you're right...in the print issue they mention that FIU would be added this season.

Not a very well written article, it's kind of missing some important information. But nevertheless i hope this thing isn't a huge failure, i know i'll be going.

I played the demo and i'm not particularly impressed with this years version. It seems even more crappy and cartoony than usual. It's amazing how bad video game football has become since the 2K series has gone.

You're right, i forgot about that. I actually have been to a few college volleyball games at some big schools (PSU, FSU) and they draw some big crowds. -

Ladies Football 101 - Thursday 6/10/10

But Akron MEN do. Go watch a bottom barrel MAC football team or go to a sold out Pouch and watch one of the country's premiere soccer squads. Your choice. I know where I will be. As much as i love the Zips and rooting for the Soccer team, i choose a 0-12 football team over soccer....it's a no brainer. -
Can't State finally got youtube to pull the sideline reporter video on grounds of copyright infringement. It was fun while it lasted, i know a few people around the world know Can't State for more than just the shootings now.

Oh all people Zach, you're missing a FOOTBALL game to watch Soccer? That's just wrong. At least the soccer team be playing for a lost cause by half time. Akron football just makes me depressed when it seems like I put more energy and emotion into being a fan that they put into preparing and playing the game. I would go to a Zips football game over Soccer even if they were 0-12 the year prior and the Soccer team was defending national champions. There is NOTHING like tailgating and eating good food/getting hammered and watching college football. Soccer is neat and all, but football is where it's at.

Akron Tailgate Lot Priority Policy
RootforRoo44 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
Lot 34 is/was $5 last year and was a darn good time. Plenty of other tailgaters and a good party every game. Join us and don't pay for priority. Hell, get there early enough and it is free. We were able to take advantage of that twice last year. Yeah, i tailgated there every game and never paid anything. I had a great time there and we were never even bothered by Police or anything. Surprising what with our 30 foot beer bong, kegerator, and flip cup games. That bong was crazy. Were you the guys doing the beer relays as well? Yeah we were one of the groups doing that, i skinned my arm up real bad before the Can't game relaying. Filling the cups with Yuengling was a bad idea, it got rowdy haha. -

2011 MLS Draft Projection
RootforRoo44 replied to Z.I.P.'s topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I think all 3 Zips are projected too low. Not to mention, i didn't think Ownby was even Virginia's best player. We will see i guess. -
Or any of his time.... The guy is an absolute do nothing. Funny how Obama actually knew a few players on the Bulls when he knew NOONE on his supposed favorite team (the ChiSox). And I love how the media writes a fluff piece on him once a week or so. A few weeks ago was the "newsfl@sh" about how he loves pastry, the one week was his love of college hoops, and this week we hear how he's campaigning to steal away our basketball star. What a great job he's doing, he's like the Can't State of Presidents.

It isn't an either/or question when it comes to road money games or parking increases. I understand the need to make money and I encourage them making as much money as possible. How they executed this plan is wrong. Let's say CK contributes $2,000 per year to the Z-Fund and they want $10,000 for people to park there. He is a loyal fan and owns a web page that could cause a stir (and it did...this thread is already on page 2 with page 1 including a stripper). Why not go to him and offer the same spot for $3,000? Still less than the 10K, but much more than he currently pays. The ball is in his court to accept it or walk away. If he accepts it, the Z-Fund increased a donors giving 50% and CK has made a choice he can live with. If he walks away, it was his decision to make after a fair offer and the Z-Fund can sell the spot at a higher price and save face. The appearance is much better as it is a win/win for everyone. WHOA WHOA...too much common sense here. God forbid the Athletics department does at least one smart thing for every stupid thing they do. This whole thing is ridiculous, and whoever stated earlier about the amount of parking spaces in that lot hit it right on the head. Are you telling me that there are that many big time donors paying that much for tickets and parking passes? If so, where are they are the games and why is there even a money issue? Split this lot in half (more like 1/4 to these high paying people) and give the true fans their tailgate area. Problem solved. -
Touché, but not exactly the same. The world cup in it's infancy would not compare either.

A once every 4 years event should draw decent ratings...but to say it draws better than any Major League Baseball games is unfair, to prove any point it would have to draw better than ALL MLB games during that time combined. And those games are middle of the season nothing games. I'm sorry but you are kidding yourself if you think soccer is even relevant, let alone bigger than baseball in any way.

Akron Tailgate Lot Priority Policy
RootforRoo44 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
Lot 34 is where the real party is at, that's for sure. -
Creating revenue is always a good idea for a non-BCS type school. I think Akron could do something like this, but not for parking spaces. Maybe for vouchers to go up to the upper levels of the stadium and partake of some Roo Brew? Or maybe just get off their high horses and sell beer to Joe Akron everywhere in the stadium?

Let's not get crazy here. Baseball is far more interesting to watch (even when you are losing by 15 runs in the middle of the game like today) than soccer. I know it's a matter of personal preference but obviously baseball is due to the fact that baseball is FAR more popular at every level from High School on up. Also, I spoke with a parent of a recruit for a second today and he had just asked me and some others if we thought that Bangston would still be there next year. I told him i would think so (but i wish he wouldn't be) but i got the feeling he wasn't asking that for assurance but more so hoping that he would be gone. I can think of about 100 million folks who watched the UEFA Champion League final today who might disagree with this. and 4 of them speak English. Exactly...just because a bunch of third world countries like soccer doesn't make it great. Soccer may be the most popular sport in the world but it has nothing to do with being exciting to watch. It's very similar to the reason that 99% of inner city kids play basketball...they can't afford to play anything else! All you need to play soccer is a ball and open space. Pretty easy to set up. Though that's not the case with every country (Britain), countries that have a higher average household income play less boring sports it sure seems.

It's because the majority of journalists are leftists and they don't want to focus on the real issues facing the country. Majority?....more like vast majority (99.99%)
