  1. I watched thru the 3Q and gave up. He looked a little too comfortable sitting on the sideline with a towel draped over his legs to be getting into the game anytime. It reminds me a bit of way back when Joe Jakubik was on the Cavs summer team and they played at The Coliseum. Despite a bunch of fans including myself in attendance, he hardly played at all. Seems like everybody should get to play 5-10 minutes. George Karl was sitting in the seats and as I passed him on my way out I told him I wouldn't be back for a while. I'm sure it haunts him to this day. 😉
  2. Interesting that the first email I got about this was yesterday and I saw nothing on Facebook about it until today. Not exactly a lot of notice for the non-Zip Athletic Club members twitter followers. Not enough interest from the ZAC members?
  3. America East Sixth player of the year in 21-22. Experienced player at DI level. Should be a solid pickup.
  4. I guess it's my 20+ years in marketing/advertising/PR talking to me. A press conference for a new women's basketball coach at our level should be a given. It's an opportunity to promote the program to the public/media. Any chance to do that is a plus. I'm betting it would be hard to find another DI school that hasn't had one after a change. All the new MAC WBB coaches have had one. Box and Miami just had theirs earlier today. I'm also fine with a meet and greet that would sum up all the changes and introduce the new staff and players. Do something, though the time may have passed now to generate any big interest on campus with school out.
  5. Being able to watch players develop was one reason I gravitated toward the women's game in recent years. That's probably over now with the portal heating up on the women's side too and a coaching change.
  6. Former Zips assistant under Kest. Some fans were hoping for Colleen Day Henderson. Do you think they'll have a press conference introducing their new coach before the Zips do? 🤔 https://miamiredhawks.com/news/2023/5/8/womens-basketball-box-named-womens-basketball-head-coach.aspx
  7. So that's IUP and not IUPUI, just for (my) clarity. Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Division II school. Good luck to Garvin.
  8. I see Layne is going to Wright State. Good luck to her. I always wished she was a bit more aggressive and consistent with us.
  9. Apparently a bad judge of X's and O's in more ways than one. Geez. 🙄
  10. I'd love to have any of them, especially Scott, but I'm guessing these ladies want to go someplace they can be part of a winning program right away after losing for 3-4 years at Miami.
  11. Cluse and Wolf in portal, too. There go their top 3 players. 😬
  12. Good for her. I don't see a tweet to that effect yet. She was retweeting Miami basketball info a little over a week ago.
  13. That sure took a while. Doesn't make things any easier for the new coach. Peyton Scott should get the heck out of there now and go somewhere she can be part of a winning team.
  14. Not sure about that, but I appreciate your optimism. We return one player who has been a significant contributor at the DI level and no one coming in has played many, if any, minutes in DI. It's going to be a really young team with lots of opportunity to grow.
  15. I hope either one of them is someone with significant playing time at the DI level. I guess graduate transfer tends to indicate that.
  16. Stats say she played 53 minutes in two years at WSU, so not sure what we're getting yet. Good high school numbers and probably wants to get back close to home where she may play more. Welcome home kid.
  17. Well one thing I'm learning about our new coach, absent an organized public appearance, is that he's pretty tall. Judging from his tweets with Riley and the 6'5" Taponen he looks to be at least 6'6". 🤔
  18. New coach named today at CMU. They even had a press conference. 😉 https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/2023/04/20/kristin-haynie-central-michigan-chippewas-womens-basketball-coach/70133738007/
  19. We've added two bigs who played a total of 54 minutes this year. I guess I'll stay cautiously optimistic. Hopefully they were just in a log jam behind upper classmen.
  20. Names of players and coaches either in article or link. Turnover turmoil in Canada I guess. https://www.ubspectrum.com/article/2023/04/university-at-buffalo-womens-basketball-players-decommitting-five
  21. Was she hurt this year? She only played in 6 games all season.
  22. The ironic thing is I think you could build a pretty decent size arena right on campus where the JAR is now and Memorial Hall used to be.
  23. Just for the record, ESPN+ is $10 a month now and I believe $60 is for a bleacher seat. Still, prices are reasonable.
  24. Thanks for the inside info. Kind of ironic. He already has a 4 year old boy named Jackson. More irony. I'm sure he is busy, but the athletic department could have mentioned something by now.
  25. The new Zips women's basketball coach was named two weeks ago and we're still waiting for the press conference? It took BGSU a few days. 🤔
