  1. For what it's worth, the loss doesn't drop them any in the standings, but it opens up a bigger gap from the top 4. Plus they're only one game away from a five way tie with the 4-7 teams. And Ball State is next at the JAR. 😬
  2. I knew it would be tough, but good grief. 😵
  3. Zips fall to 5-5 in conference, continuing the drop towards the middle of the pack losing 4 of last 5. They've yet to beat a MAC team with a winning record. Not a good sign. Need to regroup against a bad Northern Illinois team on Wednesday, but who knows what will happen in DeKalb on any night?
  4. Don't know why they just didn't have Reghi call the game. The guy's been around long enough to handle this game right.
  5. The CLE store use to be my go to for slightly lower cost merch when it was Campus Book Supply. I stopped in a couple months ago and it was a totally different store with only about half the merch area and no significant new logo stuff. Good to see it may be coming back into fold.
  6. Thanks, but I beg to differ about the Rally Store at Summit Mall. I was there last week and the selection of new logo gear was very limited, a fact I discussed with one of the clerks who is a student at UA who agreed with me and we talked about the trouble they have getting Zips and Cavs merch. I'm also a bit frugal. I'm not going to pay $30+ for a t-shirt or even more for a hat. My $15 gold "Z" hat from Walmart works just fine for now. I will check again later.
  7. Martindale was 0 for 1 from the field. No three point attempts. I don't recall her one shot or her popping open enough to even take a 3 pointer. Someone was in her face all the time. She also played hard as usual for 37 minutes.
  8. There's new logo gear available outside the university? 🙄
  9. Just a bad home loss to our key rival, exacerbated by a terrible start on offense going scoreless for almost the first 6 minutes and two bonehead two handed push to the back fouls by our point guard to send her to the bench. Not sure what her deal was tonight. Pretty bad officiating down the stretch, too. Layne's 5th foul was a nice flop by the opponent. A gritty comeback in the 4th quarter, but better play in the 3rd would have made the comeback easier. I hate losing to Can't, especially at home. 🤬 On to Kamalzoo for another tough road contest. Need to avoid falling further back into the pack.
  10. I think there was a little room for doubt after the 8-9 1Q and the convincing part came with the 27-12 4Q. 😉 Nevertheless, it was a needed win against a team with a new coach and 11 new players that they should win. It also kept us from dropping below Can't in the standings. Need a big effort from the start and a win on Wednesday.
  11. And I see the time between games is only scheduled for about a half hour instead of an hour. 👍
  12. Just as a point of reference, NIU also has a home doubleheader tomorrow. Women play BGSU at 1 CST and tip off for men against Ball State is scheduled for 3:30. 🤔
  13. I've done the doubleheader thing numerous times and it is a long day, especially when there is more than a half hour between games as is likely Saturday with 2pm and 5pm scheduled tips. I think there is a better chance of exposure/attendance for the women's game if it is first. That way fans may get there a little early before the men's game to see the excitement of the women's second half.
  14. Zips are trending toward falling back to the middle of the pack. Their 4 wins are against lower third teams and 3 losses are against the top three. Just didn't come out ready to play tonight and Ball State took it to them. Need to regroup and maybe get some revenge against Toledo and Ball State when they come to the JAR and at least hold serve against Kent State. Continue to beat the teams you're supposed to and sneak a couple other wins in.
  15. Women lose at Toledo 76-63. Key was a 12-2 run by the Rockettes in the last 4 minutes or so of the 2Q to finish a 23-11 quarter. Camp struggled mightily from the field going 4 for 17. Bass led team with 24 points, but all of our bigs struggled defensively against Toledo's wide bodied bigs. Little from Zips bench other than decent minutes from Stinson. Frustrating to watch Zips force so many passes down low when there is nothing there. Former Zip Lonasia Brewer contributed 4 points and 5 rebounds for Toledo. On to Muncie for another tough one.
  16. Considering Coach Vanderveer has over 1,000 more wins in her career I'm guessing she's getting a bit more leeway, but there's probably somebody questioning her.
  17. The BG bench had 4 players play about 54 mins and our 3 players played about 27 minutes. Ferrell played almost 39 minutes and Camp played almost 37. All 5 starters played over 30 mins. I don't see much depth yet on the team and it doesn't look like Melissa does either. Lots of work to be done.
  18. Nice to have the coverage of the Saturday afternoon game. I look forward to seeing it in the paper on Monday 🙄. However you want to write it, it was a bad loss.
  19. When I saw Katie Hempfling and Lexi Fleming were coming off the bench it seemed obvious BG had added some depth. BG did a good job of holding down Bass and Ferrell had to play 39 minutes, often bringing the ball up court. No wonder she was gassed at the end. The lack of a consistent 3 pt shooter is hurting us too. Still, a 31-13 4Q blitz should not happen. On to Central Michigan at the JAR on Weds. Zips need that one before going on the road to play Toledo and Ball State. Those will be tough.
  20. Way to show your team how to handle adversity, coach. 🙄
