I haven't voted today...or posted any photos. Time to start busting them out.

Akron has already dropped out of the rankings

Embick has to go. We need to bring in a national level coaching ability. -
The Cleveland Browns could ruin our soccer pitch
Balsy replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Besides...what does a field of grass exist for OTHER than to be used? Grass is rather hardy stuff, granted you have the proper drainage and upkeep. FirstEnergy Stadium will be fine. Browns practicing at UA is an absolute no brainer. It would bring more local attention to the University than the Soccer program (with it's national championship) ever did/does. I'm on board with the contention that UA Soccer was grossly overlooked on the list of priorities even though it brought the only National Championship we've ever had to the school (and frankly should have had 2 to our name). But the Browns using the campus is 100% a great idea. -

That debate would be much easier if the team wasn't currently 0-2-1. I can't imagine that having the Browns come to Akron to practice, wouldn't also include an extensive plan for the Soccer field's maintenance (if it were used for football practice...which i'm not entirely sure it would be). -
The 2015 Football Commitment List
Balsy replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
I don't even know what that means...why do you commit to a program, when you plan on visiting others. Makes zero sense to me. -
Where can you view that on the site? Edit: I figured it out.

That, or absolutely no-one is voting for Brutus...The Buckeyes have better things to do, like losing to Virginia Tech.

The 2015 Football Commitment List

Folks, I'm gonna state this again so it's on the record (again) but Bowden will finish his career here. Akron is the Bowden family's last stand. -
That's exactly what I'm saying. Don't get hung up on the Penn State game, go beat Marshall next week. I was responding to Ziprifle's comment that "sure, beating Marshall would be great...but MAC is all that matters." (I'm not throwing you under the Bus Ziprifle so don't take it that way) Every game matters, w gets us one step closer to the goal of the Bowl. That is our goal right? I'm not settling for "sure I would like to beat Marshall"...I'm settling for GO BEAT MARSHALL NOW and worry about the conference later.
-
Well I think all of us first goal is to make it to Detroit. Personally my expectation is a 7-5 season. Anything short of 7-5 is not improvement. A trip to Detroit would be a step above 7-5 for me. An 8+ win season is my top tier of performance. Akron has never had a team win 8 wins in a season, once that goal is reached my expectations will grow. Until then, this is how I measure success. In all honesty, I think this team is being set up for huge success next year. Kyle Pohl will be entering his senior season, and the Zips are adding a lot of talented transfer players that can make instant impacts in the MAC. I don't want to get ahead of myself though. We have a good shot THIS season to make some noise, and Marshall isn't insurmountable. Miami put 27 points on Marshall, and 318 yards passing. The same Miami team that found a way to lose to an FCS team. If anything Marshall will be a closer game than Penn State.

Little speedsters have trouble in the NFL. Except perhaps when they are only kick returners. The Browns' Travis Benjamin also banged up his knee a bit in the same game.

Voting starts on Monday, so there's a good chance a couple of Bruins fans were up late last night and voted. With the max out of 1pt votes, 1 facebook post and 5 tweets, it moved to 70-30. I think may a handful of Bruins fans pissed in the pool early!

Hey...gotta make those Marshall fans overpay.

I'm one of those people GP1, and I'm more than happy to eat my words. Pohl has stepped up and shown he is the QB we need him to be. Caveat: Doubt is a good thing. You should always doubt anything and everything until proven otherwise with evidence.

I still like Hakeem Lawrence over Jawon Chisholm. However I don't necessarily disagree with the coaching decisions, the only really bad one IMO was O'Leary starting over Robert Stein (wtf...WHY!?!?). I know coach wants to start grooming a replacement...but we still gotta win games THIS year. We lost the Michigan game because of turnovers, and we were in good position to beat Michigan because of the turnovers we forced on Michigan. Pohl threw an interception last year while we were in the red zone. We should have come away with 7 instead nothing. That was a difference make. Playing conservatively kept the game close, and it worked. However it only wins you the game if your players execute. We had a lot of dropped passes (that hit hands) in the third quarter. THAT was the difference maker, not the coach decisions. UCF tried running the ball more than passing, and it didn't work at all. I liked our game plan of pass-pass-pass-pass, draw play. It worked rather well with moving the ball. The only problem is, you're receivers got to catch the ball. Penn State's defense was not a very easy thing to beat. UCF also pressured more than we did, and Hackenberg ate them alive for 450 yards. I remember turning to my girlfriend at halftime and saying "we really have a shot at this". That was mostly because, after watching the UCF game I thought the way the Zips were going to beat PSU was exactly the way we played. We need to execute better, and we have 14 days to learn from our mistakes and prepare for Marshall. Penn State is a difficult team to beat under any circumstances at home, now its time for us to gear up an beat a team @ home, and continue the home wi streak.

The Stadium opener was against Morgan State. Indiana was the 2nd game.
-
Let's learn from those drops, and catch them against Marshall.

MACtion had another rough day, dropping most games to D-I conferences. Ball State loss though...

That makes me feel better about the Penn State loss (not reallY)

Why can't we play teams like Rutgers and Purdue instead of teams like Penn State?

Thanks for stopping by, as I said before, you guys need to watch Hack. Hey's the key to you guys winning. Maybe not vs us, but the kids makes a couple of bad decisions. You've been very generous and kind, so don't take anything I'm about to say personally. I just really, really hate losing. As for Zips fans: Robert Stein > O'Leary...Stein should have been starting this game from the get go. Driving the field and coming away with 0 points is the only thing WORSE than driving the field and coming away with points that aren't numbered 7. I've seen enough of Jawon Chisholm to save me a lifetime. I'd rather see Hundley, Lawrence and Morgan play for the rest of the season. Don't give Big-10 refs the opportunity to screw you over, dive for the first down! On the light side: This defense is the real deal, this defense is going to be the best in the MAC this year, and this team will be in the MAC championship game. Mark my words today 9/6/2014.

Thanks PSU_fan_84!! What a class act!!!

MACtion has a difficult schedule today. The BGSU and Miami teams will be facing off against FCS teams. Akron, Ball St, CMU and NIU are all facing off against Big-10. Can't is playing against the Sun Belt. WMU and Buffalo are taking on Independent teams. And Ohio, Toledo and EMU are all squaring off against SEC teams. Mighty UMass heads to Mighty Colorado for the only MAC vs PAC-12 matchup on the season. Hopefully MACtion can pull off a couple of upsets. In an ideal universe I'd like to see the conference pull off four upsets: 2 vs Big-10 and 2 vs the SEC.

Of course LZip. Does anyone ever take these seriously? Because they shouldn't. Graphics like this look nice, get you to read articles...but have very little substance.
