Me and a couple other guys went to the Spring tournament in Pontiac, and it was in an indoor facility. Oakland was one of the teams in the tournament, but I don't know if that is their home facility. After just now checking their athletic website though, the game will be held at the same indoor facility. It's a pretty nice place with I think three soccer fields indoors. OK, good to hear. Guess it will be nice to be indoors, hope it doesnt cause problems for the Zips. ASN Preview of the matchup

I'll tell you the real reason. As someone who has been on the north side down low for 4 straight years I can tell you that the police on hand as well as the staff on the floor discourages anything close to being "rowdy" or "havoc like". I've organized balloons to be passed out that we blew up our selves, harassed opposing players, and even looked up funny personal information (gf names, cell phones of players, etc) and have been not only yelled at for this but told that i would be removed from the game if it happened again or continued(in fact i actually was removed from a game last year for calling Chris Singletary a "thug" on an inbounds play). I don't want to knock the Rowdies because they have done everything in their power to create a good atmosphere but the University threatens the Rowdies' higher ups as well as the average Rowdie when things actually do start to get good. One thing that is interesting is that we've been warned multiple times for using the players names, yes! Using their names. So basically this is where the real problem is, and it definitely turns people away as it is not nearly as fun as the atmosphere at the soccer games. I figure the reason it's not enforced as well at soccer games is it's much harder to control that HUGE crowd than the basketball games where 80 students are in a neat row and surrounded by staff waiting to tone things down. My suggestion is people at the U need to lighten up a bit and/or the leaders in the Rowdies just need to say "hey this is what we are about, if you dont like it tough". Do you think the Cameron Crazies get yelled at for these sort of things? I think not. This is what college basketball is all about.

last time i checked 99 yards is not more than 100.

I have to think you're right there. It seems that a vast majority of people i've talked to have already had enough of RI and if much more of this continues I have to think that a few big donors/people up high are going to start calling for it as well. btw I have a new poll on my site regarding Ianello, feel free to check it out. On the right side of the page.

Are you going with a group up to the game? I may be looking to put a few people together to make the trip.

That's classic. I think the last two are dance team members.

I'm guessing he was talking about men's basketball with practice starting soon. yes of course.

Funny, our defensive backs do these things in this order: 1) get burned 2) continue to be undersized 3) commit pass interference 4) fall down and let the guy run easily into the endzone

I'm not here to defend the coaches. Their pro style offense will never work here and the sooner they are gone the better...along with the guy who hired them, but the players need to show some pride in themselves. Move the freaking ball and stop the other guys every now and then. Why do you say that? Teams that win with pro style offenses have a lot of future pros on their team....Alabama is loaded and runs a pro style offense. They are loaded with future NFL stars. In the MAC, you get MAC talent. I don't think it takes much to make a bad team average or an average team good in college football. Success in the MAC can come from scoring a bunch of points and not shooting yourself in the foot on defense. If you can hang around long enough in a mac game, the other team will hand you the game. How do you get those points?...... CMU was very successful with the spread offense and a great QB the past four years. Cincy did the same thing in the Big East. Score a bunch of points and make teams in bad conferences try to match your point output. It's easier to do in the MAC and Big East than the major BCS conferences. CMU was unsuccessful in bowl games but beat the crap out of the MAC because the moved the ball in a spread offense. Cincy was exposed for being a fraud in the Sugar Bowl last year, but they killed a terrible Big East with the spread. I've said this before, Texas almost beat Alabama last year in the BCS Championship with an off the bench freshman QB. I see average teams win too much with the spread to think that it doesn't work. There are real reasons for the success as well....For example, it makes pass blocking schemes easier for linemen because it moves potential rushers away from the line. Same with the running game. If one OLineman makes a mistake, the whole line breaks down. Make an average line good by moving defenders away and eliminate confusion. The spread is actually a very simple offense that looks complicated. If there was a book about explaining the spread, it would be called, "Offense for Dummies". The Zips don't have time to assemble a team that would be able to run a pro offense and finish any higher than second place in the MAC East. It will take years and by then the coach will have turned over twice already. It just isn't a reality. The reality is, the spread offense turns programs around fast because it doesn't take as many pieces and parts to be successful. A pro style offense takes a lot of good players. The Zips need to win now, not 8 years from now. If we look around at teams that run pro style offenses in the midwest, how successful are they? Wisconsin?....Nice team, but the saying, "Always a bridesmaid and never a bride" comes to mind. Chronic second and third place Big Ten team. Pitt?....Third place Big East. Iowa?....Lost to Arizona who if my memory is correct, is an average team that has become good by running a spread offense. Notre Dame under Weiss?...Hello Kansas City. Stanford is having success with a pro style offense out west, but I'm not sure if they will fall into the Wisconsin and Pitt trap or not. Time will tell with them and they already play in a league with pro style offenses being played around them such as at USC. They crushed Oregon today, but I suspect Oregon will lose more by the end of the year. The spread offense isn't for everyone, but if you want to go from being poor to at least average (we would probably take that right now) or average to good, the spread has been shown to work in the MAC. We are a MAC team and we need to do what works in the MAC. I'm sold...you're hired. (dead serious)

Heard from a few people that went that it was a great game. They keep this up and they might pass the football team for 3rd most buzz worthy sport at the U right now. ASN coverage (with fan video of match point) GoZips.com Can't State Athletics

You not going Roo? I haven't missed a home game in 6 years...not about to miss now, though this team is about as bad as i've ever seen. Nice website, I started to look at akronnewsnow.com but got turned off by their OSU obsession. Thank you...and that's why we made the website.
