against Michigan. UCLA currently shows as last team out..... no clue ....whether an Ohio win today or a Michigan win today...would benefit UCLA more Fordham was 32 at the start of the day and Oregon State was 30 at the beginning of the day Michigan was 28 at the start of the day currently...with today's results....Fordham has jumped to 29....Oregon State has dropped to 32 Michigan has dropped from 28 to 31 would a Michigan loss today in big ten final...drop them behind Akron....for an at large spot ???????
  9. Furman is also still playing they are up 1-0 UNCG lost on PK's to Furman in conference semis a Furman win might help UNCG
  10. Unfortunately, Marshall and West Virginia are still playing... they are in overtime West Virginia tied UNC-Greensboro during the year a West Virginia win could greatly benefit UNC-G someone very wise in the state of New York....yesterday said the possibilities are dizzying 😧
  11. Thank you to Charlotte, Dayton and Vermont for taking care of business today.... Zips need to beat teams like IU-Indy and Temple next year......so the team and fans are not sweating it out next year on the weekend before selection Monday.
  12. Hofstra had incredible crowd last night....small facility but the place was packed and loud
  13. totally agree....can not believe that Penn currently has an RPI in the top 8
  14. St. Lous drops to 37 Georgetown moves up to 2 Dayton up to 6 Akron stays at 34
  15. Georgetown wins the Big East they were the better team... this will be a result that will help Akron
  16. If FIU does end up beating Charlotte, there would be 12 league winners with RPI’s above 40. logically, that would say that the top 16 seeds and the 16 teams hosting Thursday night games would be comprised of the 10 league winners with high RPI’s and 22 at large teams with RPI’s below the low 30’s. if the zips are one of the last 4, they will probably be on the road against a team with an RPI between 29 and 32. Western Michigan and Michigan ( if they lose Big Ten title game) could be likely opponents
  17. I was listening also and the announcers were really questioning why the Zips did not sub. If you look at box score, Georgetown subs played 302 minutes against the Zips Zips subs played 107 minutes and it probably would have been under 50 minutes if Emil and Ashton did not get hurt After Ashton got hurt, Daragh played 43 minutes After Emil got hurt, Nathan Ferguson and Conor Filsinger combined to play 23 minutes. Zips were clearly exhausted at the end of the game. If the Zips get in, they will have to play on Thursday and Sunday if they want to get to the sweet 16. I would love to see Maximus Barboto and James Buebendorf get playing time on Thursday night. Nicolas Beier, Daniel Firek, Stefan Dobrijevic and Simon Guardiero are also quality players.
  18. Providence leads 1-0.....
  19. You never know what the NCAA committee is going to do......... As NYCZIP pointed out, AKron, NC State, UCLA, Western Michigan can all be impacted by teams on their schedule....still playing UCLA lost to Michigan on PK's in semis....so UCLA might get a bump tomorrow if Michigan upsets Ohio State Akron could get a bump if Georgetown wins Western Michigan has a win over Vermont...so they might see a bump with a Vermont win UNCG has ties with Charlotte and West Virginia...so they would probably benefit from those 2 teams winning According to NCAA.com.....below are the games schedule for tomorrow Michigan vs. Ohio State 3 pm Big Ten Network Wake Forest vs. Clemson noon ESPNU St. Louis vs. Dayton noon....... Long Island U. vs. Fairleigh Dickinson noon FIU vs. Charlotte 1 pm Georgetown vs. Providence noon - fox sports 2 Rider vs. Iona 1 pm Princeton vs. Penn 1 pm Bryant vs. Vermont 1 pm Marshall vs. West Virginia 1 pm Furman vs. ETSU 2 pm
  20. they dominated game.... but it was a huge fluke goal own goal at 80 minutes.... UNCW center back tried to head it back to GK GK was further away from goal than the CB thought and the headed back ball went over the GK's head for a goal Great result for the zips....
  21. #68 Gardner Webb just defeated High Point (they were at #38 when game was going on) 2-1 Gardner Webb gets the automatic bid for the big South and jumps from #68 to #48 in RPI High Point drops from #38 to #40....and currently is on the wrong side of the cut line Cal Santa Barbara moves to 39 Bucknell beat Colgate 3-0 to get Patriot League bid. Nothing is going easy for the Zips in key games - #4 Hofstra...is tied 0-0 at 60 minutes with UNCW (currently #75)
  22. well, that is not a good way to start the weekend of key games Kansas city is showing as #21 RPI (at 6:30) Denver only drops from 2 to 3 As NYCZIP mentioned, Akron dropped from 34 to 35 UCLA drops from 37 to 39....as one of their impressive results was 0-0 against Denver Gaucho Dan currently shows Cal Santa Barbara (40 ) as last team out UCLA (39) as last team in St. Louis (37) as 2nd to last team in...St. Louis will knock the zips a spot down if St. Louis beats Dayton tomorrow UNC-Greensboro (36) - 3rd to last Akron (35) is 4th to last NC State at 34 Princeton at 33....if they beat Penn tomorrow...more bad news for zips Western Michigan at 32
  23. If the Zips get in, the Committee will probably rank them.....in the 33 to 36 range..... which means that Akron will be on the road as they are not in the top 32 could possibly play on the road at a team ranked between 29 to 32 If Ohio State knocks off Michigan in Big Ten title, Michigan could drop from current ranking of 27.... Zips might get sent to play Michigan.......with the winner of that game....having to play on Sunday at #3 RPI Pittsburgh The NCAA always likes to match up rivals that no longer play each other. Zips could be sent to play at Western Michigan.....with the winner of that game....then having to play Sunday at #1 RPI Ohio State At this point, we all just want the Zips to get in. If they get in, it is going to be a brutally tough draw.
  24. good comments...I am also rooting for #28 Charlotte to knock off #62 FIU tomorrow a Georgetown win tomorrow also would not hurt. I will be watching on FS2. NCAA.com scoreboard says that the Denver game starts at 5 eastern today...and that Hofstra starts at 7 eastern.
  25. Big West final.... at midnight last night, the rankings were #36 UC Santa barbara vs #69 UC Davis on Friday UC Davis won 2-0.... UC Davis gets the league automatic bid...and moves up to #52 UC Santa Barbara drops down to #40...... Akron at #34....will get an at large bid......much more easily than UC Santa Barbara at #40 these are the 2 finals....to really watch on Saturday Summit League Saturday final #2 Denver vs. #38 Kansas City Coastal Athletic Saturday final #4 Hofstra vs. #76 UNCW
