  1. I saw a funny thing today, wish i would have taken a picture. I went and played some basketball at memorial hall today and while i was walking up to it i noticed that they were laying down new mulch around the building. This was inside the ring of trees around the building already tagged to be removed. Talk about a waste of money (although minuscule compared to the overall budget). I guess it will be nice around it when it's taken down.
  2. I had offers from multiple D1 schools but i never even spoke to anyone at Akron. No surprise. One of the players from Wadsworth that went to Can't and never even got a look from Akron is Andy Sonnanstine, he's spent multiple years in the Rays starting rotation, even pitching in the World Series. The other is Drew Saylor who tore it up for Can't State after starting his career at Cincinnati, he is not playing for the Crushers single A team in Avon. It's amazing how much talent Akron passes up locally.
  3. Let's not get crazy here. Baseball is far more interesting to watch (even when you are losing by 15 runs in the middle of the game like today) than soccer. I know it's a matter of personal preference but obviously baseball is due to the fact that baseball is FAR more popular at every level from High School on up. Also, I spoke with a parent of a recruit for a second today and he had just asked me and some others if we thought that Bangston would still be there next year. I told him i would think so (but i wish he wouldn't be) but i got the feeling he wasn't asking that for assurance but more so hoping that he would be gone.
  4. Couldn't have been said better. It's amazing that this lady claims that Athletics and Academics have "no connection" whatsoever. Very close minded to think that Athletics don't play a role in Academics and the overall betterment of the University. I have 3 former/current Marching 110 members in my house right now and they aren't surprised by this. It seems the President of the University isn't too keen on Athletics to begin with and the overall attitude of facility there is that sports are a distraction at college. The infiltration of these progressive nuts is going to cause a lot of damage at OU. That brings up another question: If football is dropped entirely (which most likely wont be the case) would that kill the Marching Band and in turn kill their very good music program as well? Even if football drops down to 1AA (or whatever it's called) I would think that would damage the Marching 110's credibility as well. Things like that seem to go right over the head of those kind of people.
  5. Can't say i like any of them besides the one that won. The UA Gold has to be the worst one as well. Seems like everyone has a different favorite in this thing.
  6. What are you talking about? Anyways, Rand Paul just cancelled on David Gregory and Meet the Press this weekend. He cited "exhaustion." And check this out. He blames Obama for being un-American for criticizing BP over the oil spill. He can't say anything without putting his foot in his mouth. Funny how Obama continues to bash BP and point fingers at people in the federal government blaming them for this oil leak even while saying "I will not tolerate more finger-pointing or irresponsibility..." hmmm this all coming from the guy who was the top recipient of BP-related donations during the 2008 election cycle when he collected $71,000. I guess he means no finger pointing if it's at him. We need more people like Rand Paul calling out that scumbag in the White House.
  7. No doubt....Well maybe not for "Negative Nancy" Pelosi, she has immoral San Francisco all but locked up. Ya know it's a very scary place with all those loons running around.
  8. A big problem is the space. That should be fixed by the new soccer stadium moving north a little bit. They also need to enclose the stadium and make it a little more professional. Playing surface wise, i've played on Lee Jackson a half dozen times or so (recently) and i would give the infield a C- in terms of quality. It wasn't built properly and has a terrible lay to it. It would need to be rebuilt entirely. Another thing i've never liked about it is it doesn't have anything that sets it apart from other ball fields. The dimensions are boring, the layout of foul territory is boring, everything about the park is just plain boring.
  9. Many problems: 1) Terrible Facilities, my highschool and the NAIA school i played for before transferring here had much better facilities. 2) Location, kids dont want to play in the cold midwest and especially not for non established programs. 3) TERRIBLE COACHING/Recruiting We really aren't getting great talent. Compared to schools like Can't or OU (MAC wise) we have no credibility and therefore do not get the top local athletes. Add to that the fact that Bangston has to be the worst local talent evaluator possible and you have a deadly combination. The first and easiest step to fixing these problems is obviously to fire the coach and bring in someone else with a fresh perspective on things. Bangston just isn't cutting it. Next renovate the ballpark and turn it into a REAL ballpark and then at least we could compete in a lower tier baseball conference like the MAC.
  10. WRONG. If "Tea Baggers" (as you put it) were only the far right fringe then why are they impacting Democratic primaries? The fact is, moderate/conservative Democrats are sick of the filthy scumbag Left in this country and are just as much a part of the Tea Party movement as anyone. Liberals are naturally blind to anything but their beliefs so once someone stands up against them and proves them wrong they automatically label them "terrorists" or the "lunatic fringe". Educated people know better. btw, people like Ron Paul and Rand Paul are part of the solution to this mess our government is in. Neither of them (or anyone like them) will be president in the near future but at least they are a step in the right direction.
  11. 1) The whole "two dads" thing is hilarious on that show. 2) I hope people around the world dont actually think we have hotels downtown. They would be in for a surprise.
  12. Believe it or not, there are a few people on here who ARE close friends of some of the players. I myself go back 15 years with one of the recent basketball players and have become good friends with a few of the current ones because of that. Also, we all know there are others on here that have friends on the athletic teams due to a lot of people on here being former UA athletes. So to be honest, I believe a lot of what i hear on here because a lot of people have the connections to know.
  13. +1 Bonus points for no stats mentioned, right? Joe Dunn asked KD what he thought of Egner's mohawk haircut. He was 100% against it. of course, being an individual and playing with heart are not things that KD preaches.
  14. The doors really aren't locked, it's said that for a week but they dont actually lock the doors. Btw, a few hours ago I was playing a few pickup games in Memorial and Quincy Diggs came in and shot around for a while. Looks like he has a nice shot and a decent wingspan for his size. He was a little shy but very friendly as well. I know a few other ZN.o members were there playing and say him there too. Yep, I saw him there too. He said it's cold up here(wait til winter). A pick-up player told him he should go to Akron when he was shooting around at a different hoop(Diggs was wearing a Wichita State shirt), and Diggs says he does and he transferred. He's got a big wingspan like RootforRoo44 said, and he looks like he's a better shooter than Hitchens, maybe even better than Brett McKNight or even Steve McNees. +1 I haven't seen him shoot...but I mean any D-1 player is gonna knock down his shots with no one on him haha. We'll see how he fares against, you know, defenders. Hopefully he can step in and contribute at that 3 spot. Again, i know my way around high level basketball and i can tell you that he has a smooth stroke from outside. It's kind of like if you saw someone that had a pretty swing like Ken Griffey Jr, you'd know he's got something going for him. Trust me, this Diggs guy is a pure shooter.

