  1. I thought it was a good post, thanks Wadszip. It's better than three-line responses that do nothing to further a conversation other than to tear other members down. If you don't agree that's fine, but don't tear down someone for actually taking the time to write about something that contributes to the forum.
  2. Isn't Pughsly still with the chiefs as well? That'd make it three Zips on the same team.
  3. I did read the article, and I don't agree with you about it being a disgrace. There apparently is a long history of supporting issues faced by the African-American Community on Kent State's campus (Banner honoring the Shootings at Jackson University) because it was largely forgotten. (I wonder why it was largely forgotten?). The leader with the task force I couldn't agree with more when he says: "I think the responsibility of both the university and student group is to foster an exchange of ideas and we have had a full range of speaker..."It is to educate and connect the events of May 4, 1970, to what is happening today. It is to bring up ideas and engage the community to remember what happened on that day and the social challenges that students and the larger community face today as well." If that was their goal, I can attest to it working because I never knew there was a shooting 10 days later at Jackson University, eerily similar to that at Kent State. I was being critical of your comments because I don't view you as someone who normally doesn't articulate their argument. You usually give good reasons for why you don't like something, and I on many occasions agree with you. But a statement like "I just puked in my mouth after rolling my eyes so hard I now have a migraine" isn't such an articulated opinion. Yes, it's your right to say it, and it's my right to call it out. Thats why people have conversations. But it would have been nice if you had said that was the reason you were critical of it in the first place.
  4. Now that is an appropriate criticism of the decision. I do think it is in slightly poor taste to link the two, because they are two completely different situations. It is a bit of a stretch to connect the two, but all-in-all it's their decision to make and to invite whatever guests they want.
  5. The purpose of a place of higher education is to challenge people's preconceived notions, to make you challenge what you already know and accept. If you aren't at least challenged to question what you already know and accept, than education has failed you, because there is no other reason for education to exist. Without going into the situation of Tamir Rice (because it's not important to this topic), Kent State is doing exactly what Universities are supposed to do. Bringing attention to issues and to create a dialogue on issues important to the areas in which they are in. This doesn't stop at graduation or commemoration. Have we gone so soft that we cannot be challenged or confronted with opinions that are not our own, that we've got to "puke in our mouths after rolling our eyes so hard that we get migraines?"
  6. The Cleveland Browns will draft him in the 4th Round if he hasn't gone by then already. The Browns are weak on Defense, and we should see them add a CB, S, DT and a LB or Two in this draft alone. IMHO it depends on what the Browns do at 8. If they go offense, there's a better chance IMO, that they could pick him up. The Browns currently have 12 picks; 1,2,3,3,4,4,4,5,5,5,6,7. I don't see them picking 12 people, but it is analytics after all.
  7. They already have a MAC Championship 2005 Banner in the Field house. And going to a bowl is something to commemorate when you've only gone to two in your DI history. And, considering that 2015 was the 10-year anniversary for that season...it's a, if you will, a turning of the page commemoration. I don't have a problem with it at all.
  8. I like that they made the two banners so that they can be hung in the Field House. THIS is the time to build excitement about the program for the player's sake. And I have a feeling that there is going to be a string of those banners in the Field House before Bowden retires, including another MAC Champions one.
  9. Dr. Z, I'm not sure if you've answered this or not (or know anything about it) But I've been noticing that once a quote box is put into the response dialogue it cannot be removed, or at least I can't figure out how to do it. Do you know anything about this? Thanks!
  10. Those banners were only put there to show them off to the fans at the spring game, everyone calm down. Stadium versions will likely be made later to display in the stadium.
  11. I like Hugh Jackson, I really do. Best pick in a long time for HC of the Browns. Though I disagree, it does make perfect sense to predict that they will mess up the draft this year based on the past. It's a prediction, and the Browns' recent history is a Case Study in support of that prediction. Sure, it's not the exact same people, but it's a very similar situation to what we've seen in the past: inexperienced and rather new front office people, different organizational setup, new coaches. The current Browns front office fired their scouts weeks before the draft. I hope as any other Browns fan that this will be when things are going to be corrected. But to simply say that we should eliminate what we know about the past to influence how we evaluate now, is ridiculous. The Browns have made some terrible moves in the past; gaining number of picks instead of focusing on the quality of the pick. This year is borderline going to be the same; because there is talk about trading down again. You either have those bluechip players or you don't. There is no substitute.
  12. Agreed. For once, it appears the Browns may have actually made a good deal. Now they'll blow those picks as they always do.
  13. Yup, they're one of my favorite places to go.
  14. I'm calling my shot; this year Akron beat's both BG and Ohio.
  15. Thanks. I wasn't able to make it this year either which is why I asked. But it seems that we had enough members there to comment that it's almost as good. I'll tweet at ZipsFB video to see if they can post the footage.
  16. Dr. Z did you record the spring game this year? If anyone did, please upload for those of us who did not get to come. I was able to catch part of it on the Radio as well as the stat box, sounded like Running game is a big question mark, and WRs are as advertised. Biggest surprise hearing about was Tra'von Chapman. I had almost written him off, but it appears he came out very strong in this spring game.
  17. I'm most interested in seeing our WR corps. Last year I remember Michael Means looking pretty good, only to become hurt before the season started. Lane has been mentioned quite considerably by GT. It'll be cool to see Franshon Bickley on the field again after we thought he might be gone, as well a MTB. JoJo Natson sat out last year, and he was a talented transfer that we've picked up. The season in general: I'm really hoping to see a much faster-paced offense where the Zips control the ball and pace of the game, and have our defense come in rested and ready to go.
  18. There's just one Caveat I guess I have to my opposition to the Z logo...and it's that the students to see it as a more "slick" logo. My students have seen both my Akron Z gear and ARoo gear, and have commented that the Z logo is cool and slick. Why a single letter is so cool to them, I will never know but they seem to like it more. I just wish they wouldn't have all but eliminated it.
  19. Put my vote in for 2. But I'd be happy with 1 and 2. I was a huge opponent of the Z becoming a focal point for the Zips.
  20. I don't know why you even bothered posting this, because it's clearly unnecessary; other than the fact that you seem to like to quote my posts and add irrelevant information. No-one is holding a parade, no-one is saying he's going to be awesome. But it goes without saying that WR has been an area of concern last year, and Michaelee Harris was a WR we were all interested in seeing play, considering that we had not much to look at going into spring-ball last year. This effectively makes everything you just posted completely irrelevant to the conversation: that centered around him perhaps not being on the team...of which I pointed out that he is certainly on the team.
  21. Yeah...so Tyrell Goodman (#2) is wrong but not Michaelee Harris, which was my point all along; and why I said that in this case it isn't wrong because Michaelee Harris is STILL on the team, which is a good thing.
  22. In this case I don't think so. That picture shows what looks to be #12 catching a pass. #12, according to the spring roster, is Michaelee Harris. He's listed as a RS Senior.
  23. The WSJ is garbage. Case and point: Kent is ranked #170, when it clearly shouldn't even be on the list at all.
  24. This is the year that the Zips beat both BGSU and Ohio. Go Zips!
