  1. Zip tennis gets a double dose of love from the Beacon! 1st Story 2nd Story
  2. This guy might be our best chance ever to land a transfer from Gonzaga!
  3. Damn, that's pure genious I'm not sure the doves in Cleveland have the stomach for it however.
  4. There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that the MAC has declared war on the Horizon.
  5. What, you couldn't research this at 1:18 am MDZip???? You're slacking! Great job, girls! Good luck in the NCAA's!! Go Zips!!!
  6. Can't argue too much with those ratings. I've given more thought to the other MAC players that have been drafted. It's hard to imagine the Temple defense being nearly as stout with DT Wilkerson (not at all sorry to see him gone) and DB Jarrett being taken in the 1st and 2nd rounds respectively. Couple that with a new Owl head coach and I think the home opener has a chance of providing an interesting opportunity for the 2011 Zips.
  7. was waiting for that

  9. I'm a little concerned about team chemistry with this guy
  10. Well, I haven't predicted anything yet. But at this point, unless something changes my mind, we're a 1-11 football team that's lost 9 starters, including our top 2 running backs, our top 3 receivers, and a few long-time starters on the offensive line. And that's not even addressing the defense, which certainly can't be encouraging after the spring game. The arrival of Chisolm and Moore has raised my hopes a bit, but I think I need to see a lot more before I can predict any significant improvement. The good news is, being better than last year isn't going to take much. No doubt there are plenty of concerns and unknowns at this point, particularly on defense. But right now I believe, one way or another, the offense will be considerably more productive in 2011. The more I read about the incoming class, I also think we'll see contrbutions from JT Price, Nick Rossi, Tyler Williams, Tyrell Goodman etc Williams was reportedly the quickest player on the field in the North-South all-star game (see link in other thread). Goodman was the New York HS Class A player of the year as a QB, but I think he'll find another way to get on the field sooner. Like gozips19 and others have said, I hope Rossi gets a shot at LB first. Bottom line, I think this class is a lot better than it was rated by Rivals or Scout. Time will tell.
  11. .....hundred and 16, that is (Orlando Sentinel). According to this article, we're the lowest ranked team in the MAC. Now I'm not necessarily expecting a huge turn-around this year, but I will be amazed if the Zips finish dead last in the league this year. It ain't happening, no matter what Zach or Skip think
  12. Zip recruit leads South to a win scoring 2 TDs. Let's hope he scores a few more the next time he plays on this field!
  13. Nice find. Now that UMass will be joining for football, we'll have to wait and see whether the MAC might need to find a Temple replacement to eventually become a 14 team league. It would seem as though a lot hinges on what happens to Villanova's Big East football prospects (see comments to the article).
  14. Zipmeister is getting his flow chart template out right about now.

  16. well done! And here I figured iCoach was just being smart in limiting #34's time on the field to prevent a senseless injury. Now I realize he wasn't out there very long due to all the time spent in make-up. Some additional thoughts have come to mind regarding the spring game: 1. I've been trying to recall the last Zip RB in memory who hit the hole as fast as Chisholm. This one goes back a ways. The guy was Greg Lomax. Sure we've had better all-around backs since then, but Lomax hit the hole at full speed. Jawon does very much the same, but he looks like a more complete back IMHO (check out his HS youtube highlights...he has very good hands) who will likely play bigger than Greg by the time he's done. 2. It's true that we won't know for sure how much the offense has improved until a real game. BUT, I did like the execution I saw. They didn't shoot themselves in the foot, and that's definitely a step forward. 3. Dr Z seemed sort of curious as to the lack of conversation around Suel. I think part of it was because the earlier clips from camp of him showed some of his potential, and had a number of us thinking he looked to be pretty good. His play in the spring game did nothing to detract from that. 4. Keener and others hit on this and I completely agree. The defensive backfield is clearly the #1 area of concern for this team. With Richardson likely out for the year and Holmes nursing some sort of injury, we're going to need LT Smith, Seth Cunningham etc. to mature quickly for the rest of the defense to have a chance.
  17. GoZips.com Story
  18. Wow, talk about impressive. Nice job, Zips!! Here are the final team scores.
  19. Elton Alexander's take on spring games for both Zips and F.l.a.s.h.e.s. Look who's playing RB for K.E.N.T.
  20. If I can get those odds, I'll put $20 down and come on up. I'll watch the Zips spring game for $20K. Although it's always great to have the fine MDZip visit, these aren't the only odds that could have lost me a fortune. Thankfully, nobody took the offense -7 and the over! I'm officially on the Chisolm bandwagon. Sure he piled up the yards against a D that 1) needs to make us forget large portions of last year, 2) had numerous starters injured, and 3) played (wise decision) mostly without B Wags. But he showed me what he could do when he gets a seem. Some of us were impressed by the speed of him on film back when iCoach made him an 11th hour addition to the 2010 class. His burst is for real, and he runs a LOT harder than I imagined. If the O-Line can play reasonably well, #44 will be a joy to watch in 2011.

  23. My tailgating time could be limited, but I'm hoping to get there by noon. The Suburbanite has a good summary (Joe Dunn the writer, perhaps?)
  24. I'll definitely be there, whereever they end up playing the game. Besides the obvious curiosity surrounding The Lone Ranger, I'm also interested to see the redshirts from last year's class, especially Chisolm, Staten and Suel. I also want to see what Fleming can do at TE.
