I scoured my PD sports sections yesterday and couldn't find any story on the Akron or Kent games. Not even a paragraph wire report. Maybe the MAC coverage retired with Elton Alexander?

Getting back to the game, what was the deal with the turnover pencil? I guess I missed a good explanation. Never mind. Found Arth's explanation. Weak.

As long as we're still talking Dennison, it is worthwhile to note he had a career winning record (13-9) against MAC teams when we weren't even at the same level. Some of them were crummy MAC teams, but MAC nonetheless. Plus he beat Ball State when they were MAC champs in 1976. He should have had a chance at D1. Faust sure wasn't successful.

The kicker was just named the UA Male Student Athlete of the Week. I'm sure he's a quality kid, but he didn't exactly have a good day. ?

I've always wondered how they promote this for other sports other than football and build spirit on campus and in the department. Just having a website to look at the standings doesn't do it. Are there prominent standings boards in the athletic department and student center? Do the teams get to change the tally at an event or shortly after? I always thought the biggest accomplishment was getting PNC to sponsor it when there was like one PNC branch anywhere near KSU in Stow.

I realize that. I seem to recall instances where guys transfer and play the next year (i.e . Forsythe and Hitchens). Maybe that is a hardship thing only.

It's hard to keep track of the transfer rules these days. Does him having to sit a year mean Iowa didn't release him? Seems some guys get to play right away. Local kid coming home. Fine.

Good grief. How can you be the beat reporter for years and even make the mistake of writing that? And I bet Utomi has been getting a lot of interest since he apparently grew 2 inches since the season ended.

Pearl wasn't in the MAC. I was just using him as a current example of a coach in the SEC who took over a program that has had little sustained basketball success and has them in the Sweet 16 this year. Oats faces a similar challenge at Alabama.

...Christian, Ford. Most of these guys keep going to schools that have no real history of sustained success. Kudos to Bruce Pearl (so far) at Auburn. Oats has his work cut out for him at Alabama.

Pardon me for asking, but are academics a possible issue here? Dawson spent 4 years in high school and was captain of the first team AAA All State team his senior year and then he reclassified to go to a post-graduate program.

Just for the record, Roscoe is a sophomore according to GoZips.com. Played at Panola College 2017-18. Also committed to Southern Illinois at one point. I like his skills, but he has bounced around a bit.

KD also recruited 8 freshmen for this year, almost all of whom went to one high school for their career from what I can tell. That is how you build a program instead of dominating it with multiple high school, prep/basketball academy, other school commits, junior college etc. guys. You plug in the holes with those transfer guys. I'm not sure how stable a roster will ever be when the kids you bring in are already used to moving around so much. The only traditional freshman Groce has brought in the last two years is Ali. Heck, we just lost two guys who were loyal to the program and stuck around after the coaching change. Plus we lost 3 others during the year. I'm not sure how this compares to all the other schools, but things need to settle down real soon.

Maybe Geno will take over at Stony Brook. It may be a little harder to root as much against OU now, maybe.

Yeah, wouldn't want to watch that. Geez, MAC.
