  1. I agree. Though I'm not opposed to having Fear the Roo on the Sleeves and the Z on the helmets either.
  2. Weren't there a handful of OSU transfers on Can't's team that played vs OSU today?
  3. Coaches maybe? How the heck does Mizzou play Toledo? (coaches)
  4. I agree with that. For the most part my 2012 Akron analogy is that the team looks completely different than the year before. Not enough for 5-wins...but enough to keep people wondering when the shoe is going to drop.
  5. UMass looks like it's lacking depth amongst all things. UMass defense started falling apart in the end against an SEC team. I feel like UMass will be like Akron in 2012. Showing up, making a game of all games, but dropping it in the end.
  6. I meant BIG as in Big schools...not Big-10. Sorry, I should have been more specific.
  7. I think it was because when the CFB Playoff was announced State Ohio University announced that it "would be scheduling less MAC teams". So I don't think any of the future scheduled games with Akron were official, maybe just tentative? But if I were State Ohio University, I'd be afraid of TB.
  8. No so good week for MACtion. Toledo and Buffalo were handled last night by Cincinnati and Baylor. Ohio getting whomped by Marshall, Can't getting whomped by State Ohio. Interesting gams going on for UMass, up 14 pts on an SEC team. BG keeping it close with Indiana, as is CMU.
  9. Yes. And it was only this year. Having a regular Browns presence on Campus every year would continue that. And yes, it will bring them out of their bubble. Because they may have no reason to come to the Campus of UA regularly. With their beloved Browns holding camp, they will go. And realize how wonderful the campus is. Browns camp CAN bring them out of their bubble, that's the point.
  10. I like how John Heisman developed one of the most used parts of football today while at Akron. You know the thing called a "center snap" is a really important part of football. Developed by Heisman @ Akron. Wonder why those morons don't go talking about that. God, how worthless are national broadcasters. They get paid to do this, and they aren't even right 99% of the time.
  11. Toledo is short their starting QB, which probably helped in the cincinnati Blowout. BG is short their starting QB. So I like our chances at home vs BG.
  12. I was listening to ESPN this morning (about two minutes ago actually) and heard a wonderful little tidbit of journalistic integrity that I never heard before. They introduced one of the "BIG" games of the day: Can't State going to Ohio State. "To date Can't State is the Only Mid-American Team to beat the Ohio State Buckeyes, which you have to go all the way back to 1894 to see it. (Nebulous reference to some ESPN host being on the team to make fun of his age) was a redshirt freshman. At the time Can't State was known as BUCHTEL COLLEGE." I know ESPN has constant love for loser BIG schools, but can you actually FACT CHECK stuff before you say it on air? The Only Mid-American Conference Team to beat Ohio State is AKRON.
  13. Yes, and that is irrelavent to wether or not the Browns will hold practice on campus or not. Browns camp on campus, and the soccer camps/Crew game like events, are not mutually exclusive. If Browns camp being held on campus would mean we'd have to get rid of those things, than I would agree with you and most everyone else on this thread. And not to troll or anything, but I was under the impression that "no coach worth his salt would ever let their championship pitch be used for anything else than gameday games." This discussion is getting into the absurd.
  14. Certainly more lucrative than the current non-existent programs that bring tens of thousands of people to the campus for 2 weeks in July.
  15. Then again, i do see a fair amount of Twitter chatter. They don't seem to be posting as many correct sign photos as we are though...perhaps that's our advantage
  16. Not inspiring. However, I suppose it doesn't matter as long as we win.
  17. Unless they're voting straight votes...and we're staying in it by the very fact that we are doing the 50-100 point challenges. I find that disturbing if that were the case.
  18. Why exactly did Ken Lolla leave? Because the facilities are the same as they were when Caleb Porter was here...I'm not attacking you Zip_Me87 on that point...I just don't understand it. And don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest soccer fan, but I would love nothing more than the Zips to return to their 2009-2010 form. That was the first time enjoyed going to a soccer game. They were exciting, they won (a lot) and unlike many teams at UA at the time, they played like winners. However, I don't think a D-I institution like Akron, that has constant financial issues it has, can really afford not to explore every opportunity to let a facility sit unused. I do agree that there perhaps should be some constraints to it (not tackling) but I really don't think running a few training camp drills on the field would be that bad...especially for a couple of weeks in the summer.
  19. Caleb porter is gone. So is the success he had here. Focus that energy and efforts on demanding a new coach, than waisting it on your opinion of the Cleveland Browns.
  20. Who's getting excited? It's a good way to get a little income from an outside source over the summer, and brings people to UA. Not entertaining ideas such as this is ridiculous. If you're running in the red, and have almost zero fans to begin with, what possible hurt could it do? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Of course I'm assuming people go to training camp (they do) and I'm assuming UA would be financially rewarded, or the bid wouldn't be made in the first place. The possible benefit > The non-existent cons. Oh well I guess there is one con...they possibly, maybe, might, use the soccer field. Ridiculous.
  21. This should be included in the discussion happening in the other thread here.
  22. #ThinkSmaller and #Irrelevant. This should be Akron's permanent motto. How many D-I programs have an NFL team utilizing their facilities?
  23. No reason to think about it, because that won't be the arrangement. The Browns are a team in THE National Football League, with a rabbid fan base that will do anything to see the team, despite it sucking so bad for so long. And if they do improve (even slightly) fans will be even more rabbid and demanding to see the team. Absolute no brainer to host the Browns camp. Unparalleled exposure to UA.
