Really big game for the women tonight. A loss would drop them into the #8-10 place group and threaten MAC Tournament qualifying. They handled the Emus in Ypsilanti earlier this year, so they should be able to prevail at home. Time to start strong and keep it going.

Tonight's announced attendance - 2,122. ๐

I've pretty much gone from the glass is half full to at best half empty now. The women have lost 5 of 6 and have yet to beat a MAC team with a winning record. Unless things turnaround quickly even getting to Cleveland will be a quick exit.

Nice comeback to make it a game in the 4Q. But, Ball State had 21 points on 23 Zips turnovers. Ballgame. ๐ต

Over. One step forward. Two steps back. ๐คจ

You (or maybe just I) can't help but compare the two programs since both coaches took over the same year with both programs on a significant downturn. We certainly seemed to at least miss a chance to at least talk to Froelich while we waited for Kest to step away after two terrible years. Although she sputtered a bit I think Froelich had the easier task due to a BGSU program with a much greater history of success and fan support. Jackson must also hold some of the responsibility for those two bad seasons since she was the top assistant and I think head of recruiting. There's still time to turn things around, but there can't be any more performances like last night. Need to win the remaining home games and beat Can't and Canada at their place. It could happen...๐ฅด

For what it's worth, the loss doesn't drop them any in the standings, but it opens up a bigger gap from the top 4. Plus they're only one game away from a five way tie with the 4-7 teams. And Ball State is next at the JAR. ๐ฌ

I knew it would be tough, but good grief. ๐ต

Zips fall to 5-5 in conference, continuing the drop towards the middle of the pack losing 4 of last 5. They've yet to beat a MAC team with a winning record. Not a good sign. Need to regroup against a bad Northern Illinois team on Wednesday, but who knows what will happen in DeKalb on any night?

And poof!, the lead was gone in 2 minutes.

Don't know why they just didn't have Reghi call the game. The guy's been around long enough to handle this game right.

Ridiculous. ๐

Keeping up with the Three D's (Dambrot, Dru & Duquesne)

The CLE store use to be my go to for slightly lower cost merch when it was Campus Book Supply. I stopped in a couple months ago and it was a totally different store with only about half the merch area and no significant new logo stuff. Good to see it may be coming back into fold. -

Thanks, but I beg to differ about the Rally Store at Summit Mall. I was there last week and the selection of new logo gear was very limited, a fact I discussed with one of the clerks who is a student at UA who agreed with me and we talked about the trouble they have getting Zips and Cavs merch. I'm also a bit frugal. I'm not going to pay $30+ for a t-shirt or even more for a hat. My $15 gold "Z" hat from Walmart works just fine for now. I will check again later. -
Martindale was 0 for 1 from the field. No three point attempts. I don't recall her one shot or her popping open enough to even take a 3 pointer. Someone was in her face all the time. She also played hard as usual for 37 minutes.

There's new logo gear available outside the university? ๐ -
Just a bad home loss to our key rival, exacerbated by a terrible start on offense going scoreless for almost the first 6 minutes and two bonehead two handed push to the back fouls by our point guard to send her to the bench. Not sure what her deal was tonight. Pretty bad officiating down the stretch, too. Layne's 5th foul was a nice flop by the opponent. A gritty comeback in the 4th quarter, but better play in the 3rd would have made the comeback easier. I hate losing to Can't, especially at home. ๐คฌ On to Kamalzoo for another tough road contest. Need to avoid falling further back into the pack.

I think there was a little room for doubt after the 8-9 1Q and the convincing part came with the 27-12 4Q. ๐ Nevertheless, it was a needed win against a team with a new coach and 11 new players that they should win. It also kept us from dropping below Can't in the standings. Need a big effort from the start and a win on Wednesday.

And I see the time between games is only scheduled for about a half hour instead of an hour. ๐
-
Just as a point of reference, NIU also has a home doubleheader tomorrow. Women play BGSU at 1 CST and tip off for men against Ball State is scheduled for 3:30. ๐ค

I've done the doubleheader thing numerous times and it is a long day, especially when there is more than a half hour between games as is likely Saturday with 2pm and 5pm scheduled tips. I think there is a better chance of exposure/attendance for the women's game if it is first. That way fans may get there a little early before the men's game to see the excitement of the women's second half.
