Thanks for the insight. But it's more a cultural thing. People in this state are head-over-heels crazy over the Scarlet and Gray. 95% of State Ohio fans never attended the institution, yet they only demand to watch that. Even living within 2 miles of another D-I institution, they still prefer to watch State Ohio University. They're even willing to flush an entire saturday afternoon, and over $150 for ONE game, where the outcome is already decided before the teams even step on the field. We can't compete with that. I love NE Ohio, but the people here stink. The stadium will never be completely filled again. However, I am fully confident that regular 20k crowds are possible if we can sustainably win over a series of a couple of years. It begins with the Alumni (who for the most part are pathetic losers, clinging to something that isn't theirs). It begins with the current student body. That devastating loss has an impact. Students were mockingly yelling "ZI" "PS" because the "PS" sounds like penis when you yell it. (I'm not making that up, there was a contingent of students doing that and saying EXACTLY THAT afterwards). All the students who would have given a damn were long gone.

Now I don't feel so bad. I'm worried about these guys getting better, if this is how bad we play. But without Chisholm or Hundley, we become MORE one-dimensional than we were before. March is the General of our defense. I don't think if we have all of these guys the result would change, however I do believe it would not be as much of a beat down as it was.

I'm surprised no one has brought this up yet: Jawon Chisholm didn't appear at all yesterday. Not one play. WTF? I know he's been playing horribly...but he used to make a huge play every once and a awhile. What happened?

Reality check: This team finished 1-11 just two seasons ago to finish a 3-33 run over three years. I always dreamed we could be like UCF....a perennial loser who suddenly (almost over night) turns into a winner. But that's a dream for a reason...because it's not going to happen. We've got to look for improvement every season in the W department, and so far we've seen than. Also another Reality Check: Did any of us really think we were going to win this game? I know I was excited about our chances and predicted an akron win (I always predict an akron win), but in all reality I didn't think we were going to win. I follow coach's advice: Take the schedule and circle all the games you expect that you should win. Though I wish the Zips would prove me wrong by beating a Michigan, a Penn State, an Undefeated Marshall (etc)...I look at my list now and see Marshall wasn't circled, neither was Penn State or Pitt. I thought the Zips stood a chance of proving me wrong in all three of those games, but I didn't expect a Win. This team still has a 7-5 season in it, we need to learn from this experience. How many of us though the Zips would win 4 more games after getting annihilated by a not-really-that-good Bobkitten team? I hate losing as much as anyone. I am absolutely sick about it. But I slept on it, and had to reality check myself. Rally the troops, and go beat Pitt.

I know our crowd was quiet, but there wasn't absolutely nothing to cheer for. I'm one of the loudest, yelling all the time fans and I was speechless. First drive...punt. They drive and score. Second drive, good play followed by a fumble. Marshall drives and scores. We get the ball, three-and-out, marshall gets the ball and scores. We get the ball and throw an interception. Marshall takes the turnover and scores yet again. We later get two redzone trips that end in zero points. This was a case study of "How to take the crowd out of the game". I'm sorry, but I can't fault any fans for being quiet at this game. Of course the marshall fans are going to be louder than us, WTF do we have to cheer for?

I absolutely hate losing. I'm in a terrible mood. It is a beautiful day, and this is what I have to spend it watching. I'm sorry, I'm the biggest supporter of Bowden, but this loss is absolutely unacceptable. The loss to marshall isn't unacceptable...a blow-out loss is. -You had two weeks to prepare for this game. -You're at home in front of what will likely be the best crowd all season -You're at home on a beautiful day. -When you're down 17-0...3 points doesn't do anything for you. -When you get in the redzone, coming away with anything less than 3 points should be unacceptable. -Getting into the redzone twice and coming away with 0 points is ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. -This isn't Tennessee, Michigan or Ohio State. It's freakin Marshall. As for the team: -Wr's need to catch the ball. -RB's...hold on to the darn ball. -OL... you really need to get it together. It is absolutely unacceptable to have a 2 man rush sack your QB. I really thought we were past these blow-outs.

Graphs such as these are also not very good. They don't tell you population sizes. And, it's from facebook users. And it's based on facebook page likes. So take these results with some giant mine size grains of halite. There's more people in that "Browns" area then there is in some whole states in the "Denver" or "Minnesota" blocks. I'm pretty sure we can all easily see where coach stands on this issue. Second chances are not a bad thing to give people: and if I'm not mistaken we've beaten the discussion about the transfer student who is currently on our roster, who was charged with domestic violence. I think there is an important thing that needs to be said on this topic: these things are unacceptable, and we need to focus on rehabilitating those involved. People deserve second chances, but only after they show evidence that they have changed and have gone through a process of rehabilitation.
