  1. Perhaps. I don't believe Bowden is though. I believe Akron is Bowden's last stand.
  2. I agree with this. From the moment I heard coach speak, I knew we had us a winner. Lose Big, Lose Small, Win Small, Win Big. Recruiting players who can win whatever it takes, wherever it takes...and bringing in transfers who can fill in while they develop talent. That is the template for building a winner and Bowden and company are bringing us a winner. Enjoy the ride Zips fans, it's going to be a fun year.
  3. There's a difference. Going from a win over FCS Howard to FBS BIG Penn State (away). My biggest concern is using this game to work out the kinks. We cannot afford to overlook the Eagles. I know they're horrible this year, but I would like to see the Zips work on controlling the game through clock management. Force the Eagles offense to stay on the Bench, and wear down the Eagles defense.
  4. How is it like the Browns thinking to want better QB play? You cannot tell me with all seriousness that Kyle Pohl's play is the best that we can have? Tra'von Chapman looks better than Pohl in the limited play I've seen, but he cannot play this season. There ABSOLUTELY should be a QB competition in the off season. Pohl assumed as the starter, and give all the QBs on the roster a shot to surpass him. For a long time I though Hundley looked BETTER than Chisholm, yet Chisholm remained in the No. 1 position. Hundley was given the chance at No. 1 yesterday and thrived. If you don't give guys the chance to compete, you don't improve. GO ZIPS! The problem is, Pohl shouldn't have thrown the ball to Goodman. As QB you should recognize the guys isn't open, and isn't going to get open. RedZone turnovers in a close game are absolutely unacceptable. I have no problem with putting other guys into the mix to send a message to the players that NO ONE is safe. You either RISE and dish-out or sit on the bench. (I'm looking at you Jawon Chisholm). I'm with you on that one. If anything, a legitimate competition for the No. 1 will make the team better. Chandler Kincade, Tommy Woodson, Tra'von Chapman....these guys have a higher potential ceiling than Pohl does. But what needs to be said is: GO POHL GO! He's our QB for now, and everyone on our team needs to be supported because we're on track to having our best season in almost a decade. Enjoy the season ZipsNation, stop the infighting, enjoy the ride and start a lot of friendly because this is going to be a fun season!
  5. I'm glad your here lance99! Perhaps a-zip is in shock...you know, because we've never been exposed to non-alumni, die-hard akron fans. They Exist!? In all seriousness...everyone calm down. The Zips just won it's biggest non-conference game in the history of the program. Let's not resort to cannibalizing each other. Save that for the Eagles, Redhawks and Bobkittens.
  6. Love it!!
  7. Attendance against EMU will be 17k.
  8. +1. However, the coaches should get a LOT of credit for this one. The coaching staff was able to turn lemons of the defeat last week, into lemonade this week against Pitt. GO ZIPS!
  9. ZIPS WIN!!!!!!!
  10. It was about time for a Jawon Chisholm fumble.
  11. C'mon defense. Let's get a good stance here!
  12. A few games are in the books today. List is up-to-date.
  13. Hundley, Hundley, Hundley. How long have I been saying that I like him over Chisholm.
  14. Now that I get a better look at the Z. It totally is Black. Something about the glare makes it look blue.
  15. Yes we do.
  16. I agree, but the call on the field was the wrong call. He looked out-of-bounds to me.
  17. Offensive woes finally stopped. Lets remember how that feels Zips.
  18. ESPN 3 announcers are unbearable.
  19. I'm in shock about Pohl actually. Woodson is playing @ home.
  20. They look blue on mine too. Maybe it's something wrong with both of our screens. Or...
  21. Shouldn't the punt recovery be a TD for the Zips?
  22. Connor goes off the field limping. Hope he's okay, but makes Pitt go 3 and out.
  23. There's been a lot of chatter about QB in a couple of other threads. I thought I'd do a little follow-up on the 2016 QB commit that the Zips have (note I'm not taking a shot at Pohl, because this guy won't arrive on campus until AFTER Pohl's senior year). He's been an intriguing prospect for the Zips, and arguably one of the highest ranked QB recruits the Zips have had in a long time (4-star by ESPN, 3-star by rivals). Most of us don't think we'll be able to keep such a highly talented recruit, but in his interview with Hustlebelt he stated that he fell in love with the campus, the program and, most importantly, Bowden. Jacob Harrison plays for the Chaminade Julienne Catholic high School (I'm not catholic so I have no idea what a "Chaminade Julienne" even is...). He was recently the Player of The Week for the team and featured on the local news outlet. So far on the season he led his team to a 3-1 record and has recorded these stats: 66/99, 1157 yards, 10 TD, 2 INT, 328 rushing yards on 34 attempts, 4 TD and 0 fumbles.
  24. And most people on twitter are like "Akron who?". If there was ever a "big-game" to win Akron....