I know a lot of people are going to tear into you for saying that last line but from watching him shoot around for over a half hour i can tell you he has a pretty sweet shot. He looks like a BALLER.

  17. The JAR is tiny steps forward from Memorial Hall. We are not impressed. You never are....i'm sure you wish we had a palace like the MAC Center so we could have our view obstructed a little more. That's so big time. You don't know what you are talking about. I am impressed with InfoCision and more. That I expect UA to act like the big boys they should be seems to piss you off. That remains your problem. No, UA's biggest problem is the same old people who continue to imagine that this school is some crappy commuter school when it's far better than that. You wonder why 9 out of 10 people on ZN.o take offense to the ridiculous things you say? It's because you push that stigma that doesn't exist and are the main reason we have a problem shaking it. Again, sorry Akron doesn't have a "beautiful jewel" in the middle of its campus like the MAC Center where 25% of fans attending miss half the game due to obstructed views. Do you drop acid on a daily or weekly basis? Your come-back is absurd and has nothing to do with anything I have ever said. I'm not impressed with Rhodes Gym. That is all I said. Your compulsion to fill in blanks that are not there is a sign of your crazieness. Nice try...you can twist things around all you want. All people have to do is read the BS you post on here and know who is the one "dropping acid". Oh stop it. You'll give yourself a nose bleed. There are many who are not impressed with Rhodes Gym and you know it. Try to be honest when you argue for a change. oh im honest, i'm just not an Akron hating pessimist like you.
  18. Actually this IS a pretty big deal. Read the facts before complaining for once. Actually, this is not a pretty big deal. I have read the facts. You need to as well before peeing all over yourself for once. You make yourself sound like an idiot when you bash something and literally know nothing about it. Seriously go read the article and come back.

  22. I think you are forgetting the talent level that Ronnie Steward was/is on. If i remember correctly, Ronnie was the starting point guard OVER Humpty at the beginning of the 2008-2009 season.
  23. no way you posted this on a 5 and half year old thread haha The scary thing about this is, it happened with two separate sororities in two separate incidents now.
  24. I'm concerned. No one else finds it odd that 4 players transferred out, 2 of them being highly touted players when they signed? I'm not too optimistic about next season anymore, if used right either Humpty or Steward could have been bigtime impact players.
